No one is goodThe two giants in the food delivery industry have now ceased hostilities.

After Good Group failed in its attempt to monopolize the food delivery market, it had no choice but to accept the current situation.

In Good Group’s view, although they lost this time, at least their foundation was still intact. Because the worst outcome was merely returning to the very beginning—living out their days scraping a profit from delivery riderss and merchants, just like Lanbiao Factory.

Although this kind of small-scale operation brings in money slowly, it’s a steady stream that adds up over time.

This is the confidence of industry giants; even if their ventures fail, they still have a fallback.

Good Group’s CEO Wang also planned to have a serious talk with Lin Yuan once everything stabilized. If Lin Yuan still didn’t know what was good for him, he intended to use drastic measures.

He had been in the internet circle for many years; if he were to be defeated by an unknown junior, how could he continue to entice investors for funding?

A significant factor that gave CEO Wang of Good Group this idea was that Lin Yuan had actually resigned from Lanbiao Factory.

Logically speaking, Lin Yuan had helped Lanbiao Factory catch up with Good Group’s pace, and now was the time to reap the benefits. Who would jump ship when it was time to pick the peaches?

Originally, CEO Wang had decided not to bother with Lin Yuan for the time being, not because he was merciful, but because if Lin Yuan was still at Lanbiao Factory, moving against him would mean a direct conflict with Lanbiao Factory.

Businessmen, after all, must always consider costs, even when retaliating against someone. CEO Wang did not want to let his legal department engage in a major fight with Lanbiao Factory just to spite Lin Yuan and vent his anger.

Not only would this be costly, but it would also go against the policy-level intention of having the two companies cease hostilities.

However, Lin Yuan had actually resigned from Lanbiao Factory.

And after some inquiries, Good Group learned that Lin Yuan’s departure from Lanbiao Factory was not very amicable.

Lanbiao Factory had offered Lin Yuan a sky-high golden-collar contract, with top-tier positions, salaries, and development opportunities. They even promised a future opportunity to join Alibaba. But Lin Yuan rejected all of it.

Good Group did not believe Lanbiao Factory was easy to deal with; if they were, they wouldn’t be one of the only two survivors of the food delivery war.

But Good Group didn’t see Lanbiao Factory blocking Lin Yuan’s resignation, so they spent money to hire a consulting firm to investigate. After that, they learned that when Lin Yuan joined Lanbiao Factory, the employment contract he signed had already cut off all possibilities for Lanbiao Factory to block his resignation.

The contract Lin Yuan signed with Lanbiao Factory was almost like a partnership agreement, not an employment contract at all.

Therefore, although Lanbiao Factory didn’t want to let him go, they were helpless.

Based on the principle that competitors understand each other best, CEO Wang believed an opportunity to vent his anger had arrived. So he quickly instructed his subordinates to contact Lanbiao Factory.

In short, CEO Wang’s message was: This Lin Yuan fellow keeps jumping between our two companies. I think many of our conflicts were incited by him. Since neither of us tolerates him, why don’t we teach him a lesson? Considering Lin Yuan was your meritorious employee, this time, Good Group will make the move, but you must promise to stand by and do nothing.

CEO Wang was uncharacteristically generous.

He only asked Lanbiao Factory to stand by.

Once the other party didn’t interfere, Good Group’s dealings with Lin Yuan would not cause a shock in the food delivery industry, and they could act freely.

Whether or not they could sue Lin Yuan into submission wasn’t important; wearing him down and annoying him was very important. For a large organization, a lawsuit is just a matter of spending money, but for an individual, it can easily consume their entire life.

So, what was Lanbiao Factory’s attitude?

In fact, Lin Yuan had felt it since the day he resigned: both Good Group and Lanbiao Factory were pragmatic entities; there was no such thing as sentiment. Even if a few individuals at Lanbiao Factory were grateful to Lin Yuan, the will of a few individuals could hardly change the collective will of an organization.

Lin Yuan’s resignation from Lanbiao Factory had, in fact, offended the organization itself. Because no large company can accept an employee taking such initiative and being so presumptuous in front of them.

However, a large company like Lanbiao Factory still needed to save face.

If a meritorious employee like Lin Yuan was severely stabbed in the back right after leaving, their own employees would inevitably feel disheartened.

Therefore, Lanbiao Factory’s public relations department was very skilled at handling things.

After learning about Good Group’s plan to deal with Lin Yuan, they informed Good Group that they would absolutely not interfere, while also quietly relaying the message through Lin Yuan’s former colleagues at Lanbiao Factory.

Lanbiao Factory, acting out of a sense of past goodwill, hoped Lin Yuan would rejoin, so the company could offer him protection.

From the moment Lin Yuan received Lanbiao Factory’s invitation to rejoin, he guessed their intention.

Because if Lanbiao Factory truly wanted to help him, they could have simply issued a statement directly supporting him.

Good Group wouldn’t possibly engage in another direct conflict with Lanbiao Factory just to spite one person.

But Lanbiao Factory didn’t do that; instead, they privately asked him to rejoin.

Although Lin Yuan didn’t inquire about the terms of the re-employment contract, he knew it definitely wouldn’t be based on his previous contract.

Lanbiao Factory was clearly trying to exploit Lin Yuan with false kindness this time.

In the eyes of Lanbiao Factory’s employees, the company did not abandon a meritorious employee who had already resigned; instead, they proactively offered a very favorable contract.

If Lin Yuan accepted, Lanbiao Factory would gain a lot.

If Lin Yuan didn’t accept, Lanbiao Factory’s executives could seize the opportunity to vent their anger. Especially the big boss of Lanbiao Factory—the President of Alibaba’s Local Life Services Group—who was forced by Lin Yuan to personally apologize in Purple Gold, he practically wanted to crush Lin Yuan in an instant.

Watching the performance of Good Group and Lanbiao Factory, Lin Yuan couldn’t help but complain to Zhang Yan, ”How can these people be so full of schemes? Aren’t they tired of all these petty tricks?”

Zhang Yan said indifferently, ”As an individual, you challenged the authority of an organization. Anyone would be displeased by that.

Senior Brother, do you want my help?

I’ll ask my master to give both of them a call and tell them to stop bothering you.”

Lin Yuan feigned curiosity, ”Is your master’s call very effective?”

”Of course! I don’t believe they would openly oppose the public authorities just to mess with you.”

Lin Yuan agreed with this; after all, businessmen always consider costs in everything they do.

”Sigh~~, they’re ganging up to annoy me, probably just because they think I’m a small fry.”

Seeing Lin Yuan’s nonchalant expression, Zhang Yan asked curiously, ”Senior Brother, why are you so confident? Is your big brother in Eagle Country going to protect you this time? Although Old Ma is rich, he can’t extend his reach here, can he? And on what grounds?”

Lin Yuan coughed twice, ”Cough, cough~~, I gave some advice to the esteemed Minister of Efficiency on The Other Shore, and he readily agreed.”

Zhang Yan excitedly asked, ”What advice? Tell me quickly!”

”You’ll know if you pay attention to the news these next few days.”
