Algorithm system

End of storyDirector Wang of Good Group tried to contact Lin Yuan through many connections, but Lin Yuan rejected them all.

Lin Yuan felt great, simply because of that simple adage—you ignored me then, but today you can’t afford to reach me.

However, Zhang Yan quickly poured a basin of cold water on him, ”I’m already helping you find a lawyer.”

”Huh?” Lin Yuan was puzzled, ”I didn’t want to sue them.” Lin Yuan’s values were very simple; he always felt that his grievances with Good Group hadn’t reached the point of litigation, and he didn’t want any compensation from Good Group. He just wanted to express himself—to give Good Group a good, thorough disgust, and that would be enough.

”It’s not for you to sue Good Group; it’s for dealing with them suing you.”

A few days later, after Lin Yuan repeatedly rejected Director Wang, a lawyer’s letter stamped with a large red seal was indeed personally delivered by Good Group’s lawyer.

Lin Yuan couldn’t help but admire Zhang Yan’s foresight. As expected of the little princess, she must have been immersed in and learned from such things since childhood.

Zhang Yan had long anticipated the worst outcome, and this outcome was indeed as she expected.

After multiple failed attempts to recruit Lin Yuan, Good Group once again resorted to underhanded tactics, just as they had kicked Lin Yuan out the door previously. Perhaps this was Good Group’s company culture.

In the lawyer’s letter, Good Group claimed that Lin Yuan had stolen trade secrets.

Since the non-compete agreement signed by Good Group and Lin Yuan was voluntarily terminated by Good Group to avoid continuing to pay non-compete compensation,

Good Group could no longer use the non-compete agreement to vex Lin Yuan. However, to Lin Yuan’s surprise, Good Group actually fabricated a reason of stealing trade secrets and even concocted several so-called pieces of evidence.

Those pieces of evidence included several surveillance videos—proving that Lin Yuan had repeatedly used a USB drive to copy data from Hao Tuan Company’s equipment in violation of regulations during his tenure at Good Group.

This left Lin Yuan speechless. At that time, to avoid Good Group monitoring his algorithm generation process, he wrote the code on his own laptop and then copied it to the laptop provided by Good Group or to Good Group’s servers using a USB drive.

This operation was tacitly approved by his direct supervisor at the time.

Now, it had instead become Good Group’s excuse.

In any case, Lin Yuan now had no way to prove that he was actually copying data *to* Good Group’s equipment, rather than *downloading* data from it.

And larger companies indeed have internal regulations against casually inserting USB drives. If they really pressed the issue, Lin Yuan would indeed be unable to defend himself.

Although Good Group couldn’t possibly claim Lin Yuan stole trade secrets based solely on this point, the group of litigators in Good Group’s legal department could team up and slowly wear Lin Yuan down. Good Group’s executives were banking on Lin Yuan being an individual, and an individual couldn’t outplay a large company.

The legal department of a large company was not to be trifled with; they would start from various clues and entangle Lin Yuan in lawsuits for several years.

For ordinary people, being embroiled in lawsuits for several years meant being unable to work normally, and thus having no income. Then, Good Group would offer Lin Yuan an opening—”Come back; once you return, all lawsuits will be immediately withdrawn, and a position with a high salary awaits you.”

The choice for an ordinary person goes without saying.

But Lin Yuan was not an ordinary person.

He had originally intended to cease hostilities with Good Group, as he had no desire to spend all his time in the food delivery industry. But Good Group, just like when they fired him, insisted on treating him like a dog.

So Lin Yuan became enraged.

He quickly compiled a document concerning the abnormal stock prices of Hao Tuan Company.

With the support of the computing power system, abnormal points of various human operations in Hao Tuan Company’s stock fluctuations could be easily marked.

Lin Yuan then sent this document to Director Wang, treating it as a way to enhance his political achievements.

Lin Yuan’s idea was simple: to give Director Wang evidence that Good Group was not properly managing the food delivery industry.

As a representative of public will, what Director Wang wanted most now was a healthy and stable food delivery industry. The consciousness of millions of delivery riderss was at stake; if it kept fluctuating wildly, who could bear it?

Originally, even if Director Wang suspected Good Group was making small moves under the table, he had no clear evidence.

But after Lin Yuan provided this information, he could instruct the economic investigation department to investigate specifically based on the marked timestamps. This was no longer a blind man feeling an elephant, but rather following a map to find a treasure.

By comparing large stock inflows and outflows around those timestamps, and then following the clues to investigate the buyers and sellers, all the fog would quickly dissipate.

Director Wang didn’t ask Lin Yuan where he got this information from; after all, Lin Yuan was quite mysterious now.

Director Wang even wondered if Zhang Yan had intervened to get this for Lin Yuan.

In any case, for an experienced veteran like Director Wang, he knew that Lin Yuan wanted to use his hand to deal with Good Group. He also knew that Lin Yuan knew he couldn’t refuse this evidence. Director Wang, if he didn’t want to cause further complications, would not press Lin Yuan for more details about the evidence he provided.

He only confirmed one point with Lin Yuan, ”Good Group still needs to exist, otherwise Lanbiao Factory will be the next Good Group.”

Lin Yuan had no objection to this; he didn’t expect to take down a listed company with a market value of over a trillion yuan by himself. Lin Yuan understood that Director Wang wanted him to stop there, and it was clear that Director Wang didn’t want to get overly involved in his dispute with Good Group.

Lin Yuan naturally accepted this.

So, just as Good Group’s legal department was eager to prove themselves, Good Group’s executives halted all lawsuits against Lin Yuan.

Because Good Group’s public relations head was called in for a talk, the core message of which was: Focus on building up the food delivery industry, and stop always trying to make quick money from the capital market. Let bygones be bygones, and such incidents must not happen again in the future. No more exhausting competition with Lanbiao Factory, lest the food delivery industry be disrupted.

Good Group naturally had no choice but to accept. Unless Good Group didn’t want to continue operating.

And once accepted, it meant Good Group would return to its original state—sharing the food delivery market with Lanbiao Factory.

Since the dispute with Lanbiao Factory no longer existed, and Lin Yuan had already resigned from Lanbiao Factory, there was no longer any point in targeting Lin Yuan.

Lin Yuan’s resignation from Lanbiao Factory was originally just a graceful exit after achieving his goal; he joined Lanbiao Factory to deal with Good Group, and now that the matter was over, he naturally didn’t bother to stay any longer.

However, from Good Group’s perspective, Lin Yuan’s actions were interpreted as: Lin Yuan chickened out.

But Good Group letting Lin Yuan off was not because they thought Lin Yuan chickened out; the deeper reason was: the public sector intended to collaborate with Good Group and Lanbiao Factory to establish regulations for the food delivery industry.

The public sector wanted to standardize the pricing system of the food delivery industry.

Given this, and with the public sector’s hand already extended, it was completely meaningless for Good Group to continue clashing with Lin Yuan before everything became clear.

Because Good Group’s clash with Lin Yuan was not to prove anything, but merely to recruit Lin Yuan. Recruiting Lin Yuan was to have him continue iterating on the food delivery algorithm, but now that the public sector had entered the game, who knew what would happen next? It was possible that the food delivery algorithm itself might even be unified into an industry standard.

So Lin Yuan temporarily had no great value to Good Group, and Good Group temporarily let Lin Yuan off.

However, Good Group would eventually realize in the future that it wasn’t about whether they wanted to let Lin Yuan off, but whether Lin Yuan wanted to let them off.
