The Terror of the Internet 3Originally, the school intended to commend Lin Yuan, as a successful student brought prestige to the school.

However, the sudden polarization of online public opinion left everyone bewildered.

Lin Yuan, on the other hand, was quite relieved.

Because nowadays, anyone active online, regardless of their status, almost always has both haters and fans.

For example: Musk, and also: Yaoyao Lingxian and Coarse Grain Lei Zi.

Some people adore you like their own parents, while others view you as an enemy.

But in Lin Yuan’s opinion, people are all quite similar, all possessing their own emotions and desires. Everyone is simply acting within their own cognitive framework to achieve their goals.

In fact, whether it’s Musk, Yaoyao Lingxian, or Coarse Grain Lei Zi, none of them have left the real economy. Even Musk, who often takes advantage of the financial market, still has his main business in the real economy.

Who hasn’t done something regrettable?

Just like who hasn’t done a few mischievous things as a child.

As long as the main energy is still focused on the real economy.

Take the luxury goods sector, for instance; everyone knows that stuff has an outrageously high premium. Rich people spend that money simply to gain a sense of belonging and status.

And in the automotive sector, how many people still buy BBA for their technological feel?

However, there are always people in this world who like to ”be strict with others and lenient with themselves.” These people possess a flexible moral compass—their own transgressions are excusable, but others doing the same is unacceptable.

Thus, various debates arose.

Lin Yuan never thought he would one day become one of them, like Lei Zi; he himself became part of the meme army.

Especially since Lin Yuan was still young and impetuous, he couldn’t help but get into several online arguments with netizens in the early stages.

Lin Yuan expressed some ”profound opinions.”

Such as:

”You contribute money to Tesla, Elon uses it to build rockets, and you gain emotional value. What’s wrong with that?”

”Don’t worry, Tesla Takeout is inherently designed for mid-to-high-end services, so the haters here won’t have much chance of being exploited.”

”If you are truly so righteous, then stop just spouting off online all day. Aren’t you ashamed?”

.

.

Lin Yuan’s emotional online arguments further polarized his reputation.

His fans became even more devoted, while those who disliked him wished they could tear him apart.

However, one thing greatly pleased him: the delivery riders community almost universally held a positive attitude towards Tesla Takeout.

This was because Lin Yuan guaranteed one point—Tesla Takeout is committed to discovering high-end catering delivery demands and using this as its profit point, not focusing on the delivery riderss’ meager delivery fees of twenty or thirty cents.

The delivery riders community immediately cheered with joy; almost every delivery riders group was discussing the benefits and treatment offered by Tesla Takeout.

”I heard there’s a chance to become a full-time Tesla employee with five insurances and one housing fund...”

”I’ll be the first to sign up when Tesla Takeout launches...”

”It’s time to thoroughly rectify these two domestic takeout platforms...”

.

.

This world is truly magical.

The entry of Tesla Takeout delighted the merchants and delivery riderss involved, as they had long suffered under Good Group and Lanbiao Factory.

However, netizens, as outsiders, were not pleased.

Netizens had many concerns, such as data security, capital harvesting, foreign monopoly, and so on.

They were like a group of overgrown babies, failing to understand that there is never anything perfect in this world.

Risk and reward always coexist, because things with no risk would never be touched by social capital.

—

Faced with the strong entry of Tesla Takeout, Good Group and Lanbiao Factory’s online public opinion plan ultimately failed.

This was because the delivery riders and merchant communities had long been displeased with them. Even with numerous hired trolls and a thoroughly muddied online discourse, the voices of dissatisfaction from delivery riderss and merchants simply could not be suppressed.

delivery riderss and merchants largely treated Musk as a benevolent official...

Thus, Good Group and Lanbiao Factory resorted to their last dirty trick—they lobbied the authorities, hoping to stop Tesla from entering the takeout industry at the policy level.

But little did they know, the policy level had long been displeased with these two companies.

Despite their extremely high commission rates, and the takeout market having factually passed the money-burning competition phase, why were these two companies constantly crying about ”not making money”?

The policy level did not want asset-light platform companies to be overly powerful, because all the risks of a takeout platform amounted to nothing more than a bunch of servers and a group of programmers; they didn’t actually need to open restaurants themselves.

Servers are reusable tool-like assets with strong liquidity, at most accounting for some depreciation; in essence, they are just money piled up. As for the programmer group, they can be easily fired with some compensation.

Therefore, the essence of a takeout platform is an asset-light internet landlord.

The heavy asset burden is borne by individual restaurants and eateries, yet merchants unfortunately have no say.

Hence, from the policy level’s perspective, even if Tesla enters, can the takeout industry get any worse?

At least Tesla genuinely won’t focus on squeezing out every last penny from the twenty or thirty cents of delivery fees, as Tesla still needs to consider its brand image.

According to Tesla Takeout’s strategy, the goal is to stimulate consumption among people with purchasing power, particularly the middle class and above, which aligns with current national policies.

Generating profits by discovering demand and stimulating consumption, rather than resorting to every possible means of exploitation, is what the policy level hopes to see.

Thus, the policy level quickly provided a response.

The Shanghai Municipal Government soon made a high-profile announcement: they hoped to replicate the successful cooperation model with Tesla in the electric vehicle sector.

The implicit meaning: let Tesla go ahead and do it.

It’s strange, really.

After the policy level expressed its stance, the negative comments about Lin Yuan online suddenly decreased significantly.

Lin Yuan experienced the capriciousness of online public opinion for the first time—it surged in like a tide and receded just as quickly.

He did not believe that this was all the work of Good Group and Lanbiao Factory’s trolls.

Out of curiosity, Lin Yuan even used technical means to investigate dozens of self-media accounts that had previously slandered him.

He discovered that after the policy level made its statement, these self-media accounts almost immediately shifted to praising him.

Traffic!!!

Lin Yuan believed this was the answer to all questions.

When slandering him brought traffic, people would capitalize on that traffic.

When the policy stick was raised, those people knew it was time to retreat, because even if they gained that traffic, they needed to be alive to spend it.

However, Lin Yuan’s moniker, ”Dragon Kingdom’s Little Musk,” was now thoroughly established.

And one unexpected interlude for Lin Yuan was: Gu Xuan was expelled by Zijin Aviation School after the academy reported him to the school authorities for slandering Lin Yuan online, which affected the school’s reputation.

Only then did Lin Yuan learn that the widely circulated short essay was penned by Gu Xuan.

The school’s strong reaction this time was because Gu Xuan had brought too much negative attention to the school.

While Gu Xuan slandered Lin Yuan, the school was also thoroughly tarnished.

Blackening the school was not Gu Xuan’s intention, but he portrayed Lin Yuan as a slacker who relied on connections since admission. If Zijin Aviation School had such a slacker, wasn’t that also indirectly slandering the school?

A university might tolerate a student’s personal character flaws, but slandering the school’s reputation was intolerable.

Especially since Gu Xuan’s actions were also an act of betrayal—when a classmate was unfairly wronged, he secretly stabbed him in the back.

Gu Xuan’s absurd move offended both the school and his classmates.

Because all the classmates would eventually graduate and look for jobs, if Gu Xuan were not dealt with, it would inevitably make employers question the school’s effectiveness in cultivating students.

As for how Gu Xuan’s absurd move was discovered:

Lin Yuan asked Dean Li and found out: Gu Xuan was reported by a classmate.

Lin Yuan couldn’t be bothered to care why Gu Xuan’s actions became known, or what motivated the person who reported him. Perhaps this was a case of a villain meeting their match.
