Forcing Me to Be a Godly Tycoon, Right?

Zhang Jingdong noticed Lu Zhining’s indecision, and his heart suddenly lightened.

”Senior, I know you might not understand it all at once right now, as liking someone is a very complicated matter.”

”But it’s okay, I’m willing to wait for you, and I believe you’ll eventually understand my true feelings.”

Lu Zhining finally came back to her senses, biting her lip: ”You... let’s not talk about this. As for this necklace, I can’t take it off right now. How much did it cost? I can send you the money.”

Zhang Jingdong responded warmly: ”Senior, if you say that, you’re not just insulting me, you’re also insulting yourself.”

”I didn’t buy it; it’s a testament to our love. If there’s no love between us, then it wouldn’t exist.”

Seeing Zhang Jingdong’s serious expression, Lu Zhining couldn’t help but wonder: Could it be... he’s telling the truth?

But she was afraid she would fall back into that tangled web of thoughts, so she sighed: ”Alright, let’s not talk about this for now.”

”I’ll wear it for now, and if one day it disappears on its own, or I take it off, I’ll return it to you.”

”Senior, true love is...”

”You’re not allowed to say another word!”

Seeing Lu Zhining become anxious again, Zhang Jingdong reluctantly stopped teasing her: ”...Alright.”

Lu Zhining then turned her head to look at the garden outside the window and continued the interview: ”Do you... fear snakes?”

”Not at all.”

”Then what animals do you fear? Or what things do you fear?”

Zhang Jingdong thought quickly and then replied: ”As for animals... I actually have a bit of a fear of cats.”

Lu Zhining immediately looked surprised.

”You’re not afraid of snakes but you’re afraid of cats? Why? Cats are so cute!”

”Because if I encounter a snake, I can immediately determine it’s dangerous, and then all I need to do is avoid it or scare it away.”

”But as for cats... We had a cat at home when I was young. At first, I knew nothing, but after spending some time with it, I discovered cats have incredibly complex personalities.”

”When they’re happy, they play very well with you, but when they’re not, they become very melancholic, and coaxing them is incredibly difficult, often taking a long time to restore their happiness.”

”Moreover, they have lots of tricks. For instance, it would pretend to be pitiful to get your attention.”

”What left the deepest impression on me was when our cat suddenly had a lame leg and I had no idea why.”

”I took it to the local vet, but even the vet couldn’t figure out the cause, suggesting it would be best to let it rest.”

”I brought it home and cheered it up every day, playing with it.”

”One day, I went out with my mom, and when we came back, I was worried about disturbing its sleep, so I tiptoed as I entered the house.”

”And that’s when I saw something truly astonishing. My lame cat nimbly leaped straight onto the bed.”

”I stood there dumbfounded for several minutes.”

”Soon the cat noticed me and its face turned red, not literally, but its expression showed embarrassment.”

”It turned out it had been pretending to be lame to get my affection.”

”Later, when I was in junior high, it left me forever.”

”Since then, I’ve been particularly afraid of cats, fearing I’d be unable to resist raising another cat, lose myself in the joy of being with it, only to ultimately lose that joy.”

Lu Zhining suddenly understood.

Though Zhang Jingdong spoke as if casually, with restraint, she could deeply feel how wonderful and sweet his time with the cat must have been.

Suddenly a nameless emotion touched her heart.

She realized that the man before her was truly intricate.

Yet every aspect of him was fascinating, confirming again that he was the protagonist she wanted to write about.

As Lu Zhining was lost in various musings, Zhang Jingdong suddenly turned to ask her: ”Do you like cats?”

Lu Zhining was initially startled, then nodded: ”I do.”

”Do you have a cat?”

”I do.”

”How many?”

”Just one.”

”What’s its name?”

”Mao Mao.”

”Why did you name it that?”

”Because... because it has a lot of fur.”

”Promise me to cherish your time with it and to love it well.”

Lu Zhining’s heart trembled, then she pretended to be nonchalant: ”I don’t need you to tell me; I’ll love it well.”

After saying this, Lu Zhining couldn’t contain her curiosity: ”What was your cat’s name?”

”Mao Qiu.”

”Why did you name it that?”

”Because it not only had a lot of fur but also looked very much like a ball when it curled up.”

Lu Zhining stared dumbfounded at Zhang Jingdong.

She noticed his gaze was unusually pure at that moment and his expression carried a mix of joy and melancholy; he truly seemed like a university student at that instant.

It took her a whole minute before she continued to ask: ”Cats are like our family. Speaking of family, let’s talk about your parents.”

”Describe your parents using three words each.”

”My mom... kind, hardworking, beautiful. My dad... serious, responsible, afraid of my mom.”

”What’s your deepest memory of them?”

”About my mom... I remember when I was in high school, I made a mistake, I think during nighttime self-study. Some classmates and I skipped class to go online and were caught by the grade supervisor, who then told my class teacher to call my parents.”
