As A Maid, I Can Fix Her!

Chapter 63: Chapter 62 - Write Magic Book Challenge

Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg stared at me non-stop.

It was the look of someone curious about something, but reluctant to ask for the answer.

As an author who understands Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg’s personality, I already know... those questioning gazes will be directed at the Gravitia Break magic spell. A magic spell rarely seen by mages in the Kingdom of Belfast.

I ignored the curious stares and drank my cup of lemon tea quietly, enduring its strong sourness. This light punishment was far better than being physically punished by the Head Maid.

The warm, sour tea went down my throat, quenching my thirst and relieving the fatigue from this extreme training.

The Head Maid placed a piece of bread in front of me. It was enough for breakfast, and I could continue my magic training with Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg.

”You use a unique magic spell.” Unable to contain her curiosity, the Marchioness spoke to me.

She stared at me with her hand on the rim of her teacup, stroking it to ease the awkwardness, and using words that didn’t betray her curiosity.

”Hum??” of course, I responded with Liliana’s innocent answer.

This little girl who pretends to be innocent; I will soon get used to smiling without guilt.

”You use wandless magic. It’s a unique way of channeling magic and requires intense concentration to maintain the visual of the magic in your head. Your mind power is strong enough to cast magic and wield a sword at the same time.”

”With regular training, you will become a maid skilled in cleaning and extermination,” said the Marchioness, her final words sharply emphatic.

Extermination, huh?

It’s a dark term often used by noble families to describe a group of people to wash their hands of something... without dirtying their hands or involving their names.

Like assassins who work to clean something by destroying it.

Such a dark side was spoken out loud directly by Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg, without any hesitation.

Hadn’t she seen how weak Liliana was?

It’s not that I’m arrogant about my defeat in this training.

I just... don’t want the hassle of meeting her expectations.

”Hmm??” I kept Liliana’s innocent expression, pretending not to understand what the Marchioness said, and enjoyed a piece of bread for breakfast.

Noomm...

Noomm...

The sensation of a soft, warm slice of bread mixed with a cup of warm lemon tea.

It’s a strange taste, indeed.

But I don’t want to make a big deal out of it.

Baaaammm!!

Baassshhh!!

Breakfast was accompanied by domestic violence—uh, I mean, the hilarity of other people’s households. It was entertaining. If this were a television show in the world of this novel, it would definitely get high ratings. Watching a married couple with the titles of Duke and Duchess attack each other with their bare hands freed me up to enjoy breakfast and ignore the Marchioness’s remarks.

The Head Maid, who saw me being too relaxed, just shook her head.

”I don’t know what to say. You’re too much like the troublemaking Young Miss Reina, Liliana,” the Head Maid said in a small voice.

I heard her voice clearly.

I look like Master Reina?

From which side?

This Head Maid who always works seriously... Sometimes she becomes strange like this.

Noomm...

Noomm...

My mouth was full of bread, chewing gently, and swallowing slowly. The Duke and Duchess were almost finished with their fight. The Duchess’s hand moved too quickly to escape the Duke’s parry. It slipped several times and struck the Duke’s face, pressing down with a hard punch until his cheek was red.

Baaammm!!

Baaassshh!!

The Duchess’s attack ended with her grabbing the Duke by the collar and pulling him to the side, slamming him hard onto the ground, and locking his wrists with one hand.

Duke’s utter defeat made me sigh heavily.

”Horrible... Really horrible,” I muttered softly after seeing all that.

”Will I survive and see tomorrow?” That melancholy question made my breakfast taste bland.

Undergoing sword training from the Duchess was already hard, and I have to take magic training from the Marchioness?

What’s there... I won’t survive to live tomorrow.

”You will be safe to live tomorrow. My magic training is not as complicated as the Duchess who thinks with her stupid muscles,” said Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg with harsh sarcasm to the Duchess.

I immediately glanced at the Duchess, who was approaching and dragging the Duke’s leg, which somehow felt like deja vu.

Oh, that’s right. I was once in the Duke’s shoes and was dragged by Master Reina’s feet.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, huh?

”Haaahhh...” My heavy breath was the answer to the Marchioness’s words.

”In magical theory, you already understand the basic principles of using magic. I won’t train you in a harsh way. I guess you are the type of woman who always thinks calmly before doing something and is creative.”

”I don’t know, Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg. Is that really how I look to you?” I replied after finishing my breakfast.

”Not to bad, I think...”

”H-Huuh?

”After seeing the sword training you underwent with the Duchess, I changed my opinion of you to be more exclusively, Liliana.”

I could feel another nightmare descending before my eyes.

”An ordinary magic training will be boring for you...”

I knew that would happen.

There are already two nobles who have high expectations for me!

And what’s worse... I couldn’t prevent it from happening!

What kind of bad luck am I facing?

”Please don’t be too serious with me. I don’t know anything as an apprentice maid.”

”You really don’t know anything. That’s why I’m going to train you from the basics.”

”Why does that sound troublesome to my ears?”

”It won’t be a troublesome. In fact, it’s very easy to do.”

Snap!!

Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg snapped her fingers, casting a small spell that conjured a thick book with a small title on it.

”Basics of magic for beginner mages?” I muttered after seeing the thick magic book fall in front of me.

Braakk!!

The magic book was so thick that the small table containing warm tea and pieces of bread for breakfast shook slightly.

”The first exercise for you is... to read it.”

”Much easier than physical training—” Before I finished my words, my hand opened the first page of the magic book, and I saw a thick, irregular arrangement of paragraphs.

Fllaapp...

Flaaapp...

There is no uniformity in the writing; it is completely messy to read and full of thin lines that overlap each other’s writing.

The thin scribbles were like the writing of someone’s personal opinion.

”It’s more like a notebook than a basic magic book, and the wording is complicated,” I continued as I read a line of a paragraph explaining the concept of magic.

”A poetic book of magic.” I said in full surprised.

”Full of meaning, but forgetting its main purpose in teaching the principles of magic.”

”In fact, it can be shortened to... magic is a sacred blessing given by the Goddess to all living creatures in this world. There is no other pleasure more enjoyable than being grateful for the ability to cast magic by imagining the form of magic and casting it.”

”Oh, that would sound like scripture.”

”It wouldn’t be a problem to create a new magic book to make it easier to learn, right?” I asked Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg.

My hands moved nonstop, trying to discern the intricate grammar that resembled a classic novel. It felt like finding treasure among a pile of trash.

The little scribbles containing questions in the lines of the paragraphs made me laugh. There’s no other meaning to question, and sometimes the metaphors are too serious.

This reminded me of my first experience reading a magic book with Master Amagi. She seemed to struggle with the complex grammar and the use of Japanese-based language.

Yes, it will make it feel complicated for people who don’t understand it.

Even though the essence of the writing is not too serious.

Is it possible... that metaphors in this world are taken seriously as something real?

It’s not like that, is it?

My eyes kept moving, skimming the lines and paragraphs that caught my attention. Reading every little scribble made me laugh and felt good.

”Imagining the sun to ignite a cast of sparks... that’s too much and dangerous, right?”

”Who is the fool who would do such a stupid thing?”

”Casting magic spells requires verbal utterance?”

”Then what about the wizards who can’t speak?”

”This magic book is really funny with all kinds of comments.”

For some reason, I started reading with full concentration and ignoring everything around me.

This thick, old, and crammed magic book was truly fascinating to read. Knowing someone struggling to learn magic and their humorous, big questions sparked a long-lost passion for writing in me.

”I want to write a magic book to make it easier to understand and answer these funny questions,” I muttered happily after reading the first Chapter.

Ploopppp...

I closed the magic book and smiled, a natural smile I hadn’t realized I had until I saw my reflection in the warm teacup surface.

”Hmm?” I felt strange looks from the people around me.

”Why are you all looking at me like you’re shocked?” I asked after observing everyone’s eyes fixated on my face.

Snap!!

Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg suddenly snapped her fingers again, producing a thick blank book and a quill complete with ink refills.

”It seems you have a new goal in writing magic book.”

”I’ll read it...”

”Seeing you smiling happily after reading that thick magic book makes me sure that you have discovered something big.”

”I can’t wait to read your magic book, Liliana.”

Suddenly, I got another assignment to write a magic book with my own understanding.

Wait... I didn’t mumble in a loud voice, did I?

Why did Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg give me a book-writing kit?

What kind of mistake did I just make?!!
