As A Maid, I Can Fix Her!

Chapter 119: Chapter 17 - Chaos Hours In Kitchen

That afternoon, I was facing a grueling crisis in my life. The bottle of spicy mayonnaise I’d made as a secret sauce was now a sauce that the maids in Duke Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s main kitchen had to learn to make.

My little ploy to get Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s stomach ache and craving spicy sandwiches was only partially successful. It worked because the Duke’s family liked a mild kick in their sandwiches, but it failed on the stomach-ache front.

Whether their stomachs were well-trained or they had a high tolerance for spicy food, no one experienced an upset stomach. Even I was surprised by this bitter truth.

The Head Maid, who was ordered to find me and ask about this secret sauce, had no choice but to learn it with me. It only took a few ingredients, a little control of magic, and the patience to shake a glass bottle to make spicy mayonnaise.

That’s the only lesson I can teach her.

Besides the Head Maid, Liliana’s biological mother also tried making spicy mayonnaise using simple equipment in the main kitchen. However, the quality of the spicy mayonnaise she produced was not as good as the one I had made using the Wind Pool magic incantation.

With those two different results, I was forced to do a trial run with the Head Maid and my mother.

”I didn’t know there was a recipe like this in our old house, Liliana. Did Grandma give you her recipe book before she died?” my mother asked, exhausted, after stirring the spicy mayonnaise mixture into a glass bottle.

Unlike the method I use, the traditional method used by my mother is just my invention to cover up my knowledge of cooking recipes from my previous life.

There’s no way I’m saying this spicy mayonnaise recipe uses an electric blender with sharp, three-sided blades that spin rapidly, right?

I would be considered a crazy apprentice maid if I gave such an explanation like that!

Oh! But the Wind Pool spell I used earlier was prove to be successful, because it was the easiest and least complicated way to mix all the ingredients to spicy sauce.

”At least pay attention to every cooking recipe in the house, Mom!”

”Didn’t Grandma tell you many times to memorize our family’s recipes!”

”And keep moving your hands to mix all the ingredients until it becomes spicy mayonnaise!”

While my remarks might have sounded harsh to my own mother, I tried to remain objective. My trial and error would prove useful in the future. If a maid asked for a spicy mayonnaise recipe, I’d simply give it. Some of the maids in the kitchen had already known what I was doing, because the request to make spicy mayonnaise came in so suddenly, they were caught up in the same task as me.

”I don’t want to remember this long and complicated recipe!” my mother shouted, holding back her sobs and continuing to stir the ingredients in the glass jar.

Liliana’s biological mother sometimes has traits that are beneficial to me, there are some things she hates and deliberately forgets something, but that is an opportunity for a plot hole that I can use to insert knowledge from my old life.

The fact that my mother didn’t particularly enjoy cooking, not helping my grandmother in the kitchen, or memorizing lengthy recipes, it was an advantage I could use to infuse my old knowledge.

Luckily, Liliana in the past was a helpful little girl with a good memory. This wouldn’t raise any serious suspicions that I had possessed Liliana’s body. By playing with words and doubting my mother’s weak memory, it was already a plausible and irrefutable excuse.

”It’s your fault, Mom! So work hard to remember Grandma’s forgotten recipes!” I said enthusiastically as I watched all maids helping us with our work.

”I’d rather water the plants in the garden than cooking!” my mother grumbled, looking exhausted after the glass bottle in her hand turned into spicy mayonnaise.

”Haaahhh!! Haaaahhh!! What is this cooking recipe that’s making me so exhausted! Isn’t there an easier way to make spicy mayonnaise, Liliana?” my mother continued to ask while wiping the sweat that was rolling down her forehead.

I didn’t answer that question because I was watching the Head Maid who was making spicy mayonnaise using the Wind Pool magic incantation.

Without saying a word, my gaze shifted to my mother’s, directed to the glass bottle the Head Maid was holding. Of all the ingredients in the glass bottle, the hardest to crush were four hard-boiled eggs. They were too hard to crush quickly, along with the other ingredients, which felt heavy with each stir.

Stirring and mixing such ingredients will not be optimal if you use your hands; that’s why magical abilities are needed to make spicy mayonnaise quickly.

Swwiirrrrlll...

Swwiirrrrlll...

The Head Maid looked extremely cautious as she cast the Wind Pool spell. A strong vortex of wind at the bottom of the glass bottle shook violently in her hands. Without the ability to control her magic or the physical ability to hold the glass bottle from slipping and falling, it would be a disaster.

After all, this spicy mayonnaise recipe was the most troublesome sauce ever created by humans in this novel’s world.

Swwiiirrlll...

Swwiiirrlll...

Still not saying a word to my mother, I tried to show her the difference between physical strength and magical power in making recipes.

”...” My mother’s eyes went blank after seeing the glass bottle in Head Maid’s hand turn into spicy mayonnaise in a matter of seconds.

”Liliana, you deliberately taught me... our grandmother’s most complicated recipes, didn’t you?” my mother asked, her blank eyes staring at me.

”Why would I do that? Grandma’s recipe is easy, Mom!” I replied innocently to cover up my little lie.

Whether this ends well or badly, preventing the popularity of spicy mayonnaise as a secret sauce on my handmade sandwiches is far too late.

”Head Maid, should we consider this trial and error as a failure?”

”As far as I can see, the creamy texture of spicy mayonnaise can only be achieved by casting powerful wind magic to mix all the ingredients,” I said while looking at the Head Maid who already made three bottles of spicy mayonnaise.

The Head Maid stared at me, while her mind filled with questions. She didn’t say them directly to me, but they were clearly visible on her face.

”The main obstacle is mixing the hard-boiled ingredients, right?”

”Whipping it manually would probably take a long time and end in failure. Furthermore, this spicy mayonnaise has a creamy texture that’s difficult to achieve without mixing the ingredients quickly.”

I listened intently to the Head Maid’s words. I nodded in agreement. With all the maids off duty, they helped make the spicy mayonnaise and tested to find the most effective method. Unfortunately, the easy method was the magic cooking technique.

”It’s a shame I couldn’t find a good reason to make this spicy mayonnaise a rare commodity in this Main Mansion. That way, I could control all of the Duchess’s decisions in the palm of my hand.”

”Making her suffer and unable to resist eating a spicy mayonnaise sandwich would be a pleasure...”

The Head Maid’s words turned into a terrible mumble. Her voice was quiet, but I could hear her words clearly. That wasn’t something a maid who swore loyalty to Duchess should say. Controlling a Duchess who wants to eat a spicy mayonnaise sandwich, who knows what bad plans the Head Maid is thinking of.

She didn’t even hesitate to smile with bad intentions...

I ignored the Head Maid, who was lost in her own thoughts, making sure I didn’t get involved in anything she was planning for Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld.

My post-lunch assignment was to make a stock of spicy mayonnaise, which coincidentally... coincided with a trial run of making spicy mayonnaise and a hands-on experience. It was like rowing between two islands, or killing two birds with one stone.

Some spicy mayonnaises succeed, while others fail with clumpy oil bubbles.

All these failures and successes were done to fulfill the request of the Duke family, who wanted to eat a sandwich filled with spicy mayonnaise in the future.

The stock of spicy mayonnaise that was successfully made was indeed large, but it would easily spoil if not stored in the right place.

It wouldn’t be funny if spicy mayonnaise gave you a stomach ache not because it was spicy, but because it was stale, right?

”Uhm, Liliana, what should I do with this?” my mother asked, showing me a fancy ribbon with magical runes carved into the fabric.

That was the answer to a question I’d been pondering. Something I desperately needed in my old world, and I wished it existed. My mother held a luxurious ribbon, a long-term food seal. It had been personally given to the Head Maid by Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg on the condition that I make three bottles of spicy mayonnaise for her.

The Duchess, unwilling to lose out on the food seal, immediately sent the Head Maid to force me to make spicy mayonnaise. The whole plan went so smoothly that I didn’t know what else to do.

”Just tie it on the glass bottle cap, right?” I replied as I tied the bottle cap with food seal.

Crrreesshhh...

Creeeessshhh...

The rune magic engraved on the food seal, immediately reacted.

I don’t know how long the spicy mayonnaise will last without spoiling, but my task is definitely done for today.

”Ooohh... just tie it up, huh?” my mother said as she tied the glass bottle containing her spicy mayonnaise.

”I never thought I’d eat grandma’s cooking again, Liliana.”

”You must have loved it so much that you were able to memorize that long recipe...”

Oh, the Great Goddess in this novel world...

Please don’t repay my lie with bad karma in the future...

I beg you!!
