As A Maid, I Can Fix Her!

Chapter 114: Chapter 12 - Enjoying My Breakfast

BLAAAARRRR!!

BOOOM!!

SHRRREEESSSHHH!!

PAAANNNGG!!

If there’s one skill I’ve mastered, it’s probably the ability to treat the events around me as insignificant white noise. The Head Maid and Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s fight escalated to the point that Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg intervened. She cast a barrier spell on the front garden of the Duke Main Mansion and ensured they could fight to their heart’s content.

That was far better than dragging other maids into the mess, and it also reduced the risk of damage to the front garden. While most of the damage came from the swift punch and the throwing knives, which created strange holes in the Main Mansion’s perimeter wall, at least... it prevented the throwing knives from entering the civilian residence.

Duke Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s main mansion is in his main city, not the Royal Capital of Belfast, which is the main symbol of the Kingdom of Belfast and the primary residence of the King and Queen of Belfast.

The Duke Adelheid Von Blutfeld family controls this city, with all his will.

If I use the language from my old life, this ducal family ruled several cities that were classified as provincial areas.

So big? Yes, it is so big...

The province itself consists of various cities, and this Main Mansion stands in the main city, directly managed by the Duke Adelheid Von Blutfeld family. It’s far from the main road, but it’s still dangerous. We’re talking about knife throws that exceed the speed of sound. Passing through the barrier without breaking outer perimeter, it can be dangerous for unlucky pedestrian.

For the sake of Master Reina’s bright future, I was forced to use her own birth mother as an example of vulgar nobility, who did not reflect the elegant, mature actions of a noble lady.

Caress...

Caress...

Making sure the sweat on Master Reina’s neck was clean, I immediately helped the other maids prepare another breakfast... for myself.

Today’s breakfast was toasted sliced bread, a mixture of egg yolks that were larger than normal chicken eggs, pieces of dried meat from who knows what animal it came from, and a bowl of fresh vegetables made into a salad.

I expected a noble morning meal to be luxurious, but this seemed like a breakfast to stave off hunger before the main course was brought out.

It’s really simple and looks like food from my old life when I was too lazy to cook.

”This looks different from usual,” said Master Reina while holding a knife and fork in her hands.

”Yes, it looks different. I agree with that,” chimed in Master Amagi, who also felt the change in her breakfast menu.

I don’t mind the generous portion size of this breakfast. With a little tweaking, it can be made into a delicious sandwich using all the ingredients available.

I think it will be a new breakfast experience for Master Reina and Master Amagi.

”It’s different. Because this food is needed to slowly increase your mana capacity,” said Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg while holding a fork in her hand and picking up a vegetable salad. She ate it with a flat expression, as if forcing herself to eat the tasteless vegetables in front of her eyes.

”S-Slowly increasing my mana capacity?” Master Amagi muttered as she stabbed her fork into her plate of dried meat.

The dried meat looks like flattened pieces of chicken, like katsu chicken, but without the tempting katsu chicken sauce. Instead, it looks like dried meat that’s been baked until it becomes paper-like, wrinkled by the heat. Its thin, dry-roasted texture makes it easy to break with the slightest pressure. The best way to eat it is with a spoon, but it will ended up crushed, that why I using a piece of toasted bread to eat them.

”After hearing Liliana’s suggestion that mana leakage could be treated by increasing mana capacity, the Duchess immediately ordered her maids to purchase food ingredients that could slowly increase mana capacity.”

”It doesn’t taste good, but you should get used to eating it quickly to avoid the mana leakage disease.”

Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg sounds like a mother who frightening her daughter with a rare disease in the novel’s world. It’s a rare disease, indeed, as its primary cause is excessive mana regeneration, not a disease that easily get by everyone.

Furthermore, only a handful of people can regenerate their mana quickly. Whether that a blessing or curse, it depends on their daily magic usage and mana capacity.

For my average self, my mana capacity is quite large, but my mana regeneration is pathetically slow. Even drinking mana regeneration potions isn’t enough to fully replenish my mana capacity.

”Is that what the Princess experienced?” asked Master Amagi, who seemed to know who her mother was referring to.

”Yes, that Princess. You’re good friends with her, right, Amagi?”

”Does sitting for five hours with her count as being good friends with her?”

”I don’t know; it looks like you’re close, talking quietly with her. You also seem close to Reina.”

”I’m not close to Reina!” Master Amagi retorted, staring into her mother’s eyes with annoyance.

Master Reina looked busy eating her breakfast; she didn’t even listen to Master Amagi’s retorted, as she felt she wasn’t close with her.

That would be their business in the future. Meddling in their relationship will not bring them closer. They need to get along on their own terms, without coercion, or others pushing their relationships.

I sat in a chair a little further away from the three of them, allowing the other maids to serve breakfast for them. My hands were busy arranging the toasted bread, placing fried egg yolks on thin slices of meat, and picking up some vegetables to assemble into sandwiches.

It wasn’t as bad as I had imagined; at least it was still similar to the sandwiches I knew in my old life.

Nyyooommm...

Nyyooommm...

Without a knife or fork, I held my sandwich with both hands, looks like a uneducated maid, who eating without any knowledge of the manners and etiquette of aristocratic dining.

I did use both hands to hold my sandwich, and I covered my hands with the clean handkerchief that the Head Maid had provided.

Even though it looks strange, it keeps my hands clean from the oil stains that stick to the sliced bread that has been burned.

Krreessshhh...

Kreeeesshhh...

The crispiness of the toasted sliced bread blends perfectly with the sensation of the roasted dried meat and the fried egg yolk, creating a savory, salty sensation, and the fresh vegetables neutralize the saltiness even better.

It doesn’t taste too bad as a sandwich...

Honestly, I love the salty taste balanced with the fresh vegetables in it.

The salad that was supposed to be enjoyed separately now tastes like a sin of delicious food in my mouth...

Somehow, living in another world and tasting food from my home world wasn’t so bad.

Krrreeesshhh...

Kreeessshhh...

The toasted, dry slices of bread were crispy with every bite. I even ignored the curious stares of the maids around me, who were so curious by the food in my hands.

Master Amagi and Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg also looked at me; they noticed the sandwich in my hand, which used ingredients not much different from their breakfast.

”It looks really delicious, Liliana,” said Master Amagi, who was very curious about the sandwich in my hand.

”Yes, this is really delicious!” I replied while enjoying the salty sensation coming from the roasted dried meat.

My eyelids fluttered shut a few times, savoring the salty sensation that exploded in my mouth and was neutralized by the fresh vegetables.

”Huumm~ so good...” the little squeal from the delicious taste of this sandwich was unbearable; even my mouth was busy looking for the egg yolk, which was full of a slightly sweet taste with a creamy, salty texture like butter.

”That looks quite delicious. Food from your hometown, Liliana?” asked Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg, who, for some reason, picked up a slice of bread with vegetables piled on top.

”My hometown doesn’t have food like this. It’s just food that I created out of a whim,” I replied with a made-up excuse.

I can’t think of any other reason than that; sandwiches shouldn’t exist in this novel’s world and look like a mess food. The idea of stacking friend egg yolks on bread already seems strange in this novel’s world, let alone stacking vegetables and meat on top of bread.

Without the added seasoning of mayonnaise and ketchup, it would be a bland taste, and unappetizing meal. But because Duchess buys high-quality ingredients, it tastes delicious in my mouth.

Kreeeessshhh...

Kreeeessshhh...

I continued eating my sandwich with my eyes closed, savoring every bit of deliciousness I could find in this spare moment. My ears, which had treated the Head Maid and Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s battle as white noise, suddenly stopped hearing it.

Maybe my ears had tuned off the information, and my brain deemed it not a threat and already bored by it.

For now... I was busy eating my sandwich and forgot what was happening around me.

Srruuuuttt...

Srruuuuttt...

Suddenly, my hand... who holding the sandwich felt a sudden, fleeting sensation of loss. It was as if the sandwich in my hand, simply vanished from my hand.

”Oh my... What are you eating, Liliana? Looks so delicious” asked a familiar voice in my ears.

Kreeeesssshhh...

”Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld, you should have split it with me.”

”Don’t eat it alone!”

Krrreeessshhh...

Without opening my eyelids, I could already guess what happened to my sandwich.

That voices in my ears belonged to Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld and the Head Maid, who had apparently just finished their little fight in the background. I slowly opened my eyes and saw the two of them standing before me. Their hands, grimy from hand-to-hand combat and knife throwing, were now fighting over the sandwich I had just taken a bite of.

”...” I didn’t say anything after opening my eyes.

To me, they both looked like a dog and a cat who are always fighting all the time.

This time, the main victim was my half-eaten sandwich that was my breakfast menu today.
