As A Maid, I Can Fix Her!

Chapter 118: Chapter 16 - A Failed Disaster

This lunchtime, I smiled with delight after making a lot of spicy mayonnaise. My irritation with Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s, who forced me to cooking lunch was over after spicy sandwiches were served.

I divided the sandwich into two portions: a normal portion that would surely be finished with a normal taste, and a surprise portion that was incredibly spicy addictively.

I didn’t know what was going to happen next, so I retreated to my room to relax and enjoy my lunch sandwich. Lunch time was over once my hands stopped making sandwiches, and all other sandwich-related matters were the responsibility of the maids in the main kitchen.

My goal at the moment is to relax, read a basic magic book, and laze around for a while on this hot afternoon.

Sitting in a chair next to the open window, a cool breeze brushed against my sweaty body. It felt so cool that it made a living magic book flap its cover and fly toward me.

Fllaapp...

Fllaapp...

”You look happy this afternoon. Something exciting has happened, hasn’t it?” asked the living magic book.

Normally, she’d utter such innocent, annoying remarks. But not this time; it seemed she’d learned some manners and the meaning of annoying stupidity.

If she did something stupid again, the sunflowers growing near the window would surely shoot explosive sunflower seeds at her again. Besides making a mess on the floor, the explosion would also be loud and easily attract everyone’s attention.

It wasn’t as loud as fireworks exploding in the sky, but the firecrackers were enough to startle shock.

”Not really, I just feel happy after getting my revenge,” I replied while taking a piece of my homemade spicy sandwich.

Krreesshhh...

Krreesshhh...

The crispy edges of the toast met spicy mayonnaise, which wasn’t too bad, though I did regret making it light-spicy.

Well, at least it’s not too bad to enjoy for lunch.

”Hearing it from you firsthand. I can guess what happened. I saw it earlier. Forced to throw a knife at another little girl, right?”

”Yeah, that’s one of my pet peeves, but it’s not the main one.”

”Then what?” The living magic book fell onto my lap, letting its big yellow eyes stare at me.

The basic magic book I was reading while eating lunch was now a display lying on the windowsill.

”It was just a matter of lunch. I’m not very good at cooking and was forced to cook. So, I deliberately did something related to a stomachache.”

”Why do you sound like a criminal washing away your sins in the confessional?”

”It’s okay, right? This is a small sin I made to atone for my annoyance. My handmade sandwiches may be spicy, but they’re still delicious, and everyone will be addicted to them. I can guarantee that. Even the price is stomachache.”

The reflection of the glass window in front of me displayed my facial expression with a scary smile.

”Please restrain that frightening expression in front of me. I don’t want to see someone who can cast holy magic become a rotten villain.”

”You’ll be seeing more of it later...”

”I don’t want to see it as often as possible!” the living magic book argued, its big yellow eyes widening at me.

Krrreeesshhh...

Kreeeesshhh...

Enjoying lunch, lazily reading a basic magic book, and joking around with a living magic book that I can play pranks on.

Somehow, this feels comfortable at this lunch hour...

I had half a bite left of my spicy sandwich. This was the first time I’d ever finished an entire sandwich without anyone interrupting me. No one snatched my sandwich, took a bite to try it, or simply disappeared into someone else’s mouth.

Knnoocckk...

Knnoocckk...

There was a knock on my bedroom door. I immediately clamped my mouth shut, not letting a single word escape. My presence in this bedroom must remain undetected.

Why am I doing this?

Isn’t that obvious? Because I did something to the sandwich that was for lunch today.

Ignoring the knock on my bedroom door, I continued eating my spicy sandwich, enjoying the cool breeze against my body. I had nothing to worry about. After all, the maids in the kitchen had learned the sandwich recipe.

”Liliana?” a voice called out from behind the bedroom door. The knocking grew louder until my bite of sandwich was drowned out by knocking sound.

I still wanted to laze around in my bedroom some more, but this sounded like a last-minute task that came after lunch.

”You look busy today. Besides that horrible training. What else do you have coming up?”

”I don’t know either. I’m not usually this busy.”

”You’d better finish your business first and fix that creepy smiling expression of yours. People will think you’re doing something evil that goes against the teachings of the Great Goddess.”

”Ugh, why do I sound like a bad character now?”

”Because... that’s what’s probably happening right now!”

The words of the living holy magic book were piercing, but they were also true. My face lit up with a smile that seemed to come from nowhere, like a mastermind, who controlling the situation from behind the scenes.

With lazy footsteps, I put the plate of spicy sandwiches and basic magic books on the small table beside the bed.

”Don’t worry about what’s in the room. The sunflower and I will take care of it!” said the holy magic book as it flapped its cover.

Fllaapp...

Fllaapp...

Her flapping of the book cover sent a strong wind into my room, sweeping away the basic magic book that was originally on the small table next to the bed, throwing it onto the dressing table that had been converted into my study table.

”Never put a book on a table where food has been served. Take good care of it and put it in its proper place!” shouted the living magic book as it pushed me toward the exit with a powerful gust of wind.

It seems like there is a small grudge that she wants to take back from me.

Knnoocckk...

Knnoocckk...

The knocking on my bedroom door grew louder and sound annoying, like someone was impatient to see me.

Krraaakkk...

Turning the doorknob of my room slowly, I saw the shadow of someone I didn’t expect.

”Uh, Head Maid?” I said after seeing the Head Maid smiling at the door with another maid I knew.

In front of my bedroom door, the Head Maid stood with the other maids I’d met earlier. They were the maids responsible for cooking in the main kitchen.

”It’s so crowded? Did something happen?” I asked with an innocent smile.

I had expected this to be a problem, but I didn’t expect it to become one so quickly.

”...” The Head Maid was silent; she looked at me from head to toe.

If it was about that addictive spicy mayonnaise sandwich, the Head Maid would undoubtedly drag me into a direct conversation. There was no such thing as a knock on my bedroom door, and I will be dragged out to meet Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld, immediately.

”Thank goodness you didn’t take a nap after creating something that shook the Duke’s main dining room.”

”H-Huuhh?? W-What?”

Putting on Liliana’s innocent face mask, I pretended not to know anything.

”Ohh... maybe this will make you understand what I’m saying.”

The Head Maid took out the glass bottle I’d used to hold the spicy mayonnaise earlier. The glass bottle, which should have been full, was now nearly empty, with a few splashes of spicy mayonnaise at the edge of the bottle that were difficult to reach with a spoon, and they were left there.

”E-Ehh??” I muttered as Liliana’s masked expression changed from one of cluelessness to one of confusion.

”Yes, Liliana. This thing you made... somehow became the main hit of this lunch. Even though it was a casual lunch without a full course. But you ruined it by serving this dangerous thing,” replied the Head Maid with an expression on her face that wanted to say something in my ear.

”To be honest, I also like the taste that makes me addicted,” she continued in a whisper that only I could hear.

This is different from what I planned!

The original plan was to add spicy mayonnaise to the sandwich to give people a stomach ache!

Don’t get addicted to the spicy taste of this chili!

This is not what I expected!

I also looked at the maids who were on duty in the kitchen; they looked at me with sparkling eyes and seemed to be begging me.

Kiirraa...

Kiirraa...

”W-What does that have to do with me? I didn’t do anything wrong with that, did I?” I said, pointing to the glass bottle in the Head Maid’s hand.

”Nothing wrong, it’s just that... it might be a bit of a hassle for you to make the same thing for all the maids and butlers on duty at the Main Mansion. After they accidentally tasted it. They were addicted to the strong taste that burned their tongues non-stop,” said the Head Maid, who for some reason received support from all the maids on duty in the kitchen.

Nod...

Nod...

Nod...

They all nodded their heads simultaneously.

”I-I see, now it becomes clear why a bottle of spicy mayonnaise can be used up so quickly.”

”Y-You all are enjoying that spicy taste with happiness, huh?”

I couldn’t find the right words for this.

My original plan was to make a spicy lunch, risking a stomach ache. But that plan backfired when everyone in the Main Mansion, fall in love and addicted to spicy mayonnaise.

Can this be... a bad karma for me?

”Yes, so be responsible and stock up on spicy mayonnaise!” said the Head Maid, making me regret it.
