Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Before Li Younan officially set off for the Northeast, according to tradition, he naturally went to visit his grandparents.

For them, the pleasures of life were no longer as rich.

But ever since Li Younan helped them renovate the old house into a homestay, the little courtyard became lively and the days more interesting.

However, the hustle and bustle from outsiders could never be as comforting as the company of family, so every time Li Younan came to visit them, they always seemed especially delighted.

The night before leaving, Li Younan shared his upcoming plans with his mom.

His mom was very calm, only reminding him with some general advice like ”be safe.”

Clearly, his mom wasn’t exactly indifferent to him going far away, but at least she was unperturbed.

This was nice.

Actually, from his mom’s perspective, having her son at home was certainly great.

Among other things, Li Younan would pick her up from work and cook meals.

During this period, with Li Younan at home, the quality of meals improved significantly, and she stopped eating at the office canteen.

But when the time was just right, a little longer, she’d feel some unspeakable unease.

She felt that her son—an outstanding student from a prestigious university, handsome, staying home all day cooking and cleaning—wasn’t quite a good look.

Of course, she wasn’t bored herself.

She didn’t hate working; for her, the work in the finance department wasn’t so busy that she couldn’t even find time to drink water.

Most of the time, a few women in the office chatted while eating sunflower seeds, which was quite interesting.

Only when preparing reports would she be a bit busier, but it was manageable, only requiring overtime maybe twice a year.

In a few more years, she’d reach retirement age, and the bank could implement an internal retirement policy; many middle-level leaders and even branch executives were younger than her and treated her with courtesy, not assigning her too much work.

For her, the time when Li Younan wasn’t home meant working earnestly without disengaging from society.

Thinking about it, the time she could work wasn’t long anymore. After working for so many years, suddenly retiring brought about a hint of melancholy.

So, when Li Younan said he was going out to travel again, his mom wasn’t sentimental, but even a bit happy.

...

According to the plan, Li Younan brought along Chen Rui.

This kind of pure travel didn’t really involve any burden; bringing along Chen Rui was more like having a companion on the journey.

This time, Li Younan didn’t plan to drive; he parked the car under the community’s canopy parking spot, turned off the battery, and decided to take public transport.

Chen Rui took a taxi to pick him up. To Li Younan’s surprise, Chen Rui had surprisingly few belongings, only carrying a backpack.

In contrast, Li Younan had a suitcase.

Chen Rui sat in the front passenger seat, rolled down the window, took a deep breath, then turned to look at Li Younan, saying, ”You know how to shoot videos, right?”

Li Younan nodded.

Chen Rui then asked, ”Will I be on TV?”

Li Younan asked back, ”Do you want to be on TV?”

Chen Rui blinked and shook her head, ”Forget it, but I can help you shoot videos.”

Li Younan smiled in response.

The two of them took a bullet train to Chengdu, planning to fly from there.

But before that, there was something else to do. After leaving the train station, Li Younan casually got a car to a nearby café to sit for a while.

Chen Rui asked curiously, ”What are we waiting for?”

Li Younan told her, ”Someone is delivering something to me; meanwhile, we can chat.”

Chen Rui nodded, ”Alright, what do you want to talk about?”

Li Younan casually said, ”Let’s talk about your university major.”

Chen Rui amusingly looked at Li Younan, ”You’re one of the few who actively lets me discuss my major.”

Chen Rui’s major is feared by most—Theoretical Physics.

The terms involved, even for someone who studied science in high school, sounded dizzying.

Things like relativity, condensed matter, various symmetries...

After studying for a while, different directions could be chosen.

But before this, she was somewhat confused.

She was sure she liked physics, but the ocean of physics was so vast, she, like a little fish, swam around without finding the current’s direction.

Perhaps her anxiety was planted because of this.

An idea closest to a tangible goal was to learn the theoretical knowledge well and strive to become an engineer in experimental physics.

But these conceptual things told to Li Younan, he probably wouldn’t care much.

Appearance-wise, Chen Rui also knew she didn’t have the typical look of a top student.

Because she was beautiful, a true beauty.

A beauty and a top student; while real-life examples existed, people seemed hard to accept this setting, like believing that if God opened a window for you, why would He open the door too?

So many strangers who approached her, enticed by her appearance, couldn’t continue after a short conversation... probably intimidated by her hardcore knowledge... haha.
