Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Li Younan nodded.

”Do you also feel like the pressure is too much?” Chen Rui tilted her head and asked a bit absent-mindedly.

Li Younan paused for a moment, blinked his eyes, then shook his head: ”Pressure? It’s not that bad.”

”Then why did you resign?”

”That’s not easy to explain in just one or two sentences.”

”It’s okay, I can listen slowly.”

Chen Rui realized she was interested in this topic and showed no signs of losing concentration. She hoped Li Younan would continue talking, but expressing such a feeling directly seemed inappropriate.

Li Younan thought for a bit: ”There was indeed pressure from work, but the real reason that made me decide to quit involved other aspects. But overall, it was because of impulsiveness.” After reflecting for a while, Li Younan came up with a more suitable word to describe his mental state at the time.

Chen Rui was a bit surprised: ”So you quit just because of impulsiveness?” After a moment, she nodded, ”But finding a new job should be quite easy for you.”

”It’s not something particularly worth talking about.” At this point, Chen Rui placed the last bowl into the sterilizer, thought for a moment, and asked, ”I heard from Auntie that you don’t have a job right now and are traveling everywhere?”

Li Younan chuckled, washed the dish towel clean, wet the cloth used for wiping the table, and began to carefully wipe the cabinets and stovetop, saying leisurely, ”You can’t say that, I’m still able to earn money by filming some videos now.”

Chen Rui pondered for a moment and suddenly asked, ”Did you plan from the beginning to make this your job?”

Li Younan paused and couldn’t help but laugh: ”No, wanting to resign was just wanting to resign, wanting to travel was just wanting to travel, there wasn’t anything planned.” Pausing for a moment, Li Younan earnestly said, ”Many things don’t have a direction or goal, but once you start, you’ll find direction and goals.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Rui looked momentarily confused and then carefully pondered over the sentence: ”Once you start, you’ll find direction and goals.”

After a while, she nodded silently.

At this point, Li Younan had pretty much cleaned everything that needed to be cleaned, and just needed to sweep the floor.

Chen Rui proactively picked up a broom to help Li Younan, and the two quickly tidied up the kitchen.

As they walked out, Chen Rui curiously said, ”Do you often do housework at home?”

Li Younan shrugged: ”It’s just my mom and me, of course, I need to share some of the load.” But then Li Younan laughed again, ”A few years ago, I wasn’t very good at cooking, my mom tried to keep me out of the kitchen.”

Hearing this, Chen Rui smiled a bit oddly.

...

The guests were still at home.

Because the house was allocated several years ago by the unit, while it had all necessary functions, it was indeed small, with only two rooms.

The two mothers chatted happily, and Li Younan listened intently.

For Li Younan, listening to these middle-aged women talk about all sorts of trivial gossip from the county was quite entertaining.

Since entering society, he saw more of human diversity.

Like a well-dressed, dignified junior leader at a conference by day, could be seen entering a widow’s house after work.

Or a seemingly honest young man suddenly daring to confront his unit’s top leader with insults, eventually resulting in even the leader, who liked to curse at whoever displeased him, backing down first.

Two women chatting, going back and forth about trivial, mundane matters, they chatted enthusiastically.

Although Li Younan wasn’t interested in the protagonists of these stories, he nevertheless gained a lot of enjoyment from listening to them.

In contrast, Chen Rui listened nearby, feeling sleepy.

She really wasn’t interested in these things and couldn’t pay attention.

Sitting there, Li Younan didn’t actively speak to her, leaving her somewhat bored, lost in thought about a conceptual project.

Suddenly, she perked up and said to Li Younan, ”Can I take a tour of your room?”

Li Younan looked at Chen Rui, blinked:” Oh, that’s... that’s okay...”

When the two went into the room, Chen Rui was surprised at how tidy it was.

She laughed: ”It doesn’t look like a boy’s room.”

Li Younan casually sat on the bed and pointed to the chair beside the desk, inviting Chen Rui to sit, saying: ”What should a boy’s room look like? Messy?”

Chen Rui paused, pondering for a moment, then shook her head: ”That’s not right either.”

Once seated, Chen Rui said: ”Outside, the two women chatter about topics that make my head spin, such a waste of time, time feels endless.”

Li Younan gently coughed and said with a smile: ”I think it’s alright, haha, Einstein’s theory of relativity doesn’t fool us; different people have different perceptions of the passage of time.”

Chen Rui chuckled softly: ”Relativity theory, is that really what it’s about?”

Li Younan shrugged indifferently and said: ”Regular folks find this understanding more intuitive.”

Chen Rui settled down, her focus once again sharpening: ”Well, string theory suggests time doesn’t exist.”

Li Younan found this amusing: ”Oh, I studied full-stack computer engineering in college, not too familiar with this area, but I know a bit... string theory should be the forefront of theoretical physics, right?”
