Chaotic Sword God

When he heard that, the Master of Profound Secrets was very surprised. He sighed. “I never thought that fellow Yang Yutian would have an encounter like that behind him. Don’t tell me the reason why you’re hiding your identity is because of enemies?”

“Partially.” Jian Chen demonstrated a moment of hesitation before finally making up his mind about something important. His eyes became resolute as he clasped his fist towards the Master of Profound Secrets. “Since we’re already talking about this, there’s no point in hiding it any longer. The truth is that my master is the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon.”

“What? The Heaven-defeating Sword Demon? Don’t tell me it’s the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon who perished five million years ago?” When he heard the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon’s name, the Master of Profound Secrets was startled, subconsciously crying out loud.

In the Immortals’ World, there were countless people who bore the name of Heaven-defeating Sword Demon, but there was only one who truly made a name for himself.

“That’s right, the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon who perished five million years ago. However, I only met a wisp of lingering will left behind by my master after he had died. After passing my master’s tests, my master brought me to a hidden dwelling that he had set up when he was still alive. In the hidden dwelling, my master had already arranged everything. I also received my master’s legacy there,” Jian Chen said with mixed feelings.

The Master of Profound Secrets was shocked. He murmured to himself, “The Heaven-defeating Sword Demon. The Heaven-defeating Sword Demon. I never thought that fellow Yang Yutian’s master would actually be the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon. Back in the day, the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon was a brutal, fearless demon that basically no one dared to provoke. He was extremely eccentric, bloodthirsty, and vengeful. In the past, after some disciples from a few major sects accidentally angered him, he annihilated the sects behind them. Many innocent people were involved.”

“Although the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon was only a Fifth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt, he grasped some extremely profound secret techniques, allowing him to face the Sixth Heavenly Layer. Moreover, he possessed an exceptional concealment technique, so even Ninth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalts were not able to find his tracks.”

“That served as the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon’s basis for roaming the Immortals’ World fearlessly. During that period, among the many peak organisations that stood at the apex of the Immortals’ World, all of them would feel pained when the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon was mentioned. Even the courts of heaven were very fearful of the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon, refusing to provoke him without good reason.”

“That was because an example that shook the Immortals’ World had happened before. A disciple of a court of heaven offended the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon. In the end, he was slain by the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon without any hesitation. As a result, the court of heaven began feuding with the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon. This continued until one of their Immortal Exalt ancestors was heavily injured by the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon, finally alarming the heavenly emperor. In the end, the heavenly emperor from that court of heaven personally hunted down the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon, yet he still managed to slip away.”

“The Heaven-defeating Sword Demon was extremely skilled in both fleeing and hiding. As he hid in the Immortals’ World, the heavenly emperor never managed to find the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon over all those years no matter how exceptional his techniques were…”

“The Heaven-defeating Sword Demon began to watch the court of heaven as well. He did not approach the court of heaven, just remaining in hiding and watching them. Whenever a disciple from that court of heaven left the organisation, they would become a target for the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon regardless of their cultivation.”

“Against experts he stood no chance, the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon would avoid them from afar. Once he encountered ones he could deal with, he would strike swiftly, killing them in a single strike…”

“In order to deal with the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon, the court of heaven tried many different ideas. They also made many arrangements and traps. The heavenly emperor participated numerous times as well, but the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon would either see through it or slip away. In the end, the court of heaven was forced into shutting its gates for ten thousand years. From then on, the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon’s reputation skyrocketed…”

Reaching there, the Master of Profound Secret’s face was filled with emotion. He sighed and said, “The Heaven-defeating Sword Demon was indeed a legendary figure. He was both fearsome and respectable. He was fearsome for his bloodthirsty nature and disregard for lives, annihilating entire organisations for no good reason. He could strike fear into the hearts of people with just his name. He was respectable for his abilities and techniques. He was just a Fifth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt, yet he could make heavenly emperors powerless against him. Throughout the Immortals’ World, just how many people could achieve that alone?”

“Let alone Fifth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalts, even some late Immortal Exalts will struggle to achieve what the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon did when faced with the pursuit of a heavenly emperor…”

Reaching there, the Master of Profound Secrets glanced at Jian Chen deeply. Jian Chen’s concealment ability was also exceptional. That bore great similarity to the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon.

“But so what if he could avoid heavenly emperors for the time being? Didn’t my master still die in the end?” There was a hint of sorrow in Jian Chen’s voice.

“The Heaven-defeating Sword Demon was far too arrogant. In that day and age, he should have never offended a super organisation with a Grand Exalt. As long as he didn’t provoke those Grand Exalt organisations, the courts of heaven would indeed be powerless against the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon,” the Master of Profound Secrets said in pity. Shortly afterwards, he looked at Jian Chen in interest and said, “Fellow Yang Yutian, do you know who your master died to?”

“Of course, I do. My master was killed by an Immortal Exalt ancestor of the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens. Under the pursuit of that Immortal Exalt from the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens, all of my master’s hiding techniques became useless.” When he mentioned the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens, chilling killing intent appeared in Jian Chen’s voice.

The Master of Profound Secrets smiled gently. “Back then, the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens had a Grand Exalt. As long as the Grand Exalt exerted some influence, your master would obviously have nowhere to hide. It could be said that the Heaven-defeating Sword Demon’s death is directly connected to that Grand Exalt.”

“However, times change. The Sword Sect of Violet Heavens was like the midday sun back then, influencing the entire Immortals’ World, yet it still ended up declining. It can’t even compare to some small sects. Do you want to avenge your master, fellow Yang Yutian?”

“I have never forgotten about avenging my master. Even though my master’s murderer already perished many years ago, his sect still stands after all. Although the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens on the Reverent Observance Heaven is being watched by many people, which makes it difficult to take action openly, there are still some disciples wandering the world outside. As a result, I’ve been secretly investigating these disciples of the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens lurking in hiding over the years.”

“When I inherited my master’s legacy, I swore an oath to annihilate every single disciple of the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens,” Jian Chen said coldly.

“Then have you made any progress, fellow Yang Yutian?” the Master of Profound Secrets asked.

Jian Chen immediately became cautious. He stared straight at the Master of Profound Secrets and said, “The Sword Sect of Violet Heavens may have declined, but the power lurking behind them is still formidable. If you know these secrets, you’re not going to try and use them against me, are you?”

The Master of Profound Secrets began laughing. “You are overthinking this, fellow Yang Yutian. Even if you forget the possibility that I might be feuding with the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens, just from how much the Illusionary Ancestor favours you, I would never harm you even if I were a hundred times bolder.”

A streak of light flashed through Jian Chen’s eyes. He asked in surprise, “You also have a grievance with the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens?”

The Master of Profound Secrets recalled a sorrowful matter of the past. He immediately became dispirited. “The truth is I accepted a disciple in the past. He possessed great talent and demonstrated tremendous potential with both the Way of Alchemy and the Way of Smithing. I had always viewed him as my successor, holding great expectations for him…”

“But in the end, my disciple was killed by a disciple of the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens…”

“As a result, I have always borne a very deep grudge towards the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens…”

The Master of Profound Secrets’ elderly eyes shone with bone-deep hatred.

“In other words, you and I are people of the same path. Looks like I’m not alone on the path of revenge. Master of Profound Secrets, are you willing to travel with me on this path of revenge?” Jian Chen asked. In the past, the disciples of the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens upheld justice with a strong sense of duty. They punished many crooked folk in the Immortals’ World. He knew that since the Master of Profound Secrets’ disciple had raised the attention of disciples of the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens, he must have committed some heinous crimes.

The sorrow did not vanish from the Master of Profound Secrets’ eyes. He continued, “I have always been working on avenging my disciple. The ancestral grounds of the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens on the Reverent Observance Heaven is a place where major organisations secretly face off against one another. It has connections to many. I don’t have the courage to rashly become involved with the matters there, but I have found quite a few disciples of the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens who are wandering the world.”

“Really? That’s fantastic. I was wondering if you could tell me about these people.” Jian Chen beamed with joy.

“Too late. They’ve already been buried with my disciple.” The Master of Profound Secrets sneered as his eyes shone coldly.

Killing intent immediately surged in the bottom of Jian Chen’s heart, but he concealed it perfectly. He sighed gently. “What a pity. I originally thought that I could join hands with you and embark on a path of revenge together. I never thought that you would have already rushed ahead.”

The Master of Profound Secrets looked at Jian Chen deeply and said, “Fellow Yang Yutian, out of respect for the Illusionary Ancestor, I’ll give you a warning. If you want to go after the disciples of the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens, you have to get to the bottom of their background. Right now, the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens can be viewed as two factions. One faction is the main branch on the Reverent Observance Heaven, while the other faction is the branch supported by the Waymight clan.”

“You must not touch even a hair of the branch supported by the Waymight clan. Your master’s death is a lesson that you should learn from. You must not follow the same path as your master.”

“Thank you for telling me this. I will never forget it.” Jian Chen continued to ask, “I know that you are well-informed and possess knowledge about many secrets that I do not know of. I was wondering if you could recommend to me a few other people who are on the same path?”

After a moment of thought, the Master of Profound Secrets said, “I do indeed know some fellows who have a grievance with the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens. I won’t mention the ones I’m not close with, but there are a few who absolutely hate the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens. They all possess organisations of a certain scale as well, so you can visit them. Perhaps they will possess the information that you are after.”
