Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis

[Bursting Turtle Potion]

[Type: Consumable]

[Effect: Grants +5 Constitution for the next attack you receive and slightly increases your maximum Blood Volume. Increases toxin buildup upon consumption.]

[Explanation: One of the burst-type Magic Potions made from a Demon Base Spirit Branch.]

”Damn, kid. You made over 200 Wax Oil just like that. You really know how to do business.”

Li Miao clicked his tongue in amazement.

”You could just make them yourself. I already published the recipe,” Mushroom said with a shrug.

He mostly made his own Magic Potions now. The illusory figure could make them, but it was slow and charged Wax Oil, so it was better to do it himself.

”Forget it.” Li Miao chuckled. ”Everyone has their specialty. I’d rather leave this kind of thing to you.”

With that, the two of them decided to go find Brother Yu.

But just then, Mushroom seemed to remember something and called out.

”Wait!”

He ran up to them and placed something in their hands.

”I forgot to tell you.”

”Magic Potions have strong effects, but they cause toxin buildup. Fish have weaker effects, but they don’t have that drawback. The only limitation is time.”

”So...”

”If you drink a Magic Potion and then eat a fish, you can maximize the benefits.”

Mushroom gave them a meaningful look.

Li Miao and Faraway exchanged a glance.

”So, what are you trying to say?” Li Miao asked, confused.

”Wanna buy some more fish?” Mushroom asked with a sly grin.

”...” Li Miao was speechless.

...

After bidding farewell to Mushroom, the Magic Potion profiteer, the duo quickly found Brother Yu in the Jinghai Islands. Brother Yu readily agreed to their proposal to take on the Golden Bull Guard.

His luck wasn’t great today anyway; he hadn’t caught any fish.

That being the case, he might as well go with them to the relics, defeat the Golden Bull Guard, and write a guide while he was at it.

”Holy crap, Brother Yu, you fish all day and still managed to get to Level 21? That’s only two levels lower than me and Faraway?”

On the Spirit Fire Ship, Li Miao learned Brother Yu’s level while they were chatting.

He and Faraway had actually been prepared for Brother Yu’s level to be low. After all, the guy spent all day on his ”improper” hobby of fishing, so it would have been strange if his level was high.

However, to their surprise, Brother Yu’s level hadn’t fallen behind at all!

That was honestly a bit too ridiculous.

In response, Brother Yu coughed, his gaze shifting away. ”Well, I often catch fish that aren’t in the codex yet. I use the Wax Oil from registering them to level up.”

”Brother Yu, people look to the left when they’re lying,” Li Miao said out of the blue.

Hearing this, Brother Yu quickly darted his eyes to the right.

”Looking to the right counts too,” Li Miao added.

Brother Yu had no choice but to look up at the sky at a 45-degree angle.

Then he heard Li Miao say leisurely, ”Actually, I was just making all that up...”

”...” Brother Yu was speechless.

”Alright.”

Faraway spoke up, interrupting their conversation.

”We’re here.”

After entering the Gray Mist, the three of them arrived at the Spirit Candle in front of the canyon.

Ahead of them was the same majestic golden figure, but this time, its information was more specific.

[Golden Bull Guard]

[Tier: Molten Slag]

[Level: 25]

[Warfire: Taurus Residue]

[Talent: Golden Body (Slightly increases own Blood Volume and Power. When Blood Volume is above 50%, grants a moderate damage reduction from Magic and Faith Damage.)]

[Skills: Golden Bull Trample, Rampage, Golden Bull’s Fury, Giant Hammer Earth-shaking Wave]

[Explanation: A Golden Bull Guard that watches over the Battlefield Relics. It is extremely powerful. Proceed with caution!]

This wasn’t their first time challenging the Golden Bull Guard, so they were quite familiar with its Talent and Skills.

The only extremely dangerous skill, which was also an area-of-effect attack, was ”Giant Hammer Earth-shaking Wave.” It was a total pain.

Although its range was huge, it wasn’t impossible to dodge in an open area.

But combined with this crappy canyon terrain, it was incredibly frustrating.

Especially back when their margin for error was much lower.

After checking their weapons, equipment, and Magic Potions again, Li Miao and Brother Yu looked toward Faraway.

”Let’s give it a try like this first.”

Faraway said.

Magic Potions and fish were still quite precious, so it was best to conserve them if possible. For now, their levels weren’t too far off from the Golden Bull Guard’s.

”Perfect. I’ve been practicing my Block recently. Let me see if it’s useful against this Golden Bull Guard.”

Li Miao was eager to try.

Then, the three of them stood up, transformed into Law Knights and an Iron-faced Warlock, and then all sat down in unison to recover their Physical Strength.

Soon, the three, now fully prepared, stood up again and approached the Golden Bull Guard.

Li Miao and Brother Yu held shields in one hand and swords in the other, ready for battle.

Faraway, meanwhile, took up his Rapid Short Bow.

Before the Golden Bull Guard was down to half its Blood Volume, Magic attacks dealt very limited damage to it; physical attacks were more effective.

HUUUFF...

A heavy snort escaped the bull’s nostrils.

The Golden Bull Guard’s gaze had long since locked onto the three figures before it. Upon confirming their intent to challenge it, it immediately swung its giant hammer and smashed it down in front of them.

SHHIIING! SHHIIING! SHHIIING!

Faraway’s arrows were already flying.

But beneath the giant hammer, Li Miao and Brother Yu stood motionless, their bodies tensed as they stared intently at the descending weapon.

They had simultaneously chosen the same response... Block!

CLANG—

The power of the Spirit Candle spread. The Golden Bull Guard’s giant hammer, which had been plummeting with a whistle, suddenly trembled, and a powerful shockwave traveled up its arms.

THUD, THUD!

The Golden Bull Guard’s massive body staggered back.

Li Miao glanced at Brother Yu, whose shield was also suffused with the Spirit Candle’s power, and was somewhat shocked.

’Isn’t this fisherman supposed to be fishing all day? How is his Block so damn smooth?’

’You’re making me, the guy who grinds mobs all day, look bad!’

Li Miao felt a pang of frustration but had no time to dwell on it. He seized the opportunity to rush to the Golden Bull Guard’s feet and unleash a flurry of attacks.

Bloody gashes appeared on the Golden Bull Guard’s legs, and arrows stuck out from its neck, dripping blood.

The trio’s first wave of attacks had already knocked off a third of the Golden Bull Guard’s Blood Volume. They were close to breaking its Golden Residue.

However, having sustained such heavy damage, the Golden Bull Guard was thoroughly enraged.

”MOO—”

The Golden Bull Guard’s eyes turned crimson as it let out a furious roar. The sound waves solidified, spreading out in all directions.

Fortunately, Brother Yu and Li Miao, who were already familiar with the Golden Bull Guard’s patterns, had already regrouped with Faraway. One raised his shield to the front-left and the other to the front-right, firmly blocking the incoming sound waves from the front and sides.

But even so, they still took some damage from the echoing sound waves because of the ridiculous canyon terrain.

After Golden Bull’s Fury ended, the three of them didn’t bother waiting to maximize the effect of their Recovery Wax Blocks; they each took one out and tossed it into their mouths.

At the same time, the Golden Bull Guard attacked again, giving them no chance to breathe!

RUMBLE!

Accompanied by a deafening bellow, the Golden Bull Guard crossed its arms in front of it, lowered its body, and charged toward the trio like a heavy-duty bulldozer!

CRASH!

A layer of rock was scraped off both sides of the canyon walls.

Moreover, the attack seemed to leave no room for dodging!

”Just block it.”

Faraway told them succinctly before moving to the side of the wall himself.

His Agility was high enough to support the move.

But Li Miao and Brother Yu, the two Knights, couldn’t do the same.

RUMBLE!

The Golden Bull Guard charged head-on.

Faraway timed it perfectly, used the wall to launch himself into a sudden leap, vaulted over the Golden Bull Guard’s shoulder, and landed with a roll.

Brother Yu and Li Miao, on the other hand, watched for the right moment and raised their shields to block.

Unfortunately, neither of them managed to trigger a perfect block this time. They had to brace for the impact and were sent flying by the Golden Bull Guard’s charge, landing on the ground with a THUD.

The moment Faraway landed, he began firing a continuous stream of arrows.

”MOO—”

The Golden Bull Guard completely ignored Faraway behind it, raising its giant hammer and bringing it down viciously on the two men on the ground!
