Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis

After giving his Attributes a quick boost, Luo Ge took out a Law Knight’s Magic Pearl. Dark gray power swirled in his hand, and a moment later, a controlled Law Knight appeared before him.

Of course, he could also use the powers of a Demon Summoner.

The only reason it appeared that way to the players was for their convenience. He didn’t need to cut a hole in his own chest.

He then summoned a shield-wielding Candle Spirit Body to test a new Candle Spirit Ability.

[Block: Use a shield or weapon to meet an incoming attack with full force. By perfectly timing the block against the attack, you will moderately reduce the damage taken and inflict a stagger effect on the enemy.]

Based on the Spirit Candle’s feedback, Luo Ge had a basic understanding of how the ability worked. However, he’d have to see it in a real battle to know its actual effect.

So, after giving the Law Knight a simple command, Luo Ge let the fight begin.

The Law Knight acted on instinct, opening with its usual King’s Battle Cry before charging toward the Candle Spirit Body.

Luo Ge tried to control the Candle Spirit Body to block.

But the outcome was less than ideal. Whether it was a delay in Luo Ge’s control or some other issue, the Candle Spirit Body was sent flying with a BANG, its Blood Volume plummeting.

Luo Ge frowned, closed his eyes, and possessed the Candle Spirit Body.

The Law Knight soon advanced, shield ready, and Luo Ge engaged it in close-quarters combat.

Before long, as the heat of battle flared, the Law Knight unleashed a mighty Gulard Heavy Strike, bringing it crashing down on Luo Ge.

Luo Ge waited calmly. Just as the Law Greatsword was about to connect, he suddenly raised his shield, a trace of Spirit Candle Power spreading through it.

DONG!

As the resounding clang of the block echoed, a Formless power spread out from the shield.

The arm the Law Knight used to wield its greatsword jolted violently, and its tall frame shuddered, staggering for a moment.

Luo Ge ended the duel and unsummoned both combatants.

He now had a basic understanding of Block’s function and effect.

Upon a successful block, the Law Knight’s Life Value had dropped, though not by much. That wasn’t the point. The key was the tremor that ran through its body; even if only for an instant, it was a prime opportunity to press the advantage.

The low-level Candle Spirit Body’s Life Value had also dropped slightly, which was the recoil damage from the impact.

Furthermore, the force of that impact had also been reduced.

This was what the Block explanation meant by ”moderately reduce the damage taken.”

While it couldn’t achieve a perfect, damage-free block, the effect was undoubtedly powerful. It could be a key technique for turning the tide in a fight.

However, mastering the timing would likely be quite difficult for the players.

It was undoubtedly a double-edged sword. For those without enough skill, trying to use Block would likely get them killed even faster.

”Not bad.”

Truth be told, he had always hoped the Spirit Candle would grant abilities like the ”Block” and ”Dodge” found in games.

After all, in reality, that would be a power on the level of a fundamental law. It wouldn’t matter if you were an Emperor or a god; get blocked, and you’d be staggered. Get dodged, and your attack would hit nothing but air.

If that were the case, a sufficiently skilled player could genuinely wear down a god and kill them with nothing but a pair of shorts and a broken wooden shield.

However, the ability the Spirit Candle granted the Candle Spirits clearly wasn’t that absurd.

’But you never know. Maybe there will be one in the future?’

It was something to look forward to.

Next was the [Teleportation] function. It allowed a Candle Spirit to travel back and forth between Milestone Spirit Candles, which was extremely convenient.

The amount of Wax Oil it consumed wasn’t high either—only two units.

For the Spirit Candle, it was really just a process of transmission and reconstruction.

However…

’Five units to start.’

Luo Ge hiked up the price without a second thought. Now that the players had a place to farm Wax Oil, their pockets were getting fuller.

’The cost in Wax Oil will increase with distance.’

’Perfect. It sounds completely reasonable, no one could find fault with it.’

Luo Ge gave a slight nod, finalizing how this function would work.

’And as for Block, which is supposed to be free… it’ll cost 10 units of Wax Oil to unlock.’

To be honest, Luo Ge had originally planned to charge 50.

But after some thought, he decided that might be a bit harsh on new players who were dirt-poor in the early game. He still wanted them to master this practical combat skill as soon as possible.

So… to play the long game and ensure the players could earn even more Wax Oil for him down the line, he would make a little sacrifice. He would just have to grit his teeth and accept the 40-unit loss!

Luo Ge had truly sacrificed so much for these dear players. He could only hope they would be grateful.

Next up were the new Spirit Candle Building and the Tier Two Sin Furnace.

After a moment of thought, Luo Ge decided to build the Demon-Harboring Cottage first. He’d hold off on the Tier Two Sin Furnace for now, as he was running low on Wax Oil.

After a moment’s consideration, Luo Ge went to a spot not far from the Reef Cave.

Seeing that Luo Ge was about to do something, Noxia quietly started heading into the cave to give him some space.

”It’s fine, you can stay here.”

Luo Ge called out, stopping her.

Noxia hesitated for a moment, but still nodded politely, then stood quietly to the side.

Spirit Candle Power spread as an azure Firelight flared. Wax Oil flowed and coalesced, and a seemingly unremarkable stone cottage appeared before Luo Ge’s eyes.
