Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis

[Formation Successful]

[Obtained: Tidal Fishman Pearl ×1]

[Tidal Fishman Pearl]

[Type: Special Items]

[Effect: After being used by a Demon Summoner, can summon the subordinate creature ”Beach Fishman”]

[Explanation: A special item dropped after killing a Beach Fishman. Its flesh and blood have been condensed into a pearl, to be controlled by a special method.]

”Let me see, let me see!”

”Let me have a look!”

Seeing that Pai Daxun had finally succeeded in forming a Magic Pearl, a group of ecstatic players swarmed around him.

Being a newbie, Pai Daxun obediently passed the Magic Pearl around for everyone to see. After all, so many players had helped him get this pearl in the first place.

The Tidal Fishman Pearl was perfectly smooth and round, with a murky, crystalline appearance. Faintly visible inside was the tiny body of a Beach Fishman.

”Whoa, a Pokeball, right?”

”Insane.”

”You know, this pearl is actually pretty nice-looking.”

The group of players clicked their tongues in wonder, passing it around and handling it so much that the already smooth Magic Pearl was soon polished even brighter.

”Alright, stop touching it, let him try it out.” Seeing that the last player had gotten a good look, Li Miao quickly took the pearl back and handed it to Pai Daxun. ”Here, try summoning with it.”

At this, the crowd grew expectant.

Pai Daxun nodded, and once he was ready, he placed the pearl directly into the opening in his chest.

In an instant, black and gray Power intertwined, wrapping tightly around the Tidal Fishman Pearl.

Once it was completely enveloped, Pai Daxun raised his hand as if by instinct. A dark power, accompanied by Ashes, flew out and soon coalesced into a ferocious-looking Beach Fishman.

”Beach Fishman, I choose you!” one of the jokers in the group called out with a cringey voice-over, making everyone burst out laughing.

Li Miao stepped forward curiously to inspect the Beach Fishman’s stats.

[Beach Fishman (Subordinate)]

[Tier: Residual Ash]

[Level: 1]

[Talent: None]

[Skill: Mucus Spray]

[Explanation: A mindless Beach Fishman that lives on the coast, now driven by the power of a Demon Summoner as a subordinate creature.]

The Beach Fishman’s appearance naturally drew another round of gawking. The players prodded and poked it all over, but under Pai Daxun’s control, the creature remained obediently still.

Li Miao, lost in thought, stepped forward and had Pai Daxun conduct a few more experiments, asking him how it felt.

Pai Daxun naturally did as he was told, and soon, the group had figured out more of the details through trial and error.

When a Demon Summoner summons a subordinate creature from a Magic Pearl, they consume some Spiritual Power or Faith Power. Furthermore, the subordinate creature’s continued existence constantly drains a small amount of the Demon Summoner’s power.

However, the drain wasn’t much. Even as a fresh Level 1, one could maintain the summon for half an hour, not to mention the existence of items like the Recovery Wax Block.

As for control, the Demon Summoner could issue simple commands through mental communication, which was quite convenient, and the Beach Fishman could execute them well.

However.

The Beach Fishman was incapable of executing complex commands.

For example, if you told it to do your taxes, it would just freeze on the spot. If you told it to draw a bow and shoot an arrow, it would also just stand there, stupefied.

Regarding this, however, most of the players present believed it was probably because the Beach Fishman itself wasn’t capable of much to begin with.

The only commands it could execute perfectly were things like Attack, Dodge, use a Skill, and so on...

Another point worth mentioning was the Level issue.

An Ordinary Beach Fishman was Level 3, but this subordinate was only Level 1. It barely did any damage when it lunged at Li Miao, making it much weaker than a normal Fishman.

However, after a group of helpful veteran players used the Wax Oil from the Beach Fishman they had just killed to level up Pai Daxun, they discovered that the summoned Beach Fishman also rose to Level 2.

But when Pai Daxun continued to Level 4, the Beach Fishman remained at Level 3.

It seemed the monster summoned from a Magic Pearl could only be raised to the strength it had before being condensed.

As for quantity, it went without saying that Pai Daxun could only summon one at the moment.

After they had a decent understanding of the situation, the players all started giving their assessments.

”Not bad.”

”Not just ’not bad,’ it’s straight-up Wudi, okay? If I get my level up, I could have a Law Knight on my left, a Black Stone Gatekeeper on my right, and I’d just stand back doing damage with a Magic Staff. I’d totally dominate!”

”Who knows? We can’t be sure what improvements will come with a higher Tier, and there might be other limitations for all we know.”

”The key problem is the low drop rate for the Magic Pearl. It took forever to get just one. If you don’t have help in the early stages, you’d suffer big time.”

”Who cares? Anyway, I think it’s stronger than the Frogman.”

”...”

After the players chattered among themselves for a while, one of them suddenly had a flash of insight, and his question pulled everyone’s attention.

”Hey guys, so the Demon Summoner has to put the pearl in their chest to use it, right?”

”So... what if you’re wearing armor? How do you put it in then?”

”...” ”...” ”...”

The discussion came to an abrupt halt. The players’ brains all involuntarily short-circuited for a moment, as if they were lagging.

Then, they all turned in unison to look at Pai Daxun, who was still only in his shorts.

”Uh... I don’t know either,” Pai Daxun said, also a bit puzzled.

”Try it,” Li Miao said, immediately pulling out a suit of Defensive Medium Armor and handing it to him.

After putting it on, Pai Daxun composed himself, then once again brought the Magic Pearl to his chest.

In an instant, his armor turned to wax.
