I Married the President

Chapter 596: Chapter 596: This Kind of Conscienceless Scammer Must Get the Death Penalty

”I’m so jealous of Claire Sinclair. She has a boyfriend like Young Master Quincy... Oh, wait. Did I just hear Claire Sinclair call him ’husband’?”

”Yeah, I heard it too. As soon as Claire Sinclair came in, she called him ’husband’...”

’If she’s calling him husband, does that mean they’re married?’

That night, Claire Sinclair stayed up all night writing her draft, compiling everything from her interviews.

The next day, Theo Rhodes also submitted his draft. The two of them reviewed and discussed each other’s work, then revised the piece together, merging their two articles into one.

Once they had the final draft, Claire Sinclair sent the article to Henry Hartwell.

After reading the article, Henry Hartwell was so furious that he cursed for a long time before remembering to approve Claire Sinclair’s submission.

With her superior’s approval, Claire Sinclair published the article, making sure to add ”Intern Reporter Theo Rhodes” to the byline under the headline.

Headline: Ancestral Secret Medicine Sourced from Dead Bodies; Miracle Health Clinic to be Permanently Shut Down!

Lede: Minor illnesses become major, major illnesses become terminal, and terminal illnesses can be cured? Uncovering a scam of the century.

The main body of the article began with the tip from a mysterious informant. It first cited several examples of victims who had been swindled, specifically mentioning Theo Rhodes’s sore throat being diagnosed as throat cancer. Then, through the reporter’s undercover investigation and real data provided by Quincy Manor, it ultimately exposed the Miracle Health Clinic’s scam to the public.

This was just the first half. The second half provided an in-depth analysis of the Miracle Health Clinic’s rise, linking it to a five-year-old murder case. It also exposed the crimes the clinic had committed over the past five years, including the buying and selling of infants and human organ trafficking.

The article totaled 10,004 words and took up two-thirds of the latest edition of the Astoria Daily.

As soon as the article was published, it caused a massive uproar online.

Within a single hour, hashtags like #MiracleHealthClinicScam, #MiracleHealthClinicShutDown, and #MiracleHealthClinicMedicineSource shot to the top of the trending lists.

The internet exploded.

[Death penalty! These soulless, despicable scammers must get the death penalty!]

[I just want to say, to all the people who catch a cold and believe someone who tells them it’s a terminal illness, is there something wrong with your brains?]

[Only idiots would get scammed.]

[Stop calling the victims idiots. Who isn’t afraid of dying? Besides, most of these people are older folks who don’t have much education.]

[Did everyone notice? The person who wrote this article is Claire Sinclair again, along with an intern.]

[Molly Sinclair is awesome! She wrote such a great article and didn’t take all the credit for herself. Now that’s what I call justice!]

[May justice and love prevail forever!]

...

Afterward, Claire Sinclair and Theo Rhodes split up to interview several victims and their families. Some family members, upon learning that the Miracle Health Clinic had been shut down, didn’t dare tell the elderly members of their family, fearing the shock would kill them.

Other families, however, were overjoyed. They had known it was a scam all along, but the elders in their families refused to believe them. Now that the truth was finally out, the elders finally believed it and would stop wasting their money on those disgusting medicines.

One elderly man, upon seeing Claire Sinclair, grabbed a broom and started trying to drive her away, yelling angrily, ”Doctor Holloway is not a con man! Get the hell out! Get out!”

Luckily, Claire Sinclair had bodyguards with her, so nothing happened.

The old man’s son quickly led Claire Sinclair outside and apologized profusely. ”Reporter Sinclair, I’m so sorry. My dad... he’s old, and he has a terminal illness. He thought the Miracle Health Clinic could cure him, so it gave him hope. But now that hope is gone, and he’s not taking it well. That’s why he was so impulsive. I’m really, truly sorry...”

Claire Sinclair sighed. ”It’s alright. You should go back and try to talk to your father.”
