I Married the President

Chapter 554: Chapter 554: So This Is the Imposter You Found for Me?

Afterward, Claire Sinclair gave Theo Rhodes a few instructions for tomorrow’s business trip, dropped him off at the subway station, and then had Landon Winston drive her to Quincy Manor.

’Teacher Hartwell sent me on an out-of-town business trip as soon as I came back to work. I wonder if the Great Demon King Quincy will agree. Even if he doesn’t, I have to go. I haven’t done any real work in three months. If I don’t find something to do, I’ll definitely get rusty.’

Once the car was parked, Claire Sinclair immediately walked into the building.

Just as she was approaching the Great Demon King Quincy’s office, the door suddenly opened, and Adrian Quincy walked out toward her.

Claire was about to call out to him when she saw his solemn expression, a deep sadness in his eyes. Her heart lurched, and she had a vague premonition.

Adrian Quincy walked up to her and took her hand. ”The hospital issued a critical condition notice. We need to go right now to see Grandpa one last time.”

”Okay,” Claire nodded. At a time like this, she didn’t want to say anything.

The two of them went to the hospital together. Walking down the long corridor, Claire saw many people in uniform. Most were middle-aged men who looked to be of high status—they must have been the men Grandpa White-beard had trained.

Upon seeing Adrian Quincy, they all simply nodded in acknowledgment, none of them speaking.

As the two of them reached the door to the hospital room, they heard someone inside speaking: ”Dad, you have to stand up for Yara!”

”Dad, Yara is innocent, Dad...”

It was Mrs. Quincy’s voice!

Claire’s heart seemed to skip a beat. She turned to look at the man’s handsome face. ”Your mother is begging Grandpa for mercy again.”

Adrian Quincy said reassuringly, ”Let’s go in first.”

Claire bit her lip and followed him inside.

Inside the room, besides the dying Old Master Quincy lying on the bed, were Mr. and Mrs. Quincy, as well as Yara Quincy, who was in a wheelchair.

The moment Claire came in, Mrs. Quincy’s face darkened, and Yara Quincy let out a loud sob. ”Grandpa, I’ll be fine! Please don’t get angry. The doctor said you need to rest. You can still live for a long, long time...”

Old Master Quincy’s breathing grew ragged. He glared at Claire. ”Adrian, is this the imposter you found for me? You’ll be the death of me! The death of me...”

Adrian Quincy’s cold eyes narrowed. With a deadpan expression, he said, ”Grandpa, I already explained this to you yesterday. Yara was imprisoned because she caused Claire’s miscarriage and hit someone with her car, causing a permanent disability. It was not at Claire’s direction, nor was it my doing.”

Old Master Quincy seemed not to hear him, sticking to his own belief. ”You let Yara go right now! Do you hear me? Let her go right now...”

Toward the end, his voice grew weaker and weaker.

Mrs. Quincy, as if hearing a glimmer of hope, said excitedly, ”Adrian, did you hear that? Your grandfather told you to let Yara go!”

”Shut up.” For the first time in his life, Adrian Quincy yelled at his own mother, his eyes blazing with irrepressible fury. ”Even now, you won’t even spare a dying old man. Say one more word of nonsense and get the hell out.”

Mrs. Quincy cried out, covering her face as she burst into tears. ”What kind of son did I raise? Husband, say something!”

Mr. Quincy looked troubled. ”Honey, this whole thing was Yara’s fault to begin with. Let’s just drop it. Don’t make things difficult for Adrian. It’ll upset Dad to hear this.”

The moment he finished speaking, Yara Quincy immediately shot back, ”Dad, that’s not what you were saying earlier!”

The family of four continued to argue, but Claire’s attention was fixed on the old man on the bed, his breathing growing ever fainter. She quietly walked over, sat by the bedside, and looked at the old man, whose eyes could barely stay open.

’Before, I wasn’t going to say anything. But now... I’ve changed my mind.’
