I Married the President

Chapter 578: Chapter 578: Drunken Truths

The words had barely left her lips when Theo Rhodes and Landon Winston popped out of nowhere. ”Master, I’m going too!”

Claire Sinclair glanced back. ’Didn’t those two go to the hot springs?’

The group made their way to the lounge.

Claire Sinclair was wary of drinking when she was out, and she certainly wouldn’t touch a drink from a stranger. She had someone bring her water cup and only drank plain water.

After all, Claire Sinclair was Adrian Quincy’s official girlfriend. Seeing her stick to water, no one dared to comment, let alone pressure her to drink alcohol.

For a moment, the atmosphere in the lounge grew a little awkward.

Claire Sinclair calmly sipped her water, not saying a word, as if she were the only person there.

Theo Rhodes sat down beside her with a glass of fruit wine, breaking the silence. ”Master, the juice here is pretty good. You’re not having any?”

Claire Sinclair shot him a look and reminded him, ”Easy on the alcohol.”

”It’s juice, not wine,” Theo Rhodes insisted.

”Just know your limits. Don’t cause any trouble for me.”

”Got it,” Theo replied, deliberately feigning impatience.

On the other side of the room, Joan Jacobs was on her phone, sending a WeChat message to Cyrus Marshall.

Joan Jacobs: Brother Carl, Claire Sinclair isn’t drinking. What should I do?

CyrusIsDone: Get her assistant drunk instead.

President Jacobs: Will that work?

Ever since their affair was exposed online by a mysterious hacker, Cyrus Marshall had immediately changed her contact name to ”President Jacobs.” Luckily, no one online had managed to figure out she was his mistress, so she had escaped unscathed, leaving Cyrus to take all the heat.

The two secretly continued their illicit affair. In fact, their relationship was better than before, and they collaborated more frequently—just like right now.

CyrusIsDone: I’ve thought about it. Getting Claire Sinclair drunk is unrealistic. Just look at the bodyguards she brought. We have to go after her assistant.

President Jacobs: Understood.

Joan Jacobs put down her phone and looked up at Theo Rhodes, a wide smile on her face. ”Assistant Rhodes, how about I join you for a few drinks? We came here to have fun, after all. It would be a shame to go home disappointed.”

”Sure. I was just looking for a drinking buddy,” Theo Rhodes readily accepted Joan Jacobs’s invitation.

A barely perceptible, cunning smile touched Joan Jacobs’s lips. ’Just as I thought, a total rookie. He took the bait so easily.’

She glanced over at Claire Sinclair. Seeing that Claire had no intention of stopping him, Joan Jacobs’s smile grew even more smug.

She was completely unaware that Claire Sinclair already had everything under control.

...

Claire Sinclair suddenly received a phone call and left the lounge.

When she hadn’t returned after more than an hour, Joan Jacobs sent someone to check on her. Upon learning that Claire had gone back to her room to sleep, Joan decided it was time to make her move.

Before long, Theo Rhodes was ”drunk.” Joan Jacobs and a few of her friends took him to a freshly booked hotel room.

Joan Jacobs tossed Theo Rhodes onto the bed, then climbed up beside him and nudged his shoulder.

”Assistant Rhodes? Assistant Rhodes?”

”Ugh... drink... I can still drink...”

Theo Rhodes’s voice was sluggish, and his body felt completely drained of strength, as limp as a wet noodle.

A cunning smile played on Joan Jacobs’s lips as she leaned in close to his ear and whispered, ”Assistant Rhodes, when are you and your master planning to head back?”

”Master... I don’t want to go back so soon. That master of mine... she’s such a killjoy, always nagging about going home. I’m so sick of her!”

Hearing Theo Rhodes’s ”drunken confession,” Joan Jacobs froze for a second before her smile grew even more brilliant.

’A rookie is a rookie, after all. Looks like tonight’s mission is going to be a success.’

Joan Jacobs pressed, ”You don’t like your master?”
