Ghost Catching System

Going to the Underworld to settle accounts is even more painful than death itself.

”The Demon King is here, run for it!”

The surrounding ghosts, terrified out of their wits, turned tail and fled. This caused all the stray cats and dogs in the city to bark wildly, creating a scene of utter chaos.

Chu Hao went everywhere capturing ghosts. He even suspected that this group of ghosts must have all been born as scouts because, after a long time, he only managed to catch three or four, and they were merely Sha Ghost Level at that.

Pretentious Expert: Chu Hao

Level: 4

Experience Points: 900,000/4,000,000

Pretentiousness Points: 5,600

Mana Points: 6,000

Career Ability: Pretentious Dice

Ghost Servants: Diao Chan, Sadako, Chu Beauty, Jiayeci, Ghost Dragon (Qiu)

Chu Hao ran east and west until he was exhausted, and all the ghosts had scattered.

”How come they’re so easily scared?”

Chu Hao felt somewhat helpless. He thought he had been too high-profile and scared away all the ghosts; he wished he had kept a lower profile.

”Let’s change location.”

So, he left the old city district. The ghosts dispersed in all directions, thoroughly spooked, and ended up dubbing Chu Hao the ”Demon King.”

However, some powerful evil spirits and demons didn’t believe the rumors. Instead, they sought out Chu Hao to deal with him and obtain the True Word Brush.

A man and a woman found Chu Hao.

The man had a hybrid human-rat appearance, with blood-red pupils and a pair of pitch-black, leathery wings, much like a vampire.

The other, a woman, had web-like pupils and a pair of transparent wings, resembling an elf. She was also dressed quite provocatively.

These were the legendary, fully materialized demons!

”Chu Hao, hand over the True Word Brush,” the male Bat Demon said in a piercing voice.

Chu Hao had been struggling to find ghosts, and now two demons appeared. After a night of catching ghosts, he was starving. He even had a snake with him, planning to take them all back and make them into side dishes.

He asked, ”What are your true forms?”

The man said, ”I am Batman.”

The woman said, ”I am Dragonfly Woman.”

”We are the dual-hero duo.”

Chu Hao said, ”...”

He clenched his fists tightly, almost unable to restrain himself from beating them up. These two demons must have watched too many movies, even calling themselves Batman and Dragonfly Woman.

Chu Hao reconsidered. This time, he needed to be subtle. All the ghosts had run away before. If he continued like this, no big fish would take the bait. He had to feign fear to attract other entities.

Chu Hao spoke sheepishly, ”I... I think, can’t we just talk this over nicely, be amicable about it?”

Seeing Chu Hao so worried, the two demons burst into laughter.

They had heard that Chu Hao was extremely fearsome, capturing ghosts everywhere. But they were demons, and his apparent fear suggested that while he might handle ghosts well, he stood no chance against demons.

After all, there’s a difference between a ghost-catcher and a demon-catcher.

Batman bared his ferocious fangs and sneered coldly, ”What’s there to talk about! In front of me, Batman, you are trash, unworthy to negotiate terms.”

Dragonfly Woman fluttered her wings, hovering in mid-air. ”Just hand over the True Word Brush quickly,” she said, ”or else... you will die a very ugly death.”

Chu Hao barely restrained himself from striking. He tried his best to look helpless, saying, ”Sirs, we don’t have any grievances between us, do we?”

Batman said pretentiously, ”This world is simply survival of the fittest. For an ant like you to fall into our hands is already your good fortune. Rest assured! I will make your death very pleasant.”

His fangs had a paralyzing effect.

Dragonfly Woman floated in mid-air and sneered, ”How can the glow of a firefly dare to compete with the bright moon? No matter what you say, it’s useless.”

Chu Hao clenched his fists tightly. In the eyes of the two demons, they thought he was merely unwilling to accept his fate.

Damn! I can’t hold it in anymore! I was thinking of using them to lure in bigger fish, but these two clowns are too damn pretentious. Did they really think I, the King of Show-offs, would tolerate them?

In this pretentious society, I, Brother Hao, am a man of fierce actions and few words. There’s only one thing to do: fight!

Chu Hao waved his hand, his earlier meekness vanishing, replaced by an imposing aura. He said coolly, ”You spurn the respect I offered. You’re the first to dare show off before me, King Chubi, and you will absolutely be the last.”

The two demons were stunned. Batman, especially, said angrily, ”Human, I will make you understand what fear truly means!”

King Chubi sneered, ”A bat isn’t tasty, and a dragonfly has no meat. I must say, I’m quite disappointed.”

The two demons were furious. What was wrong with this kid? Just a moment ago he was all submissive, and now he’s suddenly so aggressive.

Batman couldn’t control itself anymore. It transformed into a bat one meter long and charged toward Chu Hao.

A one-meter-long bat was indeed quite terrifying; an ordinary person would be scared to death upon seeing it.

Chu Hao took out the Night Demon Umbrella and, as if hitting a baseball, swatted Batman away.

Next was Dragonfly Woman. She had a demonically charming appearance. However, when she attacked, she had a single eye, a pair of antennae, and her body was covered in scales—something unbearable for anyone with trypophobia.

Dragonfly Woman fluttered her wings, her vision extremely acute. She rushed in with a leg kick, and Chu Hao clenched his fist, throwing a fierce punch.

Dragonfly Woman reacted very swiftly—it seemed to be an innate dragonfly instinct. She sidestepped, then wrapped herself around Chu Hao’s arm, enveloping him.

She opened her mouth, revealing a horrifying set of bramble-like teeth, utterly disgusting. Her two large fangs, like pincers, snipped towards Chu Hao’s head.

If those pincers connected, wouldn’t that send him straight to meet Yama?

The tip of the Night Demon Umbrella aimed for her mouth.

SHINK! Dragonfly Woman’s entire head was pierced through by the umbrella’s tip.

”Ding… You have killed Dragonfly Woman and gained 400,000 Experience Points.”

The Experience Points were slightly more than those from an average Dark Killing Ghost.

Looking at Dragonfly Woman again, she had reverted to the form of a dragonfly, much larger than a normal one—about the size of an arm.

Chu Hao threw it on the ground and scoffed, ”A mere insect. I didn’t even use one ten-thousandth of my power as a Heavenly Master. Truly uninteresting.”

”Ding… Host has successfully shown off, gaining 400 Pretentiousness Points.”

Batman was dumbfounded. He had been about to rush forward, but seeing Dragonfly Woman’s tragic death, a chill ran down his spine, and he tried to flee.

It thought that with its speed, Chu Hao definitely wouldn’t be able to catch up unless he could also fly.

Chu Hao shouted, ”Trying to leave! Did this Heavenly Master say you could go?”

Chu Hao held the True Word Brush, wrote the character for ’seal,’ and intoned, ”The Forbidden Gods of the Four Directions, follow my command! Seal the heavens, seal the earth! Emergency Wish-Granting Command!”

A sealing禁制封印封住了蝙蝠要逃走的地方,这家伙虽然快,可远远没有八岐鬼螂快.

It let out a cry of terror, continuously crashing against the seal. The Inscription emanating from the seal repeatedly knocked it back.

Batman was terrified out of its wits. It spoke in human language, ”Heavenly Master, I won’t dare again! Please, let me go!”

Chu Hao snorted, ”I gave you a chance, but you insisted on forcing my hand. Although I’m not fond of bat meat, if I let you go, where would this Heavenly Master put his face?”

Batman screamed, attempting a final, desperate struggle. Its ultrasonic call attracted countless bats. In a short moment, more than a thousand swarmed densely toward Chu Hao.

Chu Hao wielded the True Word Brush, wrote the character for ’troop’ with bold and forceful strokes, and shouted, ”Imperial Troops Command! The soldiers of the world shall be for my use! Emergency Wish-Granting Command!”

The True Word Brush was a Taoist Treasure; the more Mana Points consumed, the more terrifying its power became.
