Ghost Catching System

A bunch of trash, not even an evil fiend worth 100,000 Experience Points, and they think they can trouble this Taoist Master.

Brother Hungry Ghost had been scared out of his wits. His previous viciousness was gone as he PLOPPED down to his knees, ceaselessly kowtowing, and said, ”Taoist Master, please spare my life! Taoist Master, please spare me!”

Chu Hao was not the least bit polite. Taking out his Ghost-whipping Whip, he lashed out. Brother Hungry Ghost screamed in agony; the pain of a soul being whipped was intense.

Chu Hao said coldly, ”Who sent you? You dare to steal this Taoist Master’s things!”

Brother Hungry Ghost trembled and said, ”It... it was the Ghost King who told us to come.”

Chu Hao asked, ”Which Ghost King?”

”The Ghost King of Ghost King Valley.”

Brother Hao remembered this grudge. What kind of Ghost King was this? Just wait until Brother Hao finds you, I’ll make sure you become a stir-fried Ghost King!

Chu Hao asked again, ”What about the other ghosts? Where are those demons?”

Brother Hungry Ghost said, ”They are... they are nearby.”

”How did you know I was in this direction?”

”It... it was the Ghost Slave who figured it out. He’s an expert in divination and a loyal servant of the Ghost King.”

This Ghost King really knew how to play, even enslaving the living. Such arrogance, even as a ghost.

However, for evil ghosts that linger in the Human World to do evil, all their deeds will be noted down by Yama. Unless their souls are completely obliterated, they will face a settling of scores once they enter the Yin Cao Netherworld.

Chu Hao looked at the starving ghost, sensing the aura of a murderous soul on it, and asked coldly, ”How many people have you killed?”

Brother Hungry Ghost’s body shook uncontrollably.

Chu Hao stroked his chin. Letting these evil ghosts be obliterated is too lenient. They should be sent to the Underworld to suffer the torments of the Eighteen Layers of Hell.

Chu Hao said, ”System, wouldn’t that be letting these wicked ghosts off too easily? Since there’s a Merit Gate, is there an Underworld Gate?”

The System responded, ”Mm-hmm... The Host finally has a bit of a Pretentious Taoist Master’s style, discovering a hidden BUG.”

Chu Hao said delightedly, ”Since I’ve found a BUG, isn’t there any reward?”

”DING... Congratulations to the Host for discovering a system BUG. You have obtained the Hell Bible.”

Item: Hell Bible

Rarity: ★★★★★

Ability: Open the Hell Gate and send wicked ghosts to the Underworld to settle their debts. (The Host can choose which layer of Hell the evil ghost goes to.)

This item is great, similar to the Underworld Merit Gate. Good ghosts receive good rewards, and evil ghosts also receive their punishments. Otherwise, there would be no need for the Eighteen Layers of Hell.

System prompt: Sending evil ghosts to the Underworld will yield a good amount of Experience Points.

Chu Hao chuckled. So, does this make me a Judge of the Yang Realm, huh?

Looking at that starving ghost, he said coldly, ”You’ve done so much evil, letting your soul be obliterated would be too light. Therefore, this Taoist Master has decided to send you to the Underworld for settlement.”

The moment the starving ghost heard it was to be sent to the Underworld for settlement, it instantly wilted, terror-stricken to the extreme, wailing pitifully, ”I don’t want to go! I don’t want to go!”

Going to the Underworld to settle accounts would be worse than having its soul obliterated.

It is said that the Underworld punishes murderous evil ghosts quite harshly. Any layer of the Eighteen Layers of Hell would subject them to endless torment, a pain a million times worse than obliteration.

That’s the Eighteen Layers of Hell, the legendary place that tortures the most wicked of souls.

A ghost like it, after harboring resentment, focuses on harming others, perhaps even thinking it could live well that way.

If sent to the Underworld, it would be a fate worse than death.

Chu Hao glared fiercely, whipping out with the Ghost-whipping Whip, and barked, ”Are you going or not?”

The starving ghost convulsed nonstop; the power of the Ghost-whipping Whip was formidable. He figured just a couple more lashes would make the Hungry Ghost yield.

Then came the wails of the starving ghost, howling miserably, ”I... I won’t go! I won’t go!”

Another lash came down, but the stubborn ghost still wouldn’t go. Its ghostly resolve was unyielding.

Chu Hao reckoned a few more lashes were needed, but it still refused to go. Truly, it would rather be beaten to death than go.

”Damn! Is the Underworld that terrifying? Just go and accept your review. Perhaps you might even be reborn as a human,” Chu Hao said, speechless.

The starving ghost rolled its eyes. That was the Eighteen Layers of Hell, after all. Any powerful ghost that went there would be tormented for all eternity.

”You... you might as well let my soul be scattered to the winds.” The starving ghost would rather die than go; it had already lost all hope.

He hadn’t expected the Eighteen Layers of Hell to have such a deterrent effect on evil ghosts. His face turned cold.

Such ghosts should indeed be sent to the Underworld to be properly punished.

Chu Hao formed a hand seal and shouted, ”Reckon the sins! Gates of Hell, open for me! Emperor of the Underworld, Emergency Wish-Granting Command!”

A black gate appeared. Different from the Merit Gate, the Hell Gate exuded a sinister and terrifying chill. Living people might not feel it, but evil ghosts were different; they were almost scared out of their wits.

”You have no choice. Get lost!”

Chu Hao picked up the starving ghost and kicked it into the gate.

”DING... Delivering starving ghost to Hell for reckoning, Host gains 130,000 Experience Points.”

”DING... Host obtains Hunger Spell Charm, added to the inventory.”

Item: Hunger Spell Charm

Rarity: ★

Ability: Curse Talisman. Humans, ghosts, or demons subjected to the curse will feel intense hunger. (Can cause death from hunger, use with caution.)

Lucky me! The Hunger Spell Charm is worth 800 Pretentiousness Points in the System shop. Charms with rarity are indeed different.

Also, sending evil ghosts for reckoning in the Underworld earns an extra 30,000 Experience Points. Chu Hao was quite pleased.

Moreover, Chu Hao felt he was becoming more and more badass, practically a super Ghost Officiant of the Yang Realm.

This Hell Gate of mine is starving for more!

Chu Hao’s eyes gleamed with a green light as he continued his search for targets in the night.

He encountered another Dark Killing Ghost and, catching it by surprise, rushed out and gave it a brutal beating. This unlucky fellow had probably never been beaten like this, neither in life nor in undeath.

One side of the Dark Killing Ghost’s head was caved in. Had it been a living person, it would have been long dead, but for a ghost, this was ten times more painful than death.

The Dark Killing Ghost let out a sharp scream, drawing the attention of many nearby ghosts, who roamed the old city district in search of Chu Hao.

Chu Hao didn’t hold back at all, lashing the Dark Killing Ghost mercilessly with his Ghost-whipping Whip. It was in intense agony and terrified of Chu Hao to the extreme.

After a while, the Dark Killing Ghost was unable to fight back anymore, its body as limp as soft mud.

Chu Hao said coldly, ”Heaven cherishes life. As a Taoist Master, I cannot bear to let your soul be scattered to the winds. Now, I grant you a blessing: go to Hell for reckoning.”

”DING... Host’s Scary Show Off successful, receiving 400 Pretentiousness Points.”

The Dark Killing Ghost: ”...”

”No, please! Taoist Master, spare my life! Taoist Master, spare my life!”

Its expression was just as horror-stricken as the starving ghost’s. It would say anything not to go to the Underworld for reckoning, preferring its soul be scattered to the winds.

Often, it’s the utterly wicked ghosts that are so frightened.

The ghosts who had just arrived nearby also froze in fear upon hearing this.

They arrived just in time to see Chu Hao holding the Dark Killing Ghost and kicking it into the Hell Gate.

”DING... Delivering Dark Killing Ghost to Hell for reckoning, Host awarded 400,000 Experience Points.”

Then, his eyes glowing with an excited green light, he stared at the group of ghosts that had just arrived.

”Run!” one of them shrieked.

This group of utterly wicked ghosts, terrified out of their wits, turned and fled for their lives.

Is this the living person they were looking for?

Damn it, he’s terrifying!

This guy is scaring ghosts to death!

”Come on, come on! This Taoist Master will grant you all a blessing!” Chu Hao chased after them, yelling about the blessing he was offering.

A blessing, my ass!!

All the ghosts cursed inwardly.
