Ghost Catching System

Chu Hao immediately saw Luo Yan in the kitchen, wearing an apron and cooking.

She was tall, with slightly curled long hair draped over her shoulders, exuding an air of virtuousness.

Chu Hao couldn’t help but feel drawn to her. As Fang Linxuan poured a cup of tea, she saw his expression and couldn’t help but laugh. ”Ah-Hao, your drool is about to hit the floor.”

Chu Hao’s face burned with embarrassment. He quickly wiped his drool. Her mother was right there, yet he was staring at her daughter! If it had been anyone else, they would have already smacked him away with a slipper.

After taking a sip of tea, Chu Hao asked, ”Auntie Fang, are you planning to live with Luo Yan?”

Fang Linxuan nodded. ”I’ve already left the Luo Family. I’m planning to find a job. I was thinking Luo Yan could support me, but she can barely even support herself.”

Luo Yan can’t support herself? So I’m supposed to support both of you? DAMN!! Being a sugar daddy to a mother-daughter pair... sounds so thrilling!

Chu Hao knew that when Fang Linxuan had left the Luo Family, she hadn’t taken a single penny. She departed empty-handed, completely severing any emotional ties.

Fang Linxuan rested her chin in her hand, her enchanting eyes fixed on Chu Hao. She didn’t look forty-six at all, more like she was around thirty.

Fang Linxuan said, ”I heard from Luo Yan that you’ve started a company. How about letting Auntie come and help out?”

Chu Hao waved his hand. ”It’s just a small company. If Auntie Fang were to join, it would be a waste of your talents.”

Fang Linxuan is a strong businesswoman. Even if she left with nothing, she wouldn’t find it hard to make money again, would she? Auntie, you must be teasing me.

”Besides, I’m free anyway, and Luo Yan’s company is right next door to yours. I can see Luo Yan every day, and Ah-Hao too.”

Chu Hao considered it. It sounded quite nice, but he still said, ”That doesn’t seem appropriate!”

Luo Yan’s mother stared at Chu Hao, her eyes twinkling like distant, dreamy stars. ”What’s not appropriate about it? If Auntie goes there, I can take care of you.”

Take care of me? Chu Hao was a bit puzzled.

Luo Yan’s mother smiled. ”You’re my future son-in-law, after all. Auntie must take good care of you, so any future babies will be born healthy.”

Chu Hao: ”...”

Auntie Fang, you’re making this really awkward for me. Why does it feel that if Luo Yan and I were to fall in love, it wouldn’t be about love at all, but more like I’m just becoming a breeding stallion?

Chu Hao was feeling extremely awkward when Luo Yan came in, carrying a dish. ”What are you two talking about?”

Fang Linxuan smiled. ”Nothing much. We can finally eat!”

The meal was incredibly awkward for Chu Hao. His future ”mother-in-law” kept piling food onto his plate, urging him to eat up and build up his strength, serving him crab roe, fish eggs, and all sorts of supposedly nourishing dishes.

Chu Hao broke out in a cold sweat.

After dinner, Fang Linxuan still wanted Chu Hao to stay.

Luo Yan said, ”Mom, Ah-Hao has already been out with me for three or four days. He still has school tomorrow.”

Fang Linxuan replied, ”Alright then. Luo Yan, see Ah-Hao out.”

It’s no problem, I can sleep on the sofa, Chu Hao was about to say. Being shameless always pays off; I’ve learned that lesson well.

Just then, his phone rang. He picked it up and saw it was a call from his goddess-like older sister figure, Mu Yufei.

Mu Yufei sounded very anxious. ”Ah-Hao, where are you?”

Chu Hao replied, ”Sister Yu Fei, what’s the matter?”

”Something’s happened on my end. Can you come over? The address is...”

Chu Hao said, ”Sister Luo Yan, Auntie Fang, a friend of mine is in trouble. I need to go check on them.”

Luo Yan asked, ”Do you need me to walk you out?”

Chu Hao shook his head. He knew Luo Yan was exhausted and had been hit hard by recent events; she needed rest.

”No need. You should spend some quality time with Auntie,” he said.

Luo Yan nodded. ”Ah-Hao, thank you.”

Chu Hao chuckled. ”It was nothing.” He then left the residential complex.

After Chu Hao had gone, Fang Linxuan rested her chin in her hand and looked at her daughter with a smile. ”Luo Yan, when are you and Ah-Hao going to give me a little grandbaby?”

Luo Yan rolled her eyes. ”Mom, you’re overthinking things. There’s nothing going on between Chu Hao and me. Besides, he’s still just a high school student.”

Fang Linxuan clicked her tongue teasingly. ”Tsk, tsk... so what if he’s a high school student? In a few years, he’ll need to marry and start a career. You’ve inherited my ageless genes; even at thirty, you’ll still be prettier and look younger than other women. How could he possibly resist you?”

Luo Yan was speechless. ”Mom! You’re always thinking about such ridiculous things.”

Fang Linxuan retorted, unconvinced, ”What ridiculous things? If you don’t make a move, then I will! Where else would you find such a fine young man? This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance; miss it, and it’s gone forever!”

Luo Yan was dumbfounded. ”Make a move on what?”

Fang Linxuan grinned mischievously. ”Make a move on him, of course! Once we’ve cooked the raw rice, so to speak, and the deed is done, wouldn’t I be securing his position for you?”

Luo Yan was utterly defeated. Covering her face, she lamented, ”Mom, why are you so crude? Have you been single for too long or something?”

Chu Hao took a taxi to the address Mu Yufei had given him. It was an office skyscraper, and he headed to the seventy-sixth floor.

However, as he was about to enter the elevator, he encountered a young man in a Taoist robe who was also going to the seventy-sixth floor.

Chu Hao glanced at the young Taoist. He had refined features and exuded a piercing aura.

On the seventy-sixth floor, Mu Yufei had been waiting for some time. She was at work, dressed in a black business suit that showcased her mature charm.

”Ah-Hao, you’re here,” Mu Yufei said, appearing somewhat anxious.

Before Chu Hao could speak, the young Taoist beside him interjected, ”Benefactor, the space between your eyebrows is dark; this is an omen of impending calamity. However, rest assured. With me here, I can ensure you turn misfortune into fortune.”

Who is this guy? Did Mu Yufei bring him? Chu Hao was taken aback.

Indeed, the space between Mu Yufei’s eyebrows was dark, signifying real trouble. If not resolved in time, it could even cost her her life.

”And you are...?” Mu Yufei initially thought the young Taoist was a friend of Chu Hao.

”I am Ze Ming, a Taoist from Mao Mountain, sent by my master to help you avert disaster,” Ze Ming explained.

”Who is your master?” Mu Yufei inquired.

The Zeming Taoist smiled. ”Ten years ago in Anli Village, a beggarly old Taoist was passing through, and you offered him a charitable meal.”

Mu Yufei remembered. ”That was your master?” she asked in surprise.

Ten years ago, when Mu Yufei was younger, she had returned to her hometown for the New Year. Indeed, she had encountered an old Taoist. Feeling sorry for him, she had given him food.

”Yes.”

So Mu Yufei’s kindness back then has saved her life this time. Chu Hao realized.

Ze Ming added, ”However, I do have one request.”

Mu Yufei raised an eyebrow.

Ze Ming continued with a smile, ”It’s nothing serious. This is my first visit to Anli City, and I’m unfamiliar with the area. I hope, Benefactor, that you can help me find someone. His name is Chu Hao.”

Brother Hao is right here next to you, yet you don’t recognize me?

Mu Yufei was a bit bewildered. Noticing Chu Hao’s equally puzzled expression, she asked, ”Why are you looking for this person?”

Ze Ming had nothing to hide. ”To retrieve a great treasure belonging to my Taoist sect.”

So that’s it! This guy was also lured here by the text message. Chu Hao instantly understood.
