Ghost Catching System

The Eight-Headed Ghost Mantis fed primarily on Yang Qi, meaning it enjoyed consuming the life force of humans and also preyed on ghosts. Once it was well-nourished, it could definitely bring its keeper wealth.

This was because once a soul was consumed by it, that soul became its servant, capable of helping the Luo family amass immense wealth under its command.

This was the true secret behind the Luo family’s century of wealth and power.

Raising a rat spirit was one thing, but what truly brought good fortune was this Eight-Headed Ghost Mantis.

This creature must be formidable, Chu Hao thought. He looked around and decided to set up a Demon-sealing Array Method.

After all, having just acquired the formation, how could I not put it into practice?

This Demon-sealing Array Method was quite particular; it was a type of magnetic energy formation. Chu Hao took out his brush, cinnabar, and yellow talismans to start arranging the formation around the area.

For his first time laying out a formation, he was not sloppy at all, working at an extremely fast pace. After all, the young man was brimming with energy—he’d once single-handedly worn out three women, if you catch my drift. Did I say that out loud?

Soon, he laid down a powerful demon-sealing formation around the site: the Mini Vajra Demon-sealing Array.

While Chu Hao was setting up the formation, the other onlookers, who didn’t understand the situation, all walked over to the edge of the pool to look.

They saw a large hole opening up at the bottom of the pool, from which a fist-sized eye emitted a bright, chilling light.

Old Master Luo was in despair. He couldn’t understand what was going on; usually, everything went smoothly. He recalled what Chu Hao had said yesterday: today would be the Luo family’s day of doom.

BOOM. The ground collapsed, and a monster crawled out from underneath the pool.

Its body was wrapped in countless tendrils of dark qi—those were the Wandering Wild Ghosts it had devoured and turned into Ghost Servants.

”What... what is that?”

Everyone was stunned. How had such a creature suddenly appeared?

Those eyes were terrifying.

BANG!

The creature inside broke out of the formation at an incredible speed. Its sharp claws hooked into the sleazy Taoist’s body, and it shot skyward.

See? Once this ghostly thing came out, the sleazy Taoist who was most in tune with his heart—how could he not die?

People looked up, and with the help of the dim moonlight, they could see a giant ”mantis” with a three-meter body, flapping its wings and wrapped in dark qi.

”Ahh! Save me, save me!”

The sleazy old Taoist’s intestines were hooked out by the mantis’s sharp claw. Although he wasn’t dead, he screamed miserably as his blood rained down from above.

HISS! The Eight-Headed Ghost Mantis let out a shriek that pierced the heavens.

With its cry, ripples vibrated throughout the surroundings, and the dark clouds instantly dispersed, exposing its enormous body.

”Heavens!! That... that’s a huge mantis!”

The crowd screamed. Those who were faint-hearted simply collapsed to the ground in terror.

Some reacted quickly and turned to run.

The mantis was too fast. It dove down, swift as lightning.

The people below only felt a strong gust of wind sweep past as the creature ripped apart the first youth who tried to flee, its claws tearing him open before it sucked his soul into its mouth.

Suddenly, a new wisp of dark qi appeared around the mantis; the youth’s soul had become one of its Ghost Servants.

Chu Hao was also startled. Is this an AC-level Ghost? It’s far too horrifying, utterly eclipsing any single A-level Ghost. And to think, this is only AC-level. What about AB-level? Or double AA-level? Oh crap, thank goodness humans have nuclear weapons, or else we’d be toast.

A strange thought surfaced in Chu Hao’s mind. These Ghosts are so powerful—the Ghost Winged People, the Eight-Headed Ghost Mantis—why haven’t they simply dominated Earth? Could it be that Earth harbors hidden masters, something akin to superhumans?

Of course, this was just his wild speculation.

The scene was chaotic; those who had intended to escape were now trembling all over and shrieking.

The Eight-Headed Ghost Mantis fixed its gaze on everyone, its eyes lingering particularly on the Luos.

Old Master Luo trembled all over, his horror reaching its extreme.

He knew that among his ancestors, there had been a very powerful Taoist Master, but he hadn’t expected the creature subdued by his ancestor to be so terrifying.

He didn’t know that the Eight-Headed Ghost Mantis had been very weak in the past. It was only thanks to the Feng Shui array established by his ancestor that it had remained suppressed for so long.

Over the past century, it had absorbed increasing amounts of Yang Qi, and its strength was now almost fully restored. Finally, it no longer had to serve as the Luo family’s tool for generating wealth. It loathed every one of the Luos.

Now that it had escaped, why not kill to its heart’s content?

Old Master Luo felt its gaze upon him and began to tremble uncontrollably.

The mantis dove down, snatched up a member of the Luo family, and made an appetizer of him.

That person was none other than Luo Yu, the eldest son of the Luo family. This unlucky fellow was hooked into the sky, let out a wail, and then disappeared without a trace.

”Yu’er!!” Luo Yu’s father roared in agony.

Everyone watched in horror as a body plummeted from the sky. It was Luo Yu!

His death was extremely tragic: his eyes wide open, his chest ripped open.

”Ah!!” A woman screamed.

There was another flash, and this time, the one snatched up was not a member of the Luo family but an outsider.

Old Master Luo, shaking all over, feigned strength and said, ”Everyone... don’t run away. Once it’s full, it should return underground on its own.”

What the fuck!!

What utter nonsense was Old Master Luo spouting? Letting this monstrous thing devour them—was he even human?

They could only think of one kind of animal: the hyena.

Sneaky and cunning, hyenas love to feast on hearts and lungs. When large animals encounter them, they have no choice but to wait for death until the hyenas are sated and naturally leave.

At this moment, what difference was there between them and the food in a hyena’s mouth?

More people considered fleeing, unwilling to simply wait for death.

But the Eight-Headed Ghost Mantis moved again, its speed easily reaching thirty meters per second. How could people outrun it?

”Ah!”

Another body.

The Eight-Headed Ghost Mantis looked at everyone with a playful eye, deciding to enjoy its food slowly.

Old Master Luo trembled violently, utterly despondent. They had no control over this heirloom left by their ancestors.

Now, Old Master Luo could only pin all his hopes on Master Kong, saying, ”Master Kong, think of something quickly!”

Master Kong was also terrified; he had never seen such a grotesque creature before.

Master Kong hastily said, ”Don’t worry... it... after it eats a few more people, it... it should leave.”

Hearing his words, everyone was furious, filled with unprecedented rage.

”Son of a bitch! The Luo family must know what this is! Are you trying to kill us?” a middle-aged man raged.

Master Kong was also in despair; the creature above them was definitely not something he could handle.

Suddenly, Master Kong exclaimed, ”Wait... yes! There’s someone with a True Word Brush who might be able to deal with this Ghost!”

Who could he mean? It was Chu Hao, of course.

Chu Hao was still busy setting up the formation. He had just completed it. Wiping the sweat from his forehead, he looked up at the Eight-Headed Ghost Mantis in the sky and smiled faintly.

It’s time to show off, he thought.

Please note, Divine Master Bi Wang is about to come online.

However, Long Yuan and Du Yuezhen, panicking amidst the chaos, were more thrilled to see Chu Hao than if they had laid eyes on their own parents. They rushed up to him and said, ”Chu... Master Chu, you’re here?”

The two old men were incredibly excited.
