Ghost Catching System

In the following three days, a major event occurred in Longxi City: the Luo Family lost several members in a single night, all of them dying in extreme terror. Even those who didn’t die were scared into insanity. The entire city of Longxi was shocked, and its GDP plummeted. The Luo Family’s nationwide businesses faced a tremendous crisis. Those who knew the inside story were terrified, especially those aware of the inconceivable things existing in the world. Some began to embrace religion, believe in Buddhism, and perform charitable works, all hoping for protection from the ”deities” watching over them.

Three days later, the wronged spirits successively sought out Chu Hao. Most had been unjustly killed and harbored deep grudges against the Luo Family. After Chu Hao departed, they enacted their revenge.

Luo Yan and her daughter, learning of the Luo Family’s tragic state, felt very conflicted.

Old Master Luo’s fate was particularly miserable: he was flayed and his tendons were pulled out. Not even his soul was spared; it was devoured by a group of Evil Ghosts, reducing him to nothingness.

Luo Yun was terrified to the point of madness and was reportedly now suffering from schizophrenia.

The Luo Family, it could be said, was thoroughly finished.

This was the cycle of karma; their ancestors should have anticipated this when they committed those acts.

When all the wronged spirits had gathered, Chu Hao couldn’t help frowning. The resentment emanating from them was too intense for them to enter the cycle of reincarnation. After some thought, he collected all the wronged spirits into the Ghost Gourd, planning to take them to the Ghost School to dissipate their resentment before sending them off for rebirth.

Over those three days, Luo Yan and her daughter’s moods finally calmed considerably, and smiles returned to their faces. The three of them then returned to Anli City.

「Meanwhile.」

Near the Ghost Gate Pass, a Ghost Officiant paced back and forth—it was none other than Gao Jingshou. He was incredibly frightened; Shorty was dead, and so were Ma Gaoshan and Niu Liushui. This matter had escalated, and the Underworld would sooner or later discover it.

Just as Gao Jingshou was gripped by fear and unease, two massive figures appeared: one with the head of an ox, the other with the face of a horse. They were the progenitors of soul-reaping, the Underworld’s Ox-Head and Horse-Face, the superiors of Gao Jingshou’s direct superior.

”Gao Jingshou.”

Gao Jingshou trembled all over with fright. The Ghost Qi emanating from Ox-Head and Horse-Face was dreadfully oppressive, bearing down on him like a mountain.

”My… My Lords.”

Horse Face, who had a human body with a horse’s head, spoke, ”Gao Jingshou, have you seen Niu Liushui and Ma Gaoshan?”

Those two Ghost Officiants were disciples of Horse Face and Ox Head.

”My Lords, I… I haven’t seen them,” Gao Jingshou barely managed to speak coherently.

”Hm?” A stream of black smoke snorted from Ox Head’s nostrils as he asked, ”What are you quivering for?”

Terrified, Gao Jingshou dropped to his knees, saying, ”Lord Ox-Head, Lord Horse-Face, I will speak the truth. Niu Liushui and Ma Gaoshan have been killed.”

”Hm?” Ox-Head and Horse-Face were startled.

Horse Face took out his Ghost-whipping Whip and lashed it hard against Gao Jingshou, who wailed miserably, his soul feeling as if it were about to disintegrate.

”Speak! What exactly happened?”

Gao Jingshou dared not conceal anything further and recounted the entire story.

”Those scoundrels! To actually go to the Yang Realm and kill for Taisui Meat!” Horse Face said angrily, the whip cracking relentlessly on Gao Jingshou, who screamed unceasingly.

Ox Head, towering and formidable like a small mountain, said furiously, ”To think someone dares to exterminate Ghost Officiants! This is utter lawlessness!”

Horse Face spoke coldly, ”Brother Ox, what are your thoughts on this matter?”

”To eliminate Ghost Officiants, the perpetrator must be quite capable. Let’s investigate his identity first,” Ox Head replied.

”Alright.”

Luo Yan and Fang Linxuan left, saying they would invite Chu Hao to dinner that evening as a token of their gratitude. Chu Hao did not refuse.

Back in Anli City, Chu Hao immediately went to the Ghost Office, consumed a Soul Out-of-Body Pill, and entered the Ghost Cave.

When the Ghost King saw Chu Hao, his enthusiasm was boundless. Surrounded by swirling Ghost Qi, he resembled a giant gorilla with piercingly bright eyes. ”Vice Principal,” he said, ”I was just looking for you! I wonder if you’ve appointed a Resident Director yet?”

Meeting the Ghost King for the second time, Chu Hao still found him unsettling. You’re a Ghost King, for crying out loud! Why are you so devoid of dignity? Where has your majesty gone? Not only did you establish a school, but you’ve also made it so formal—it’s truly a breath of fresh air in the Ghost Realm.

Chu Hao cleared his throat and said, ”Then I’ll arrange for two.”

The Ghost King beamed with joy. ”Our school is in dire need of elite talents!”

The Ghost School was currently short on ghosts, especially capable ones. The Ghost King was filled with anticipation.

Chu Hao wasn’t stingy; this place was a long-term meal ticket for Experience Points. He summoned Jiayeci and Chu Renmei.

”From now on, you two will stay here and help the Ghost King, which in turn helps me,” Chu Hao instructed.

The two Ghost Servants nodded. ”Yes, Master.”

The Ghost King immediately welcomed them warmly. ”What skills do you two possess?”

With disheveled hair and an aura of grim Ghost Qi, Jiayeci said, ”I know Hair Strangler, throat-locking, bone-dismantling, telekinesis, and ghost assimilation.”

The Ghost King was taken aback. Good heavens, you weren’t brought here for violence!

Embarrassed, Chu Hao said, ”Jiayeci, this is the Ghost School. From now on, you’re a teacher here. No violence allowed.”

Jiayeci murmured an ”oh,” thought for a moment, and then asked, ”Does Japanese count?”

The Ghost King said, ”Japanese is great! We have a group of ghosts from the Dwarf Kingdom in our school, and currently, no one can communicate with them.”

Chu Beauty said, ”I speak Cantonese.”

The Ghost King, feeling helpless, looked pitifully at Chu Hao. Neither of these ghosts seems to have any particularly special talents. You’re the Ghost King! What’s with that innocent little look?

Chu Hao thought for a moment, searching through the System store. I must find a Ghost Servant with strong educational principles to oversee things; otherwise, how will Brother Hao maintain his reputation? Besides, I genuinely want to develop the Ghost School. The future benefits could be substantial. Zhuge Liang? No, that won’t do. He’s a great warlord, and this isn’t about fighting a war. Li Bai? Though he’s the immortal poet, celebrated throughout the ages, can I really have him teach poetry? Better not. He might get drunk and disband the Ghost School with his ramblings.

After much searching, Chu Hao’s eyes lit up. He saw Confucius.

Confucius: Family name Zi, clan name Kong, given name Qiu, courtesy name Zhongni. A native of Zouyi in the State of Lu, with ancestral roots in Liyi, State of Song. He was a renowned great thinker and educator who pioneered private tutoring and founded the Confucian school of thought.

Confucius, the father of teaching, could definitely command respect here.

Chu Hao cleared his throat. ”Well, Principal, I can find someone with an educational philosophy, but inviting this person might be a bit… troublesome.”

The Ghost King was taken aback and immediately asked, ”How troublesome?”

Chu Hao smiled. ”This individual is an ancestor who pioneered education. He goes by the name Confucius.”

What?! Confucius?!

The Ghost King, thinking he had misheard, leaped up excitedly and grabbed Chu Hao’s hand tightly. ”Brother, where is this great deity?”

Chu Hao pointed downward. ”Down below. But inviting him is very difficult. After all, he’s in high demand. If we want to invite him, we’ll have to offer something significant.”

The Ghost King hurriedly said, ”Even if I have to sell everything I own, I’ll invite him! How many Merit Points will it take? Just name your price!”

Merit Points—the most important thing in the Three Realms—and this Ghost King actually has them! He’s clearly more formidable than he appears.

System Notification: ”Merit Points unlocked. They can be exchanged for Pretentiousness Points and Experience Points. 1 Merit Point can be exchanged for 10 Experience Points, or 0.1 Pretentiousness Points.”
