Ghost Catching System

The Dark Killing Ghost screamed in alarm as Chu Hao closed in, thrusting the Night Demon Spear in his hand. The spear lunged like a dragon.

”AH!”

The Dark Killing Ghost let out a piercing shriek. Even those outside the office building could faintly hear it. It didn’t sound human, and their bodies involuntarily shuddered. A hole was pierced through the Dark Killing Ghost’s left shoulder, and a black flame began to burn her soul.

A ghost’s soul is already very fragile. Once injured, the pain is amplified a thousandfold. Chu Hao lifted the Night Demon Spear, pinning her against the wall, and said coldly, ”Once a Taoist Master like myself makes a move, creatures like you, Xiao Gui, can be turned to ash in the blink of an eye.”

”DING… Host successfully showed off, gaining 300 Pretentiousness Points.”

Chu Hao now exuded an incredibly terrifying oppressive force, stunning even Ze Ming, who stood by.

The Dark Killing Ghost was terrified to her core. She realized how laughable it was for her to have come all this way just to court death.

Chu Hao said, ”Speak. What do you want the True Word Brush for?”

The little Female Ghost, terrified, hurriedly replied, ”The True Word Brush can make us ghost fiends stronger, and it hides Taoist treasures. Moreover, we can’t let the Taoists get their hands on it.”

Chu Hao asked, ”How many ghosts have come to Anli City?”

The little Female Ghost replied in pain, ”Many, mostly from the Southern Region. The Ghost King even ordered us to come and probe the situation.”

”Ghost King?” Chu Hao muttered.

”Yes... It’s the Ghost King from Ghost King Valley. He commands all the ghost fiends from the southwest and opposes Taoism.”

This was the first time Chu Hao had heard that ghosts also had forces that could contend with Taoism; it was indeed thought-provoking.

”Doesn’t the Underworld care?” Chu Hao asked with some curiosity.

The little Female Ghost replied, ”They can’t control it. The seven Ghost Kings in the Yang Realm possess power beyond the jurisdiction of the Underworld Judges. Moreover, ever since the Song Emperor’s rebellion in the Underworld eighteen years ago, the Underworld has been too busy managing its own affairs to concern themselves with us.”

So that’s how it is, Chu Hao thought.

Chu Hao said indifferently, ”Since you’ve told me so much, this Taoist Master will not destroy you.”

The little Female Ghost was ecstatic.

Chu Hao’s Night Demon Spear transformed into the shape of an umbrella. He poked the little Female Ghost with it, obviously triggering the Night Demon Umbrella’s skill.

”DING… Night Demon Umbrella absorbs Ghost Qi. Host gains one hundred thousand Experience Points.”

”DING… Night Demon Umbrella absorbs Ghost Qi. Host gains one hundred thousand Experience Points.”

”DING… Night Demon Umbrella absorbs Ghost Qi. Host gains one hundred thousand Experience Points.”

...

Experience Points kept flooding in, greatly delighting Chu Hao. The Night Demon Umbrella’s skill is simply heaven-defying!

While he was thrilled, the Dark Killing Ghost was in agony. She found that the Ghost Qi she had accumulated over many years was being absorbed by the umbrella, weakening her strength.

”What have you done?” the Dark Killing Ghost screamed.

After absorbing three hundred thousand Experience Points, Chu Hao withdrew the Night Demon Umbrella. Looking at the Dark Killing Ghost on the ground, she was much weaker. Her level had also dropped to the brink of the Evil Ghost Level.

This Night Demon Umbrella is indeed useful; it’s a perfect weapon for tormenting ghosts, Chu Hao thought, unfazed. He then said, ”This Taoist Master will not destroy you. However, you have committed many evils and deserve some minor punishment.”

Minor punishment? the Dark Killing Ghost fumed internally. You’re taking my life away! The Ghost Qi I’ve cultivated for over four hundred years—six percent of it vanished in just a moment!

”You’re shameless!” the Dark Killing Ghost raged.

Oh? Really? Chu Hao mused. She wants to kill me, yet she calls me shameless! Seems like the lesson wasn’t harsh enough.

He declared, ”Poke!”

The tip of the umbrella stabbed her again. The Dark Killing Ghost screamed miserably as her Ghost Qi disappeared once more, as if she were enduring the world’s most excruciating torment. In just a moment, she had been demoted from a Dark Killing Ghost to the Evil Ghost level.

Gaining another three hundred thousand Experience Points, Chu Hao felt immensely thrilled.

Chu Hao withdrew the Night Demon Umbrella and said, ”Convinced now?”

The Dark Killing Ghost was terrified. Before she could even speak, Chu Hao sneered, ”I offered you an out, but you wouldn’t take it.”

He declared again, ”Poke!”

The Dark Killing Ghost screamed. She was already wilted and had completely turned into an ordinary Xiao Gui.

She was utterly despairing. With so many enemies already, and Chu Hao absorbing my strength, how can I survive?

”You... Just kill me,” the Dark Killing Ghost said, her voice filled with extreme fear and utter weakness.

Chu Hao spoke righteously, ”This Taoist Master seldom takes lives. Live well—no! Be a good ghost, and maybe you can be reincarnated as a human.”

I can’t exterminate them all, Chu Hao thought. Since Anli City has attracted so many ghosts, all seeking me out, why not let her spread the word? Ha ha... that would be a long-term meal ticket!

The Dark Killing Ghost was filled with despair. Dragging her weary, injured form, she quickly fled. She didn’t want to stay a minute longer—Chu Hao was too frightening.

Seeing the Dark Killing Ghost flee for her life, the surrounding Wandering Wild Ghosts naturally did the same, disappearing in no time.

Chu Hao was very satisfied with the outcome. He then turned to Zeming Taoist and said indifferently, ”I’m usually a man of peace. I don’t offend others unless they offend me first.”

Zeming Taoist took a deep breath. He hadn’t expected Chu Hao’s strength to be so terrifying. He took a step back, his tone cautious, ”Chu Hao, the True Word Brush in your hand is vitally important to Taoism. Please hand it over.”

Chu Hao became angry. The True Word Brush was mine to begin with, and this guy, near death’s door, is still after it? Does he think I’m just for show?

Chu Hao walked over. Zeming Taoist panicked, a talisman appearing in his hand as he shouted, ”Don’t come closer!”

Chu Hao looked at him and couldn’t help but sneer, ”TSK TSK... Aren’t your Mao Mountai’s Taoism talismans used to deal with ghosts? You want to use them against me?”

Zeming Taoist said coldly, ”You are powerful, but you are not a match for all of Taoism. Hand over the True Word Brush. It’s for the good of the people.”

Stealing something and still spouting such righteous words? Claiming it’s for the good of the people? Why don’t you just go die? Chu Hao fumed internally.

He took a step forward, swinging his wide palm fiercely.

Zeming Taoist shouted, ”Go!”

The talisman burst into flames, and a wall of fire erupted in front of him, trying to repel Chu Hao. But he underestimated the power of the Night Demon Umbrella; its tip pierced through the firewall and stabbed into Zeming Taoist’s right shoulder.

Zeming Taoist screamed in pain, blood splattering everywhere. He clutched his right shoulder and stumbled back repeatedly.

A silhouette charged out of the firewall, black umbrella in hand, smashing straight towards him.

”Take this!” Chu Hao shouted.

The tremendous force sent Zeming Taoist flying sideways. He crashed into the wall, spitting out blood. Zeming Taoist clutched his abdomen, terrified out of his wits, and stammered, ”L-let’s talk this out.”

Chu Hao strode forward, stepped on his chest, and said, ”If I were you, I’d bring more people next time. You alone are hardly impressive.”

Pinned underfoot, Zeming Taoist felt intense pain in his chest. He gasped in a mixture of rage and panic, ”Chu Hao, do you want to make an enemy of the entire Taoist community?”

Chu Hao had no patience for him. He lifted him up and delivered several harsh slaps. The force was so great that each slap left red handprints on Zeming Taoist’s handsome face, which, after a few slaps, swelled up like a pig’s head.
