Ghost Catching System

Chu Hao sneered. So, they’re actually here for me.

The three of them entered the office building and walked down a corridor filled with employees, each wearing an expression of terror. Chu Hao and Zeming Taoist immediately saw the bloody handprints inside the office building. These bloody handprints were everywhere: on desks, computers, walls, and documents. The entire office was in disarray.

Zeming muttered, ”Bloody handprints.”

Mu Yufei said with concern, ”We were working overtime when, suddenly, bloody handprints appeared everywhere. One of the company employees went mad and started stabbing other employees with scissors.”

This was indeed very strange. With so many bloody handprints appearing, it was understandable that Mu Yufei had called him.

Chu Hao said, ”Sister Yu Fei, since I’m helping you out this time, you owe me another favor.”

Mu Yufei said, embarrassed, ”I didn’t want to trouble you, but I don’t think the police can handle this. Only you can. Don’t worry... I will pay you.”

Chu Hao pursed his lips. ”You still haven’t paid me for last time.”

She still hadn’t given him that kiss from the last time.

At the mention of this, Mu Yufei’s face turned slightly red. She said teasingly, ”You just love to joke. Are you going to help or not?”

Chu Hao smiled. ”It’s a trivial matter.”

Just then, Zeming had already walked in. Seeing Chu Hao follow, he frowned and said, ”Don’t come in.”

Chu Hao responded, ”You do your thing. I’m just taking a look.”

Zeming saw that Chu Hao wasn’t listening and couldn’t be bothered to care. He’ll find out what fear is soon enough, he thought.

Chu Hao saw the bloody handprints. There were many of them, all suffused with Ghost Qi. He also saw Wandering Wild Ghosts nearby, their expressions blank, as if they had been lured here.

A tinkling laugh like a wind chime sounded, and he saw a girl, about fifteen or sixteen years old, swinging her pale legs. Her face was a ghastly white—not the deathly white of a ghost, but rather a soft and eerie pallor—as she stared straight at Chu Hao and Zeming.

The System prompted: ”Dark Killing Ghost detected.”

Brother Hao is pretty lucky, huh? He just got the Night Demon Umbrella, and now a Dark Killing Ghost delivers itself up as an easy kill?

Chu Hao narrowed his eyes, remaining calm.

Zeming activated his Heavenly Eye, immediately spotted the little girl, and said coldly, ”What manner of malevolent creature are you, and why are you harming others?”

The little girl swung her legs, cocked her head, and asked, ”Are you Chu Hao?”

Chu Hao: ”...”

What the heck? I don’t know you!

This is perplexing. Why is everyone looking for me today?

Zeming said coldly, ”I am not Chu Hao.”

Damn it! So she wasn’t asking me? Is my presence really that insignificant?

The little girl giggled. ”Little Taoist priest, since you’re not Chu Hao, then scram. Don’t say I didn’t give you a chance to escape with your life.”

Chu Hao couldn’t help but ask, ”Hey, what do you want with Chu Hao?”

Zeming looked at Chu Hao in surprise. This person can see ghosts?

The little girl’s demeanor was indifferent, as if she held neither Zeming Taoist nor Chu Hao in any regard. ”Looks like quite a few Taoist cultivators have arrived,” she said. ”Good... I’ll kill two for fun first. Chu Hao should show up then, right?”

Chu Hao’s temper flared. What am I, a shrimp you can pinch as you please? Did you bastards even ask me?

Zeming, however, snorted coldly. ”Let’s see whose soul is scattered first.”

Are you two acting like Brother Hao doesn’t exist?

Chu Hao coughed pointedly. ”Ahem, the Chu Hao you’re looking for? That’s me.”

Just as the human and the ghost were about to battle, they simultaneously turned their heads upon hearing this, their eyes filled with fervor as they stared intently at Chu Hao.

Ze Ming seemed excited but remained outwardly calm. ”Do you have any proof?” he asked.

Chu Hao was speechless. They came to deal with me, I told them I’m Chu Hao, and they still don’t believe me? Do I need to show them my ID to prove it?

With a wave of his hand, Chu Hao adopted the inscrutable aura of a Grandmaster, as if the world were his stage and everyone existed for him. He said indifferently, ”You two youngsters dare to come after me without even knowing who this Taoist Master is?”

”Listen well! I am Chu Hao, the King of Show-offs! I’ve never changed my name, nor my surname. At the end of the road to arrogance, who will be my match? Once you recognize my true self, you’ll find your pretensions are empty.”

”Now tell me, are you afraid?”

”Ding… Host has successfully shown off, earning 300 Pretentiousness Points.”

The human and the ghost were dumbfounded. This guy is Chu Hao? He’s not at all like what we imagined. Are we sure he isn’t some show-off who just got out of prison?

Ze Ming’s mouth twitched. ”Rumor has it that Chu Hao possesses the True Word Brush. If you are him, bring it out for us to see.”

Chu Hao looked at him as if he were an idiot. ”You’ve come to steal the True Word Brush, yet you’re asking me to prove myself by showing it? Did you get your head slammed in a door?”

Ze Ming, flushed with shame and anger, shouted, ”It doesn’t matter whether you’re Chu Hao or not! Today, I will retrieve that Taoist treasure! It belongs to our Taoist sect and must not fall into the hands of an outsider!”

The Dark Killing Ghost girl also stood up and said chillingly, ”So there really is a True Word Brush. It wasn’t in vain that I traveled all this way to Anli City. Mortal! Hand over the True Word Brush, or... you won’t live to see tomorrow.”

In an instant, both the human and the ghost turned their fiery aggression towards Chu Hao, perfectly united in their new focus.

Chu Hao looked at the human and the ghost. Too arrogant for words.

Chu Hao said coldly, ”Are you two coming at me together, or one at a time?”

The little girl smiled ferociously and pounced, her body shrouded in a terrifying ghostly aura, revealing sharp fangs and inch-long, deadly nails. Her Ghost Qi was terrifying; ordinary people couldn’t withstand it. She was at the Dark Killing Ghost Level. To her, Sha Ghosts were nothing more than fleas.

Chu Hao took out the Night Demon Umbrella. It looked like an ordinary black umbrella, but he swung it fiercely in the direction of the pouncing Dark Killing Ghost. The fifty-pound Night Demon Umbrella, heavy enough to shatter stones, sent the Dark Killing Ghost flying. She let out a shrill scream as sparks CRACKLED and POPPED around her body.

Inscriptions had appeared on the Night Demon Umbrella.

The Dark Killing Ghost cried out in pain, looking in shock at the umbrella in Chu Hao’s hands.

Ze Ming was also astounded. That umbrella can hit ghosts instantly, and its inscriptions are exceedingly intricate!

But that wasn’t all. Chu Hao silently commanded, ”Spear Form.”

The Night Demon Umbrella flashed with a dark light and instantly transformed into a long spear, looking incredibly cool.

The human, the ghost, and even some curious office staff watching from outside were taken aback. They had witnessed an umbrella transform into an incredibly cool long spear right before their eyes.

Is this thing really an umbrella? Are we certain it isn’t some kind of magical artifact from a fantasy novel?

Chu Hao, holding the long spear, said indifferently, ”You traveled all this way to find me. Sorry to disappoint, but this Taoist Master is going to destroy you today.”

”Ding… Host has displayed overwhelming coolness and pretentiousness, earning 600 Pretentiousness Points.”

Leveling up and showing off feels amazing!

Chu Hao lunged with the spear. The Dark Killing Ghost let out a piercing shriek, her eyes turning blood-red. Her hair instantly grew, spreading out in all directions, trying to envelop Chu Hao.

Chu Hao, Night Demon Spear in hand, snorted coldly and swept it across.

Instantly, the dense mass of hair before him, like a cascading waterfall, was sliced apart, and its Ghost Qi was devoured by the Night Demon Spear. The Night Demon Spear, in turn, grew even darker and glossier, exuding an intangible aura of dominance.
