Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1675: Chapter 822: Another Year (10,000-Word Update!)

Zhou Yun also followed with red eyes, and wiped away a tear. This scene was captured by the crew’s photographer responsible for filming records.

Before returning to Australia, Zhou Yun met with Yuh Huaijiang.

Ever since Yuh Huaijiang invited Zhou Yun to film ”Hidden Mountain Scholar,” he has been occasionally chatting with her about movies.

Yuh Huaijiang said to Zhou Yun, ”This movie will be sent to Cannes this year, and hopefully, it can be shortlisted for a competition section. If you have time, help promote this movie.”

Zhou Yun nodded and agreed.

Yuh Huaijiang continued, ”Xiao Mo has written a new script, are you interested in taking a look?”

Zhou Yun said, ”Of course, I am.”

Yuh Huaijiang: ”However, the female role in this script doesn’t have much screen time.”

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yun nodded and said, ”It’s okay, let me see the script first. As long as the role is appropriate and has acting potential, I’m willing to act.”

Yuh Huaijiang was very pleased and nodded.

The post-production for ”Hidden Mountain Scholar” has not been completed yet, and Mo Conglan is still focusing mainly on ”Hidden Mountain Scholar.”

Yuh Huaijiang asked, ”So, will you focus on Hollywood for your future film projects?”

Zhou Yun shook her head and said, ”Not really, it’s not about focusing on any particular side; I’m still very concerned about the script.”

”Actually, for a movie, sometimes the script is not that important. Look at many big directors, the stories in their films are often very poor, but they shoot them artistically.”

”Yes, but besides films by big directors, I also want to collaborate with other directors, like a new director Mo Conglan. Sometimes, a new director doesn’t have any representatives work, or their previous films were not good. Seeing a script is not just about the story; it’s also about their understanding of the film, especially for auteur directors.”

Yuh Huaijiang suddenly thought of something, ”Xiao Yun, since you’re so interested in auteur directors, would you be interested in being a judge at a film festival that discovers new directors?”

”Hmm?”

”Three Grain Film Festival.” Yuh Huaijiang said, ”I organized this before. It’s aimed at discovering new directors and giving them a chance.”

Zhou Yun was curious and asked, ”But isn’t it difficult for new directors to even make a film? Does this festival only accept entries from debut films?”

Yuh Huaijiang nodded.

Zhou Yun instinctively felt that it might be difficult for this festival to run long-term.

A festival that only accepts debut films means each participant is different every time, and it would be hard to cultivate its own directors or expand its influence.

Of course, what Yuh Huaijiang is doing is really remarkable.

Zhou Yun and Yuh Huaijiang chatted, suddenly talking about a recently released movie, which is Yin Lin’s ”Silent Life.”

This is the new movie Yin Lin made after winning an award last year. After its release, the box office was okay, currently over 300 million, but the word of mouth was mediocre, and many people criticized it as a lousy film.

Yuh Huaijiang said, ”Yin Lin’s eye for choosing scripts is not as good as yours.”

Zhou Yun didn’t dare to respond to this and said, ”There is a lot of luck involved in choosing scripts. Actually, since ’Silent Life’ achieved box office success, it shows it has its merits.”

Yuh Huaijiang: ”I told her earlier not to start accepting lousy films just because she’s popular, it would deplete her.”

Zhou Yun didn’t know what to say.

As an actress herself, Zhou Yun actually understands Yin Lin very well.

For an actor, it’s not just about performing well, nor is it about wanting to act in lousy films.

Who wants to act in lousy films?

When filming, everyone thinks about making the movie good.

Moreover, for Yin Lin, since she already won an award, she now needs a movie that can prove she can drive box office success.

”Silent Life” achieved box office success, making Yin Lin more than just a Movie Queen in the market, but also a profitable Movie Queen.

This offers her more advantages in choosing film projects in the future.

Zhou Yun believes these principles, Yuh Huaijiang surely understands, but may not necessarily accept.

Returning to the ”Killing Song” crew in Australia, Zhou Yun continued to focus on her filming.

On the day they had agreed to watch a movie together, Zhou Yun took out the tickets and handed them to Nakajima Hoto.

Nakajima Hoto hesitated for a moment and said, ”Xiao Yun, I thought about it and decided not to. I don’t want to take a bold step in expressing my feelings to Chris now; if he doesn’t accept, it will be too awkward afterwards when we still have to film together.”

Zhou Yun was stunned for a moment.

She thinks Nakajima Hoto also has a point. After hesitating for a while, she nodded and said, ”Alright, let’s all go together then.”

Nakajima Hoto smiled.

After this, Zhou Yun no longer brought up Nakajima Hoto’s feelings for Chris Pine.

She vaguely realized that she might have misunderstood Nakajima Hoto’s intentions.

January passed quickly.

Yuk Chu joined the crew of the TV series ”Flowers on the Stars,” starting her role as the female lead.

Wang Jing joined the film ”Arrow on the Bowstring” directed by Liu Yide, taking the role of the second female lead.

Lu Zhongting completed filming on the web series ”Sealed Memories 1995” after two months and began to rest.

Huang Zicheng’s TV series ”Tiger Mother,” which he joined last month, continues filming.

Everyone was busy.

Lew Yuan served as the producer and host for the show ”Life Visit,” which officially aired. In the first episode, Zhou Yun and Song Chi rarely appeared together, sparking heated discussions and viewing frenzy domestically.

Ning Yao took on the role in the TV series ”Shining Waves,” generating much anticipation and being seen as a strong competitor for Movie Queen the year after next.

The official trailer for ”Chen Yin” was released, announcing its March premiere. It will be co-launched on the US Paimon online streaming platform, Japan’s U-NEXT, and Korea’s Wav, creating a buzz in the domestic film industry.

It’s the first time a Chinese TV drama is broadcasted simultaneously in so many countries and regions globally. Zhou Yun’s international influence has been highlighted by the media once again.

Song Chi’s new film ”Cigarette” announced its release for February 21st, and media suggested it leveraged the audience’s enthusiasm from the Berlin Film Festival to draw them into the theaters, saving on advertising costs.

The start of the year, everyone was busy like crazy.

With the year-end approaching, the Spring Festival was near.

Zhou Yun discussed with Zhou Lan that this year, everyone’s annual bonus at the studio would increase by one-third compared to the same position last year.

Primarily, the studio’s revenue has increased significantly compared to last year.

The gifts need to be given, the red envelopes need to be handed out, and although Zhou Yun is abroad, she handles domestic affairs every day.

Everyone was very happy.
