Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2498: Chapter 2499: Ritual Locates the Target

Bai Ruozhu didn’t bother to pay attention to the astrologer and rushed straight into the room, grabbing Jiang Yichun’s hand and asking, ”Achun, how do you feel?”

Jiang Yichun, somewhat bewildered, lifted the blanket and saw his lower body fishtail twitch, and then, at a speed visible to the naked eye, it transformed into legs.

Immediately, he quickly pulled the blanket up again, just having turned back into legs was quite bare, and he felt embarrassed about it.

Bai Ruozhu saw he wasn’t having any abnormal reaction and finally relaxed.

”Have Bai and Jiang officers received my sincerity? May I come in and speak?” The astrologer asked from outside the door.

Jiang Yichun, unaware of their previous conversation, hurriedly glanced at Bai Ruozhu. Bai Ruozhu told him, ”He isn’t Ning Yu, but Ning Yu’s twin brother.”

Then she walked to the main gate and welcomed the astrologer into the room.

”Officer, please come in and speak.”

The astrologer smiled, ”We’re quite familiar now. Just call me by my name.”

Bai Ruozhu was not polite, leading him to the table to sit down. She then noticed Jiang Yichun making eyes at her and quickly explained the situation the astrologer talked about.

Jiang Yichun listened without saying anything, just looking at Bai Ruozhu, leaving her quite confused.

Finally, Jiang Yichun said with a straight face, ”Help me get those pants.”

Bai Ruozhu’s mouth twitched, ah, this was a hint, and she didn’t react.

She quickly fetched a pair of pants, and Jiang Yichun put them on under the blanket with a sullen face, then finally got off the bed.

The astrologer helped himself to pour tea and didn’t look at Jiang Yichun, avoiding any awkwardness for him.

”Do you have any way to find my brother?” he asked after Jiang Yichun finished tidying up and put down the teacup.

Jiang Yichun scrutinized him for a while and said, ”No, otherwise I wouldn’t have mistaken you for Ning Yu.”

The astrologer furrowed his brows, ”I don’t know if he might be in danger now.”

”If what you worry about holds true, the people who brought him to Fusang did so because he resembles you. I think he should still be safe, but he’s likely not active in the Kyoto area,” Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment and said.

The astrologer nodded, ”I’ll have the family inquire about the news, and additionally, do you have a grudge against She Zongyi?”

”Since we’re friends, I won’t hide anything. We once encountered attacks from the Black Pirates at sea, and the master behind the Black Pirates is She Zongyi,” Bai Ruozhu candidly revealed.

This time, the astrologer was surprised, ”She Zongyi has such capability.”

”But we captured his ship. He tried to reclaim it once but we didn’t return it,” Jiang Yichun said.

”No wonder there was a large mobilization of Shadow Ninjas that night; Kyoto is about to fall into chaos,” the astrologer sighed deeply.

”You’re familiar with Kyoto; do you know aside from the Emperor and She Zongyi, who else has privately trained Shadow Ninjas?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

”Another group of Shadow Ninjas?” the astrologer was once again surprised, clearly unaware of this.

Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment, ”You are capable of divination; can you figure out which man the deceased empress was in love with before marrying the Emperor?”

”Not impossible, but it requires something old belonging to the deceased empress,” the astrologer said.

Bai Ruozhu took out the jade bracelet given to her by Empress Shangzi and said, ”This item was gifted to me by Empress Shangzi; she’s probably worn it for over twenty years. Initially, it was given to her by the empress, but this bracelet has been tampered with to prevent women who wear it from conceiving. I think the empress herself wouldn’t wear it; this bracelet seems to be given to the empress by that man. I wonder if it can be used.”

The astrologer took the bracelet and examined it, ”Let me try it first.”

Saying this, he placed the bracelet in the center of the table, quickly laid down several talismans, and began performing the magic technique.

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun exchanged glances; it’s said that when a technique master performs a magic technique, trusted people should be nearby because during that time, they are easily ambushed and have almost no protection. The same holds true for a Yin Yang Master.

The astrologer probably wanted to demonstrate his sincerity and trust in this way.

”It’s not very clear; it’s a middle-aged man with a beard on his chin that seems dressed as an officer...” the astrologer’s voice came through.

Bai Ruozhu was a bit surprised; is it not forbidden to be an officer? Is there some discrepancy here?

”He has a knife wound on his shoulder!”

Beside the jade bracelet, all the talisman paper turned to ashes, and the astrologer opened his eyes, ”That’s all I can see; I’ve done my best.”

”That’s certainly adequate. We’ll check which officer got injured in the past few days and might know who he is,” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Leave this matter to me; I have a position in the court, although I don’t need to participate in daily discussions. I’ll take the chance to investigate,” the astrologer responded.

”Then I’ll trouble you.”

The astrologer got up and bowed to Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun, ”I’ll take my leave for now.”

Jiang Yichun smiled, ”It looks like you also need to find Qiu Zhi and perhaps engage in a magic duel to avoid suspicion.”

”Exactly what Jiang officer says.”

The astrologer left the room and went to find Qiu Zhi; Qiu Zhi energetically engaged in a magic duel with him, unexpectedly resulting in the astrologer’s defeat.

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun watched from the door; Jiang Yichun said, ”Do you think he lost on purpose to Qiu Zhi?”

Bai Ruozhu shook her head, ”Shadow Ninjas have their pride, losing on purpose to Qiu Zhi wouldn’t happen; he probably lost momentum or energy during the earlier magic technique, that’s why he fell short.”

Jiang Yichun observed that the astrologer didn’t explain, just bowed and said, ”Master Qiu’s skill is indeed superior; farewell for now.”

Qiu Zhi had an excited expression, ”Thanks for conceding, thanks for conceding.”

The astrologer nodded and left, not offering a single explanation throughout, nor showing any frustration at losing the competition. He was quite a steady person.

Bai Ruozhu sighed, ”After all, he’s the twin brother of the master, so how could he be any different? This was truly a grievance for him.”

At this moment, Qiu Zhi ran over excitedly, ”Master, did you see that? I just defeated the Fusang Yin Yang Master!”

Bai Ruozhu’s mouth twitched, and she really felt at a loss for words.

Jiang Yichun glared at Qiu Zhi; this lad was boasting again, simply asking for a beating.

”Neither arrogance with victory nor discouragement with defeat; look at the attitude of the Yin Yang Master. Is this the demeanor of Dragon Tiger Gate?” he said bluntly.

Qiu Zhi deflated hearing this, scratched his head, and said, ”I wasn’t arrogant, just a little excited, thinking that our Zhongyuan Taoist Magic is stronger.”

Bai Ruozhu waved her hand, ”Alright, go indulge in your excitement indoors and get some rest early.”

”Yes, master.” Qiu Zhi still wanted to inquire what Bai Ruozhu and the astrologer were discussing earlier, but seeing Jiang Yichun’s blackened face, he could only slink back to his room.

Jiang Yichun held Bai Ruozhu’s hand, looking at his own legs again, feeling somewhat melancholic. If the astrologer hadn’t performed the magic technique to undo the effect of Yin Yang Rain today, would he be permanently unable to revert to human legs?
