Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2486: Chapter 2487: Belief and Doubt

On the next day, after Bai Ruozhu completed the treatment for the Second Prince, Otani’s voice came from outside: ”Sir Bai, the young lord is here to visit the Second Prince. The Emperor said if it’s convenient, let him come into the courtyard to see the Second Prince.”

Bai Ruozhu frowned and said to Jianqi: ”Go and ask what identity the young lord holds, also tell him I’m treating the Second Prince now, and ask them to wait.”

”Yes.” Jianqi responded and walked away.

The Second Prince had improved considerably and could slowly speak a bit. He noticed that Bai Ruozhu had clearly finished the treatment and couldn’t help but muster a stiff smile, saying: ”You seem to dislike Sir Shen?”

In the past two days, he and Bai Ruozhu had shared a few words, expressing his gratitude with a humble and sincere attitude, which improved Bai Ruozhu’s impression of him. Perhaps people truly mature significantly after experiencing major changes.

”He’s not gold; why should everyone like him?” Bai Ruozhu rolled her eyes.

The Second Prince was stunned for a moment, then burst into laughter, ”But how did you become enemies with him?”

”Would you believe me if I told you?” Bai Ruozhu raised her eyebrows, ”If I said that we encountered the infamous Black Pirate Ship on the sea and almost got killed and robbed by them, and that the master behind the Black Pirates is She Zongyi, would you believe it?”

This left the Second Prince beffuddled. His body had not yet recovered to a normal state. With so much information coming at once, he was truly unable to process it all.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t care whether he had heard her or not and directly turned around and walked away.

Jianqi had returned by now and told her: ”Master, it’s the eldest legitimate son of She Zongyi.”

Bai Ruozhu thought about how She Zongyi had just sent a Shadow Ninja to attack Achun, which annoyed her, ”Let him wait.”

Then she asked Teng Ya to prepare tea, which she accompanied with some dim sum and dried fruits. She sat in the courtyard, basked in the sun, and drank tea. After eating and drinking, she took out some medicine and busied herself with concocting it, idling for nearly two hours.

It was the voice of the Emperor arriving that woke Bai Ruozhu, ”Sir Bai, is Cilang alright?”

Bai Ruozhu came to her senses and realized that she had claimed she was treating, and ended up treating for so long. Otani might have thought there was another urgent matter, so he reported it to the Emperor.

She asked someone to open the door, saluted the Emperor, and said: ”Your Majesty, there’s no worry. It’s just that later on, he’ll need acupuncture and drug incense fumigation every few days without interruption. Today it just took a bit longer.”

The Second Prince saw her lie without batting an eyelid and found it amusing, but he became even more uncertain about the words she had spoken to him earlier, unsure if she was speaking out of frustration or genuinely.

If it was true that the Second Prince had known She Zongyi for eight years and was his biggest supporter and teacher, many matters would be disclosed to him. Why had there been no mention of pirates?

”As long as there is no issue, as long as there is no issue.” The poor Emperor was quite frightened. His face had only just started to recover. He walked forward, looked at the Second Prince at the palace gate, and asked: ”Cilang, how do you feel today?”

”Don’t worry, Father. I’m already much better.” The Second Prince said and smiled at the Emperor. His expression was lively, looking more and more like a normal person, though he was sitting in a medicine barrel, which seemed a bit incongruous.

At this moment, She Duanyuan stepped forward and saluted the Second Prince, ”Duanyuan greets the Second Prince. I’ve been unable to visit, and today I can finally see the Second Prince again. It’s a relief that you are safe.”

The Second Prince was close friends with She Duanyuan. He smiled and said: ”Once I recover, let’s drink together.”

Bai Ruozhu unceremoniously poured cold water on this, ”Second Prince, don’t blame me for not reminding you. Even once you’re completely detoxified, you can’t consume alcohol for at least half a year and must avoid overworking. Otherwise, the roots of your illness will be hard to heal.”

The Second Prince felt a sharp pang in his heart. He knew Bai Ruozhu disliked the She Family. Look, she directly found trouble.

”Oh, I understand.” He accepted it, showing no resistance or rejection. She Duanyuan did not expect the proud and somewhat rebellious Second Prince to be so obedient to Bai Ruozhu, surprising him into looking directly at this Zhongyuan girl.

Upon a glance, he saw a charming face, yet she wasn’t as tame as a Fusang girl; she had an air of valiance that made her uniqueness stand out.

He had followed his father’s orders keenly all along, but this time he felt a bit resistant internally. Contrary to the chief manager’s thoughts, it wasn’t like he intended to marry his childhood sweetheart’s cousin; he only liked her a bit, but it wasn’t to the extent of needing to marry her.

But this did not mean he was willing to pursue a Zhongyuan girl, especially one with enmity against his father.

At the same time, Bai Ruozhu was also assessing She Duanyuan. He seemed to be under twenty, handsome but devoid of scholarly air. He bore an air of a warrior’s pride, standing tall, presumably with a very beautiful birth mother.

”This is Zhongyuan’s Divine Doctor Sir Bai, correct? She Duanyuan greets Sir Bai.” Duanyuan bowed courteously, his posture elegant and graceful.

Bai Ruozhu snorted lightly, ”No need for excessive politeness; check on the Second Prince, then leave. His treatment today took too long; he needs good rest and cannot be disturbed by many people.”

Everyone could hear Bai Ruozhu’s slightly impolite tone. The Emperor couldn’t reprimand Bai Ruozhu, so he had to pretend he’d heard nothing.

She Duanyuan was always confident, having encountered numerous women who would attach themselves, but rarely someone as indifferent toward him as Bai Ruozhu, especially since Bai Ruozhu was such an outstanding woman.

A fighting spirit rose in him involuntarily, and he smiled, saying: ”You’re right, Sir Bai. I shall leave shortly.”

After speaking, he saluted the Second Prince and the Emperor, ”It was indeed rash of me today. I shouldn’t disturb His Highness’s rest; I’ll take my leave and visit His Highness another day.”

The Emperor quickly said: ”Cilang, rest well. I’ll also leave first.”

The Emperor and She Duanyuan left together, offering a few gentle words to soothe him, explaining that Bai Ruozhu was only concerned about the Second Prince’s condition and advising him not to take it to heart.

She Duanyuan smiled and said: ”Fret not, Your Majesty. In fact, I appreciate Sir Bai’s direct and straightforward nature. It’s refreshing.”

The Emperor laughed along, letting the matter slide.

In the courtyard, the Second Prince looked at Bai Ruozhu and asked: ”Must I rest? It’s so bright during the day, and I’m not sleepy.”

Bai Ruozhu shot him a sidelong glance, ”If you’re bored, I can have someone tell you stories. It’s better than being with those who pose a danger to you; otherwise, you wouldn’t even realize how you died.”

The Second Prince heard her barbs and felt displeased, retorting: ”Duanyuan and I are close friends; Teacher would not harm me.”

”Haha.” Bai Ruozhu laughed uncharitably, ”So, you don’t believe what I said earlier?”

The Second Prince suddenly found himself at a loss for words. He believed She Zongyi couldn’t be involved with pirates, but he also felt Bai Ruozhu had saved his life; he didn’t want to distrust Bai Ruozhu, putting him in quite a dilemma.
