Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2465: Chapter 2466: The Secret of Bai He

Everyone was closely watching the Second Prince, and this time he closed his eyes again, but it was just that action.

Bai Ruozhu took a deep breath, ”Don’t worry, I know you can’t speak now, I’ll just name a few people, if it’s wrong, just move your eyeballs left and right.”

”Your loyal bodyguard?”

After waiting for a bit, the Second Prince’s eyeballs moved left and right, although very slowly, but everyone still understood his meaning.

”Your royal concubine?”

As soon as Bai Ruozhu asked, the Emperor said, ”Cilang has not married a royal consort yet.”

”Then switch to your concubine or the women around you?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

This time, the Second Prince closed his eyes, and the Emperor was startled, ”When did you have a woman?”

”Your Majesty, send someone to check the Second Prince’s palace immediately.” Bai Ruozhu reminded.

”Alright, I’ll go instruct the people below right away.” The Emperor was about to walk outside.

”An ordinary girl won’t have such rare poison, leave her alive for a thorough interrogation.” Bai Ruozhu reminded again, vaguely feeling that the Emperor was really too kind-hearted and couldn’t think of these twists and turns.

The Second Prince also couldn’t hold on and fainted again.

Unexpectedly, the Emperor caught the person who poisoned him that night, and invited Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun to interrogate together.

Bai Ruozhu saw a woman not too young, she couldn’t distinguish between the hair ornaments of a Fusang girl and a matron, nor could she tell if the woman was married, but that woman looked old enough to be the Second Prince’s mother.

”I’ve already investigated clearly, it’s this Bai He who has been seducing Cilang, often serving by his side, and the daily stew was hand-cooked by her.” The Emperor said angrily.

Bai Ruozhu frowned slightly, she vaguely felt something strange, ”Your Majesty, what’s Bai He’s status, why is she in the Second Prince’s palace?”

Moreover, the name Bai He is really misleading.

The Emperor’s expression was somewhat embarrassed, he hesitated before saying, ”She is Cilang’s nursemaid; princes over six years old must be separated and reside on their own, not continue to stay by Yazi’s side, so Bai He was assigned here as the steward.”

Bai Ruozhu’s mouth twitched, this is like having an affair with one’s nursemaid, how is it different from ****, do Fusang people have a preference for this?

”Have mercy, Your Majesty, this servant really didn’t poison the Second Prince, following him is my only way out, how could I harm him? There must be some misunderstanding!” Bai He cried.

”Cilang said it was you, and you still dare to argue, come, use torture!” The Emperor said angrily.

Bai Ruozhu already vaguely felt that the poisoner was not Bai He after all, but Bai He indeed made mistakes and deserved some punishment.

Quickly, someone took a rattan stick and started whipping Bai He on her back, causing her to scream continuously, but she kept pleading her innocence, saying she would never harm the Second Prince.

After twenty or so strokes, Bai Ruozhu raised her hand and said, ”Your Majesty, I don’t think it’s her; otherwise, the person wouldn’t have let her live up until now. Perhaps someone used her to get close to the Second Prince, or tampered with her stew. But it’s been too long, it’s hard to find out anything.”

Bai He collapsed from the pain and suddenly changed her expression, saying, ”By the way, Your Majesty, my usual clay pot was broken a few days ago, which is strange, it was Ke Wei who bumped into me.”

”Who is Ke Wei?” Bai Ruozhu immediately asked.

The Emperor’s face changed, ”It’s the dark guard I arranged for Cilang, but he’s always been loyal to me, it can’t be him.”

He glared at Bai He, ”You’re really good at making groundless accusations.”

”Your Majesty, see clearly, I really didn’t!” Bai He was desperate, but unfortunately, no one saw it at the time, and she couldn’t prove her words right now.

”Your Majesty, why not temporarily hand her over to me, I’ll find a way to get to the bottom of this.” Bai Ruozhu wanted to use pills to see if Bai He was telling the truth, but didn’t want to use them in front of the Fusang people.

”Alright.” The Emperor immediately agreed, trusting Bai Ruozhu very much now.

Soon, Bai Ruozhu tapped Bai He’s acupoint and took her back to their temporary small yard.

”Is the Second Prince inside? Is he alright?” Bai He couldn’t move, being carried by Bai Ruozhu, feeling a bit scared, but upon entering the yard, she couldn’t help but ask.

Bai Ruozhu noticed the concern in her eyes, a kind of feeling that only a woman like Bai Ruozhu could discern; Bai He had deep feelings for the Second Prince.

She didn’t find Bai He being older than the Second Prince unsuitable, but the nursemaid’s identity was really...

”He’ll be fine.” Bai Ruozhu said indifferently.

Bai He let out a sigh of relief, ”I will tell you everything I know, but I truly didn’t poison the Second Prince, I’d rather die than harm him.”

Bai Ruozhu led her into her room, directly threw a pill into her mouth, and soon Bai He’s eyes lost focus.

Bai He confessed some things, also proving she wasn’t lying, but precisely because of this, Bai He had nothing secretive, so her confession wasn’t very useful; they still didn’t know who the poisoner was, though her clay pot was indeed knocked over by Ke Wei.

What kind of skill does a dark guard possess, might he accidentally bump into the nursemaid of the master, knocking over her clay pot?

Unless someone wanted to destroy that clay pot, eliminate the evidence, otherwise as long as the original clay pot was still there, Bai Ruozhu could surely find some clues.

Unfortunately, now the stupid fragments have already been thrown somewhere unknown.

”Have the Emperor secretly watch over that Ke Wei; it might not be him, perhaps he was also used.” Bai Ruozhu said to Jiang Yichun next to her.

Jiang Yichun didn’t rush to go out, he went behind to rub her brow, he disliked seeing her frown.

”Let the Emperor worry more, even if we can’t trace the person behind the scenes, it’s no loss for us, we just need to be vigilant and prepare ourselves.”

Bai Ruozhu puckered her lips, ”But the person behind might have the ’Poison Classic’; I need to find a way to get it.”

Jiang Yichun almost forgot about this, he smiled and said, ”Alright, I’ll help you get the ’Poison Classic’.”

”Aren’t you afraid I might learn poison more deeply and truly become the most venomous woman?” Bai Ruozhu jokingly said while holding onto his neck.

”What’s there to fear, death under the peony flower is charming even as a ghost.” Jiang Yichun laughed heartily, irritating Bai Ruozhu, making her grind her teeth; he was becoming more shameless.

To avoid arousing suspicion from the Emperor’s side, Bai Ruozhu kept Bai He for two more days before sending her back to the Emperor, explaining the results of her interrogation.

As for Bai He, she was completely oblivious, not remembering being interrogated; could it be that Master Bai was kind-hearted and believed her words, thus letting her go?

...

”Master, Bai Ruozhu noticed the tampering with the wooden barrel, we dare not move again these days, do you think...” A person in the shadowy corner asked.
