Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2452: Chapter 2453: Temporarily Confidential

Fo Lanying speculated to herself, guessing that the Emperor fell ill after his son’s sudden death, and Bai Ruozhu had a way to cure the Emperor’s illness, which was why she received such attention.

”So where are we going?” she asked.

”To the Palace to get medicine, just follow me closely,” said Bai Ruozhu.

Soon, they arrived at the Imperial Palace, where the samurai led them to the Medicine Storage. Bai Ruozhu did not shy away from the samurai and directly selected a considerable amount of precious medicinal materials, taking over a hundred types. The samurai even took a box to help her carry them, without a hint of complaint.

Fo Lanying was dumbfounded watching this. She dared to bet that Bai Ruozhu didn’t need so many medicines; it was clear she was just taking advantage of the situation to gain some benefits.

Ha, she certainly wouldn’t expose this.

Bai Ruozhu glanced at Fo Lanying sideways. Don’t think she didn’t know what Fo Lanying was thinking; it was her well-deserved reward for saving someone, wasn’t it?

”If Mr. Bai needs anything else, feel free to ask. If it’s not available in the Medicine Storage, I’ll immediately send someone to find it,” said the samurai. He paused and continued, ”My name is Lord Da Gu; please feel free to order me, Mr. Bai.”

”That should be enough. I’m only short of a few special medicinal materials that I happen to have, so there’s no need to trouble you, sir.” Bai Ruozhu said intentionally, though she really was not short of anything.

”Very well, thank you, Mr. Bai.”

The samurai then escorted Bai Ruozhu and Fo Lanying back to Zhaoti Temple, quickly returning to the Second Prince’s room.

By now, the ice in the room had been removed, but the Emperor was still there, looking somewhat excited.

”Your Majesty, all the medicinal materials have been gathered. I need three days to prepare the antidote. Once the antidote is ready, the Second Prince will need a medicinal bath every day without interruption, and moreover...” Bai Ruozhu elongated her words.

”What?” the Emperor asked urgently.

”The most dangerous aspect might be that someone will still try to harm the Second Prince. We’ve reached this point, and they will not give up easily; they might even become more desperate. During the detoxification process, nothing must go wrong. For instance, if someone secretly adds a little medicine to the Second Prince’s bath, he could die immediately,” Bai Ruozhu said slowly.

”This...” The Emperor frowned and after a pause, said, ”Please don’t speak about Cilang’s condition outside; I need to think about it carefully.”

”Okay.” Bai Ruozhu thought the best way would be to publicly announce the Second Prince’s sudden death, cancel next month’s enthronement ceremony, and then hold a fake funeral. This way, it would best mislead opponents, and the Second Prince would be a bit safer.

But the Fusang people are superstitious, and the living are reluctant to pretend to be dead. Bai Ruozhu felt it best not to suggest too much and let the Emperor consider it himself.

”Mr. Bai,” Lord Da Gu suddenly said, ”I have a question, a bit abrupt; I hope you don’t mind.”

Bai Ruozhu glanced at him, ”Go ahead.”

”You said detoxifying the Second Prince could take as short as a month or as long as three months. But if the Second Prince remains in such a state for long, and you later claim someone meddled, wouldn’t that just be raising His Majesty’s hopes in vain?” Lord Da Gu thought it over and asked, as he couldn’t believe the Second Prince was still alive.

Bai Ruozhu chuckled and said, ”Lord Da Gu, you are overthinking. I mentioned the detoxification time referring to complete detoxification and recovery. It doesn’t mean he can’t wake up during this period. Once the medicines are prepared and used, he’ll wake up in three days. However, since the slow-acting poison has deeply penetrated, initially, he’ll only be able to open his eyes and move his pupils, unable to move his body. Gradually, he’ll improve as detoxification progresses.”

The Emperor looked at Bai Ruozhu excitedly, ”Are you saying he can come back to life in three days?”

”In six days, it will take me three days to prepare the medicine,” Bai Ruozhu said, pursing her lips. ”He won’t be coming back to life; he’s already alive.”

”Yes, yes, Cilang is alive,” the Emperor said excitedly.

Bai Ruozhu bowed, ”Your Majesty, I will return to prepare the medicines. During these three days, please take good care of Master Puru, as he has just suffered a great ordeal and is quite frail. He can’t withstand any further trouble.”

The Emperor showed a guilty expression, ”I understand. It’s my fault for treating Master Puru unjustly; I won’t trouble him any further.”

Bai Ruozhu took Fo Lanying out, and Fo Lanying, holding her breath all the way, finally asked in a whisper, after leaving the Temple, ”He’s not dead? But he doesn’t seem to breathe.”

”In a few days, when I revive him, you’ll see,” Bai Ruozhu said with excitement. This was her first encounter with such a poison, and detoxifying it was a challenge, filling her with motivation.

She raised her eyebrows. This poison was similar to the one in the shadow samurai’s jaw and also came from the ”Poison Classic.” Perhaps she could find the rest of the ”Poison Classic” in Fusang.

Jiang Yichun emerged from the shadows and climbed into their horse carriage, asking, ”How did it go?”

”I’ll tell you when we get back,” Bai Ruozhu said, casting a glance at Fo Lanying. ”You heard what the Emperor just said; when we return, don’t speak about this to anyone else, not even Yuan Licheng.”

Fo Lanying pulled a face, ”How could our people leak information?”

Bai Ruozhu gestured for silence, ”It’s not that our people would leak information, but some Ninjutsu from Fusang, which we’re unaware of, is unpredictable. I’ve heard they have a Ninjutsu specifically for eavesdropping. Someone can prevent it at the Emperor’s end, but our conversations outside might be heard.”

”This is like having ears that hear for miles; it’s terrifying. I’d better keep my mouth shut,” Fo Lanying mimed shutting her mouth.

Jiang Yichun frowned slightly, faintly aware that things were not simple, and he was worried that his beloved Ruozhu was surely involved. He couldn’t help feeling uneasy, fearing for her.

When they arrived at the Posthouse, people inquired about the situation, and Bai Ruozhu simply said, ”Master Puru’s situation is fine. The Emperor hasn’t let me see the body yet, so perhaps he wants to think it over. Let’s just act like nothing happened and carry on with our duties.”

Fortunately, no one else pressed further, except Gao Zhou, who was worried about Master Puru’s safety. Bai Ruozhu could only say that the Fusang Royal Family seemed not to have the power to execute the Temple Abbot, which relieved Gao Zhou.

After returning to the room to rest with Jiang Yichun, Bai Ruozhu immediately pulled him into the Space and recounted everything that happened at Zhaoti Temple.

”You’re going to detoxify the Second Prince? What if someone tries to kill you?” Jiang Yichun frowned, ”I really don’t want you to get involved.”

Bai Ruozhu pursed her lips, ”I didn’t like the Second Prince to begin with, and I’m too lazy to intervene in such matters, but this involves Master Puru, and seeing that he is alive, I can’t pretend it’s not happening.”

As she spoke, she reached out to rub Jiang Yichun’s face and said with a playful smile, ”Alright, I do have some personal motives, to be honest.”

Jiang Yichun raised an eyebrow, ”What motives?”

Everyone must find it strange that the names of people on the Fusang side lately are mostly two syllables. Mouka considered that four-syllable names are hard to remember, and too many would be confusing. Therefore, men so far only use surnames, and women use given names. Of course, She Zongyi is special; after all, his surname is a single character.
