Chapter 2497: Chapter 2498: Sincerity in Cooperation

The astrologer sighed, speaking somewhat wistfully, ”You know I was born into a family of Yin Yang Masters, right? My parents and ancestors were all Yin Yang Masters.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, ”I know.”

The astrologer continued to speak.

”But there is a rumor that circulates within the astrologer family, saying that twins should not be born in the family as they would bring misfortune. So if twins do appear, the first-born is kept, and the second-born is...”

The astrologer’s voice trembled with difficulty, ”Drowned.”

Bai Ruozhu gasped, ”You’re saying my senior brother was the one who was drowned?”

The astrologer shook his head, ”No, I was the one who was drowned.”

”Ah?” Bai Ruozhu was completely taken aback by this twist...

”My brother was born first, so I was thrown into the river. But previously, the family had a pair of twin girls, and a kindhearted servant saved one of them, raising her in secret without causing any harm to the family. Therefore, the old servant, unable to bear it, secretly gave some silver to a farmer’s family to fish me out of the river and raised me as their own.”

The astrologer continued, ”Until we were three years old, the family held the initiation ceremony to open the path of Yin Yang for my brother. However, it was found that his body was special and couldn’t feel the Yin Yang Techniques, leaving the family without a successor. The servant who saved me felt compassion seeing the master’s sorrow, thus revealing my whereabouts. Consequently, when I was three, I was forcibly taken back home, underwent the initiation ceremony, and it happened that I could practice Yin Yang Techniques with great talent.”

Bai Ruozhu’s head was in a whirl, but she soon remembered when Ning Yu mentioned that the Heart Method of the Astrology Tower was peculiar and couldn’t be practiced by most people; his master had found him by luck.

Also, the National Master had a special body in the past and couldn’t practice his own family’s Heart Method. It seems that the National Master and Ning Yu both had a special kind of physique.

”At that time, I reunited with my brother. Although we hadn’t met before, there seemed to be an invisible bond between us, making us feel very close at our first meeting. I had just entered an unfamiliar illusory realm, and was too scared to sleep at night, but my brother kept protecting and comforting me.”

The astrologer’s eyes reddened as he spoke, ”Unfortunately, he went missing after a few days. I asked around every day, but either no one answered or they said he was sick and went to another courtyard to recuperate.”

”It wasn’t until I was six that I learned the patriarch minded that rumor, saying one of the twins had to go, so they took my brother away to be disposed of in the wild...”

Bai Ruozhu covered her mouth, not knowing that Ning Yu had such a tragic past. But since it happened when he was three, it was understandable that he couldn’t remember.

”But I know he must be alive; there is a bond between us, I can feel he’s still alive. I didn’t tell anyone but worked hard to practice Yin Yang Techniques, hoping that one day I could find him and bring him back to the family with honor, not allowing the astrologer family to believe in such rumors anymore!” The astrologer spoke with great determination, truly resolute in his decision.

”I think Ning Yu is really your brother. To think he’s from Fusang, him ending up in Fusang might just be fated by the heavens.” Bai Ruozhu said, a bit sentimentally.

”I wouldn’t be so sure.” The astrologer’s expression darkened, ”I inherited the name ’Astrologer’ early on. By the way, you probably don’t know that my family is called ’Astrologer’, and whoever inherits the patriarch position also takes the name ’Astrologer,’ losing their original name.”

He sighed and continued, ”Many people in Fusang have seen me; dignitaries invite me annually for family blessings. He might have returned to Fusang because some observant person noticed he looks exactly like me.”

Bai Ruozhu secretly pinched herself. Indeed, she had been misguided all along. The spy said the opponent had a daughter resembling Princess Diao Bin, so she pursued that lead from Diao Bin’s side, but the opponent was targeting Ning Yu, using Diao Bin as a cover to avoid suspicion.

”Unfortunately, the patriarch cursed us back in the day. I can foresee many things, but I can’t see anything related to him, as if I’d never find him in my lifetime,” the astrologer said.

”Wait, why would your patriarch curse you? He’s supposed to be your father, right?” Bai Ruozhu asked, puzzled.

The astrological color of hatred appeared in the astrologer’s eyes, ”Because I killed him, and he was unwilling to die, so he used his last breath and Qi Blood to cast the curse.”

Bai Ruozhu felt a weight in her heart; this astrologer was also ruthless. Yet that was truly his biological father.

The astrologer saw her thoughts and smiled bitterly, ”He killed my brother and my foster parents, claiming that their presence would never allow me to focus on the astrologer family. He was not worthy of being my father!”

”You can think of me as ruthless or cruel; I’m not afraid to admit it.”

”This...” Bai Ruozhu thought of her own father from a previous life and felt she could understand the astrologer’s actions.

”I have no other intention; I just hope to find my senior brother quickly. Since you’re his kin, we can join forces,” Bai Ruozhu said after some consideration.

The astrologer didn’t agree immediately but looked at Bai Ruozhu with some hope, asking, ”Is he called Ning Yu? Does he look just like me? Has he married and had children?”

”His name is indeed Ning Yu. I even mistook you for him before, thinking it was you not wanting to acknowledge us in front of She Zongyi. My senior brother hasn’t married yet, but he does have someone he cares about.” Bai Ruozhu responded.

The astrologer smiled, ”As long as he’s doing well. It’s just a pity I don’t know where he is now.”

”We will find him.” Bai Ruozhu paused, ”Since we are now like family, what’s the deal with your Yin Yang Rain?”

The astrologer stared intently at her, saying, ”Yin Yang Rain can attack the enemies I want to target. Additionally, Yin Yang Techniques primarily aim to capture ghosts and subdue demons. Any demon touched by the Yin Yang Rain will reveal its true form and suffer unbearable agony every night.”

What demon! Bai Ruozhu felt like cursing. How is her husband, Achun, a demon? Besides, Achun hadn’t been in agony every night.

The astrologer looked toward Bai Ruozhu’s room, ”I just find it strange that he doesn’t seem to suffer. Even if his demon power is strong, he shouldn’t be completely unaffected.”

”Have you been secretly observing him for two days?” Bai Ruozhu asked angrily.

The astrologer awkwardly rubbed his nose, ”I can continuously monitor the demon touched by the Yin Yang Rain. I didn’t know you were my brother’s junior sister; otherwise...”

Bai Ruozhu took a deep breath, ”My husband is not a demon. There’s a misunderstanding here. Can you undo the effect of the Yin Yang Rain?”

”I’ll remove it immediately to show my sincerity in cooperating with you all,” the astrologer said, then headed towards Bai Ruozhu’s room. Bai Ruozhu quickly followed, still not fully trusting this Yin Yang Master, afraid he might harm Achun.

The astrologer didn’t even open the door. Instead, he chanted a spell outside, then pulled out a charm and tossed it out.
