Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1986: Chapter 1985: The Truth from Decades Ago

”Whether others set you up or you set up others, you know full well yourself. Don’t pretend with me.” Seeing that Ma Linglong was still unrepentant, Ji Bao’s sympathy and reluctance faded away.

”Ji Bao!” Ma Linglong called out, ”I am your wife, how can you say this about me? It doesn’t matter if others don’t believe me, but how can you not believe me?”

Ji Bao sneered, ”You still remember that you’re my wife? Did you remember when you were messing around with others?”

Ma Linglong had never seen Ji Bao treat her like this, her heart became more flustered, and her tone softened.

”Husband, that Tian Chen was bribed, I really didn’t do anything to betray you. You treat me so well, how could I possibly betray you?”

Ji Bao inwardly sneered, did she really think he was so easily fooled?

Ma Linglong thought Ji Bao had softened and continued to say more nice things. Ji Bao sighed slightly, saying, ”Take care of your injuries, I’m leaving now.”

”Wait!” Ma Linglong panicked, ”You need to find a way to get me out.”

She struggled to get up, walked closer to Ji Bao, and lowered her voice to say, ”I know Han Zhiyong’s secret, help me find him, tell him if he doesn’t save me, this secret won’t stay hidden.”

”What secret?” Ji Bao’s brow furrowed even tighter.

”Han Zhiyong has an affair with my Main Hall elder’s concubine, the youngest illegitimate child of the elder is actually Han Zhiyong’s.” Ma Linglong whispered.

Ji Bao was stunned, for a long while, he suddenly burst out laughing.

”You find it funny too, right? In public, Han Zhiyong acts like a brother to my Main Hall elder, truly unexpected, right?” Ma Linglong also laughed softly.

Ji Bao’s laughter stopped abruptly, ”Ma Linglong, I’m laughing at you, how selfishly your heart is grown! My Main Hall elder cared for you so much, yet you use such things to gain favors for yourself, never thinking about his feelings. I couldn’t understand why you plotted against Ji An, now I get it.”

He said as he turned to leave, Ma Linglong shouted his name desperately behind him, he finally paused.

Ma Linglong showed a look of joy, she knew Ji Bao was just momentarily angry and would still be reluctant to leave her.

Unexpectedly, Ji Bao turned his head, saying calmly, ”I will personally submit a petition to the Emperor for divorce, no one else’s words will matter.”

This time he walked away briskly, no matter how Ma Linglong called, he never stopped.

Ma Linglong collapsed on the ground, hitting her whip wounds, gasping in pain, soon she began to cry out loud, speaking to herself as she cried, ”He said he liked me, catered to me in everything, so quickly changed, if he really liked me, wouldn’t he forgive everything I’ve done?”

She suddenly shook her head like crazy, ”No, no, he can’t leave me, it’s just anger for a moment, besides he will come back to me!”

Unfortunately, Ji Bao never went to see Ma Linglong again, even when Ma Linglong’s parents went to the Ji Family to cause trouble, they were driven away.

Soon afterward, Ji Bao submitted his petition to the court, this kind of matter the Emperor away on campaign meant it was decided by the Prime Minister’s office, the Prime Minister directly approved Ji Family’s divorce.

Bai Ruozhu had been in high spirits these days, just waiting for Ma Linglong to be exiled for hard labor outside the borders.

”Master, the investigation is complete.” Jianqi brought a secret report and walked in.

Bai Ruozhu took the secret report and read it, its contents did not surprise her too much, for she had already trusted Bai Guanghe in her heart.

Sure enough, as Bai Guanghe had said, Bai Yuanqing wasn’t dead at all, now living as an Old Master in a merchant family in Jiangnan, but upon detailed investigation, it wasn’t hard to find out he had married into the family.

Indeed as Bai Guanghe said, Bai Yuanqing was poor at academics, terribly jealous of Bai Guanghe who was a young scholar, some of the plots against Jiao Yunyun back then weren’t solely done by the concubine, he had intervened a few times.

The Commerce Association’s dark guard threatened Bai Yuanqing, and he confessed his original intentions.

Originally, he just wanted Bai Guanghe to suffer and lose face, as a result, when Jiao Yunyun gave birth, a powerful elder appeared to grab people, he didn’t know they were from the Jiuli Clan, thought it was Jiao Yunyun’s maternal family taking her and Jiao Ling back.

He brought Bai Yihong alone to live days, originally planning to nurture Bai Yihong and fiercely slap Bai Guanghe in the face in the future, eventually raising Bai Yihong to gain fame and then return to the Capital to get revenge on Bai Family. He didn’t expect to meet He Family’s daughter who came to Beiyu City for business with her father, she fell deeply in love with him, He Family had only this one daughter, thinking to recruit a son-in-law, meaning family’s estate equaled passing to the son-in-law. Bai Yuanqing originally didn’t want to return home, so he found a way to discard Bai Yihong as a burden, and followed the He Family father and daughter to Jiangnan.

Years passed, he never cared about the baby boy he had sent away back then, nor intended to tell Bai Guanghe he still had a son and a daughter alive, just comfortably settled as the He Family lord!

Bai Ruozhu almost wanted to crumple the letter after reading it, once they all thought Bai Yuanqing had helped Jiao Yunyun, in the end, died of tuberculosis, having only deep gratitude for him, never expecting he was the vilest and shameless scoundrel!

Thinking of this, Bai Ruozhu strode out of the yard to find Jiao Ling.

”Aunt, take a look at this, this is the information I’ve found.” Bai Ruozhu handed the letter to Jiao Ling.

Her father had forgiven Bai Guanghe, but Jiao Ling refused to forgive and forbade them from discussing her matter with Bai Guanghe.

After Jiao Ling finished reading, she asked in disbelief, ”If it’s all Bai Yuanqing’s fault, how did he treat my mother back then? Could such things also be instigated by Bai Yuanqing?”

Bai Ruozhu recounted Bai Guanghe’s explanation, although she felt Bai Guanghe’s handling back then was inappropriate, who hadn’t been young? Young people lack experience, making mistakes is inevitable.

”He’s already been tormented for decades, why not give him a chance, try forgiving him?” Bai Ruozhu said, ”Also, I think grandma still wants to see him.”

”Impossible! My mother hates him deeply!” Jiao Ling immediately protested.

”The deeper the love, the deeper the hate, grandma never let go because she still has him in her heart.” Bai Ruozhu said, feeling sorrowful for Jiao Yunyun, Bai Guanghe had later remarried with several children, while Jiao Yunyun suffered all her life, that’s perhaps the difference between men and women.

Jiao Ling remained silent for a long time, finally she sighed softly, saying, ”Give me some time, let me think about it.”

Bai Ruozhu did not press further, if aunt could resolve her grudge, it would also ease Bai Ruozhu, but whether to recognize Bai Guanghe should be her own decision.

The following days, Ma Linglong’s parents caused a disturbance at the Bai Family’s door, Bai Ruozhu didn’t even appear. After the public hall’s interrogation that day, Ma Linglong’s unfaithfulness and ruthlessness spread throughout Beiyu City, probably no one in Beiyu City didn’t know she had a black mole on her left chest. Ma Family causing a ruckus, would only bring embarrassment upon themselves.
