Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1970: Chapter 1969: No Status

In the afternoon, Jiang Yichun returned from outside and called Little Dengdeng over, saying, ”Son, I’m leaving early tomorrow. You’re the man of the house now, so I’m entrusting your mother and your two younger brothers to you.”

Little Dengdeng nodded seriously, ”Don’t worry, Dad, I’ll take good care of Mom and my brothers.”

Jiang Yichun patted his son’s head, ”And, be wary of the stepfather!”

”No other men are allowed near Mom!” Little Dengdeng shouted out as if he were chanting a slogan.

Bai Ruozhu had just reached the door and nearly stumbled when she heard the childish voice.

What was all this? Achun was such an unreliable father, teaching the child such nonsense at such a young age.

Jiang Yichun noticed Bai Ruozhu’s arrival, turned around, and smiled at her broadly. Bai Ruozhu gave him a fierce glare and walked into the room, saying, ”Do I make you that uneasy? Even after having three children, you still don’t trust me?”

”No, no! I trust you completely. I’m just worried that someone might have bad intentions and harass you relentlessly.” Jiang Yichun quickly explained. He could already feel the chilly aura emanating from his little daughter.

Little Dengdeng covered his mouth, snickering quietly. Yesterday, a little friend of his said the father was the most powerful in their family, but Little Dengdeng confidently said, ”My mom is the most powerful in my family.”

The little friend unbelievingly said, ”Your mom is a woman; how can she be more powerful than your dad?”

With pride, Little Dengdeng said, ”Every time my mom glares, my dad immediately wilts. If she’s not powerful, what is she?”

The little friend found it hard to believe, felt something was off, but couldn’t pinpoint what it was. He just assumed Dengdeng’s family was different.

At this moment, Dengdeng confirmed his point again. Sure enough, as soon as Mom glared, Dad withered.

”I’m raising three kids; who else would be interested in pestering me? You’re a man too; would you want to help raise someone else’s kids?” Bai Ruozhu, hands on her hips, continued to glare at Jiang Yichun, determined to have a good talk with him today. How could he not trust her, treating her like some kind of woman?

Jiang Yichun awkwardly scratched his nose, ”It’s just that you’re too wonderful. I’m a little worried. I don’t care about anyone else; my heart is only for you.”

As he spoke, his voice softened, and his face turned slightly red.

Little Dengdeng, laughing so much his face hurt, received a stern look from his dad, quickly pinched his own face, and tried hard not to laugh, but it was quite difficult to hold back.

Bengbeng and Tiaotiao, who understood nothing, looked from one to the other, and suddenly Bengbeng giggled aloud.

This was the first time Bengbeng laughed out loud, immediately catching Bai Ruozhu’s attention, but over here, Jiang Yichun was clearly displeased. His little boys dared to laugh at him together; was there no longer a place for him in this family?

”Why is our Bengbeng so happy?” Bai Ruozhu picked up Bengbeng and kissed his cheek. She had been breastfeeding Bengbeng properly these days, and Bengbeng had gained weight, making the nurse who fed Bengbeng earlier quite embarrassed.

Bai Ruozhu had no intention of blaming the nurse. She had the space artifact, and her body was better than average, giving her an advantage.

”Mom, why did Second Brother laugh, but Third Brother didn’t?” Little Dengdeng curiously asked.

Little Tiaotiao, suddenly finding everyone’s attention on him, pouted and started crying.

Bai Ruozhu had to put Bengbeng down and pick up Tiaotiao, and Tiaotiao started laughing again.

This amused Bai Ruozhu greatly; though Tiaotiao seemed frail at birth, he was clever, already knowing how to vie for attention.

This little distraction made Bai Ruozhu forget to continue questioning Jiang Yichun. Jiang Yichun secretly sighed in relief, more determined that his secret communications with Dengdeng should remain private.

Dinner was a family affair, with Bai Yihong and Lin Pinger repeatedly reminding Jiang Yichun to be careful out there, while Jiao Ling and Fen Jiu added their two cents. Bai Zepei finally said, ”Take care of yourself, or I won’t mind if my little sister remarries.”

Jiang Yichun’s face twisted with fury, wondering if he still had any standing in this family. Ruozhu had said if something happened to him, she’d have the children call another man ’Dad’, Dengdeng talked about a stepfather, and now even Bai Zepei made such a remark. Were they trying to infuriate him?

”Zepei, what are you saying? Can’t you just let Yichun have peace of mind when going to the battlefield?” Bai Yihong complained.

Bai Zepei responded with a hum and fell silent, feeling he had said all that needed to be said anyway.

Bai Ruozhu hid and snickered on the side; though her brother didn’t say much, he was deadly accurate with his words.

After dinner, back in their room, Jiang Yichun planned to have a word with his snickering little woman, but Little Dengdeng clung to him persistently.

”Dad, I can’t bear to part with you. I want to sleep with you tonight.” Little Dengdeng said in a spoiled voice.

Jiang Yichun’s face darkened. It was their last night together, and he wanted to chat properly with his dear wife. Wasn’t Dengdeng being a bit of a bother?

”Be a good boy, you’re too big now to sleep with Dad and Mom.” Jiang Yichun said sternly.

”Wah wah wah, I’m only three years old. Just this once, please?” Little Dengdeng cried and hugged his dad’s neck tightly, refusing to let go.

Bai Ruozhu gave Yichun a glance, ”Let it be; the child can’t bear to part with you either.”

Jiang Yichun’s heart softened long ago, but he was still frustrated, yet he finally nodded in agreement.

The family of three lay in bed, and Little Dengdeng quickly fell asleep.

Listening to his son’s steady breathing, Jiang Yichun’s eyes glowed, and he gently patted his wife’s waist.

”Ruozhu, are you asleep?” he whispered.

There was no way Bai Ruozhu could sleep soundly. He was leaving tomorrow, and she couldn’t bear it, so how could she just fall asleep like that?

”No,” she softly replied.

His hand slowly moved towards her chest, and Bai Ruozhu smacked it away, whispering, ”Behave yourself, Dengdeng’s still here.”

”Let’s go to the ear room next door and talk. I still have so much to discuss with you.” he said, getting up and, not waiting for her consent, suddenly picked her up in his arms and quickly carried her to the ear room.

Bai Ruozhu’s face turned red with heat. She cast him an annoyed glance, but because her cheeks were flushed, the look was devoid of any menace, instead exuding a lazy charm that made him feel even more impassioned and warm all over.

”Ruozhu, without seeing you for so long, how will I manage alone?” he hugged her tightly and said in a hoarse voice.

Bai Ruozhu widened her eyes, pointed her slender finger at him, and said, ”I’m warning you, no matter how much you need it, you’re not allowed to touch other women. Otherwise, don’t come back to see me. I don’t want a second-hand man!”

He took her finger in his mouth, his agile tongue wrapping around it.

”Silly girl, I won’t touch other women. I swear I’ll stay loyal to you. Wouldn’t you like to reward me?” he said and then kissed her passionately, over and over, raising the temperature inside the room...
