Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1962: Chapter 1961: Bridal Chamber

Bai Zepei found an opportunity to get close to Bai Ruozhu and said softly, ”Father has already forgiven him in his heart, why not take this chance to give him an opportunity?”

The ”him” he referred to was, of course, Bai Guanghe. Bai Ruozhu rolled her eyes at him, ”Opportunity? I think it’s a test, right? Second Brother, you’re becoming more and more immature.”

Bai Zepei smiled wryly, ”I know what I’m doing, but I didn’t expect Elder Su to step in.”

”He protects his own.” Bai Ruozhu said, feeling a little happy inside. Elder Su treating them as his own felt like how an elder at home would stand by them, warming her heart.

She was still worried about her second brother and handed him a sobering pill, afraid he might stumble after just a few steps.

Meanwhile, Bai Yixiao went out and winked at a servant, saying, ”Take us to a quiet place.”

The servant understood immediately, leading the two men ahead, while Jianqi, standing guard outside, frowned, moved quickly, and rushed in front of them.

Bai Yixiao just saw a flash, and suddenly, he couldn’t hear the noisy voices of Bai Yibo and Saburo, his eyes fixed in amazement. Was this the legendary Acupoint Sealing?

Jianqi coolly returned to his previous position as if he hadn’t done anything.

Bai Yibo and Saburo opened their mouths to shout wildly, but no sound came out.

”I’ve wanted to give them a beating for a long time, today is a good opportunity.” Bai Yixing grinned at his elder brother, and Bai Yixiao gave him an approving nod. Soon, the brothers found a secluded spot and gave Bai Yibo and his father a good thrashing.

Bai Yibo and his father, rendered mute, couldn’t cry for mercy, and finally got spared after kneeling and desperately kowtowing. But the guards of the residence quickly detained them to prevent them from going out and spreading rumors about the Bai Family, which would ruin the good mood of the second young master’s wedding.

Bai Ruozhu was informed of the situation by the maid and chuckled to herself. Not just their family, but everyone in the clan disliked Bai Yibo and his father. To act like them, that’s truly not easy.

It’s said that the upper beam is not straight, causing the lower beam to be crooked. How could Bai Fu’s father have the insight to educate his son, yet Bai Fu still turned out wayward? Bai Ruozhu thought thoroughly and realized it was because many people saw education as a stepping stone, overly focusing on children who studied and failing to be fair to all their children.

She now had three sons and must treat them fairly in the future. She must not become a biased mother.

Her Ah Chun couldn’t be a biased father either!

As she thought this, she glanced towards Jiang Yichun and saw Tu Lie and his son Tu Bai toasting Jiang Yichun. When they saw her, Tu Lie amicably waved her over to talk.

Bai Ruozhu walked over with a smile and said, ”I can’t drink, you all can go ahead.”

”I’m not calling you to drink; we need to thank you and Xiaojiang. Because of that Kong Hefeng, we haven’t had the chance to come and express our gratitude, and we feel really sorry.” Tu Lie said politely, his demeanor full of gratitude. Bai Ruozhu noticed his temples had grayed significantly, and his back wasn’t as straight as it once was.

The Tu family had been through many trials, which greatly impacted Tu Lie, making him age considerably. Fortunately, Tu Bai could stand up again, and Tu Ying had returned home.

”Uncle Tu, there’s no need for such formality between our two families who’ve known each other for so long, right?” Bai Ruozhu said with a smile, then poured a cup of tea, ”I’ll use tea instead of wine to toast your family’s reunion.”

”Good, good, this cup must be finished!” Tu Lie happily downed the tea in one go.

Suddenly, the sound of fighting and someone shouting curses came from outside.

Bai Ruozhu frowned slightly. Bai Yibo and his father didn’t have the capability to fight with the family’s guards, and there were sounds of clashing weapons. Could they be assassins?

Would anyone be so bold as to attempt an assassination in broad daylight?

Her first thought was of Huang Rou’s family, and she hurriedly walked out, with Jiang Yichun excusing himself to Tu Lie and following her.

”Master, it’s Miss Tu’s master causing trouble,” Jianqi reported quickly.

”Speak of the devil, he’s here to make trouble. Just drive him out.” Bai Ruozhu said coldly. That Kong Hefeng was really asking for death; she didn’t want to tolerate him anymore.

Behind them came hurried footsteps, and Tu Lie’s loud voice rang out, ”Why is it him? It seems to have caused you trouble; let me handle this.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded. After all, as Tu Ying’s master, it wouldn’t be good if she went too hard on him.

Some of the guests, hearing the commotion, curiously looked outside, so Bai Ruozhu went in with a smile, saying, ”Someone got a bit drunk and was sword dancing, causing some misunderstandings. Please don’t mind it, let’s continue.”

The people laughed and were not inclined to pursue who it was.

Bai Ruozhu quickly found an excuse to slip away. If someone really did ask her, she had just come up with this excuse on the spot, as she didn’t want too many people knowing about Tu Ying’s master, which would negatively affect Tu Ying’s reputation.

After a while, Jianqi reported back, saying that Tu Lie went to persuade Kong Hefeng, who insisted on causing trouble. Tu Lie ordered his subordinates to surround Kong Hefeng, arrest him, and take him back.

Bai Ruozhu chuckled, ”Does Kong Hefeng really think he’s some unparalleled being? Why do Jianghu people generally shy away from opposing the Imperial Court? It’s simply because they cannot compete against the overwhelming numbers. Not to mention stealth attacks, even setting up a net can catch them.”

”Master, you’re wise. We really did use a net to catch him,” Jianqi finally showed a smile.

Bai Ruozhu covered her mouth and laughed, ”Looks like Uncle Tu was well-prepared for him.”

Kong Hefeng was captured by Tu Lie and taken back to the Tu Residence. The rest of the wine feast was handled by Tu Bai. As for how Kong Hefeng was dealt with after returning to the Tu family, Bai Ruozhu didn’t inquire, as long as Kong Hefeng didn’t come to provoke her, she really didn’t want to think of such a person.

...

The guests only dispersed late at night. Bai Zepei was pushed into the bridal chamber, and as he sat by the bed, Si Yihuan’s body shook, feeling extremely nervous.

He would lift the veil later. Would he think she’s unattractive?

The makeup she wore in the morning was so hideous; would it scare him?

Would he act like in the drawings her mother secretly gave her as a keepsake chest later on?

Si Yihuan’s heart was pounding hard, squeezing the handkerchief into a ball.

Suddenly, with a thud, the bed beside her sank as Bai Zepei collapsed onto the bed.

Si Yihuan was startled but, seeing no reaction from him for a long while, cautiously lifted the edge of the veil to peek, only to find him dead drunk, fast asleep!

She recalled what the maid said about what had happened at the feast, where Ma Jinan kept pressing him to drink, which had made him drink a lot, and it was no wonder he was so drunk.

She stood up, took off her veil, removed the heavy headdress with a quick motion, and turned to lift Bai Zepei’s legs that were still hanging off the bed.

It was then that she noticed there were many dried dates, peanuts, walnuts, and dried longans on the bed. Wouldn’t it be uncomfortable for him to lie on them like that?
