Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1966: Chapter 1965: Holy Edict, Sudden Change

Little Dengdeng’s eyes lit up, ”Great!”

Father and son holding hands went straight to the garden, as if the ”stepfather” incident had never occurred.

Bai Ruozhu felt a bit awkward facing Nanny Zhang and quickly escaped to see Bengbeng and Tiaotiao, only to find them sleeping soundly, so she wandered off to the garden without much interest.

”Do you really think a stepmother will be nice to that little girl? It’s just a show at the start. How could she truly care if it’s not her own child?” Jiang Yichun’s voice drifted from afar.

Bai Ruozhu’s mouth twitched; why are they still talking about this?

Little Dengdeng frowned, ”Ah? But isn’t Sister Xiaotao really pitiful? Her stepmother won’t hit her, will she?”

Jiang Yichun coughed lightly, ”She’s so grown up now, she probably won’t. But if it’s a younger child, that’s another story. The stepmother is a woman and doesn’t have much strength; if it’s a stepfather, then it becomes dangerous.”

He patted his son’s little head and gritted his teeth,”If you want a stepfather, and he really tricks your mother into his hands, soon he’ll settle you and your two brothers, you’re young and can’t beat him, wouldn’t you be bullied?”

Bai Ruozhu broke into a cold sweat; the intention was clear.

”Mom is so strong, and I’m clever; he’d have to fawn over me. So, dad, are you scared?” Little Dengdeng obviously wasn’t falling for it.

Jiang Yichun looked embarrassed, ”Is there any kid who talks about a stepfather in front of their own dad? Dad will treat your mom well, and you should take care of her too, don’t let any random guy near your mom. Aren’t you the one who likes dad the most?”

”Alright, since you are my real dad, I’ll agree to you.” The little rascal said seriously.

Jiang Yichun became happy, embraced his son and kissed him, ”I’ll give you contact information, in case of anything, you can write to dad.”

”I only know how to draw!” Little Dengdeng poked his dad’s face with his finger; he didn’t know how to write. His dad forgot even this? Has he gotten stupid?

Jiang Yichun broke into a cold sweat; the son was too sharp, subconsciously, he didn’t treat him as a little kid and forgot about his inability to write.

”Then draw, or ask Nanny Zhang to write for you, but don’t tell your mom; this is a secret between us men.” Jiang Yichun said.

”Alright, we’ve agreed then.” Little Dengdeng extended his pinky and hooked it with his dad’s.

However, Jiang Yichun didn’t know that soon after, he would receive a letter from Dengdeng. Faced with those stream-of-consciousness illustrations, he couldn’t make out what they meant. In his reply, he asked Dengdeng to have Nanny Zhang write next time, yet he continued to receive only drawings from his son, suspecting that his reply went completely misunderstood by Little Dengdeng.

Actually, the communication between Little Dengdeng and his dad was known to Bai Ruozhu from the start; Bai Ruozhu deliberately didn’t help, since they claimed it was a secret between men. Humph, daring to exclude her, the woman, let father and son guess together.

Of course, that was a matter for later.

Finally, night came, and Jiang Yichun couldn’t wait to enjoy his wife, then did so a couple more times.

At night, in the room, they had to call it a day, Bai Ruozhu lethargically let him wash her.

Afterward, he began to clean himself while Bai Ruozhu lay on the bed, her eyes enticingly watched him, figuring she needed to admire the sexy V-line more, otherwise soon it wouldn’t be visible.

Thinking of this, Bai Ruozhu felt a bit melancholy, not knowing when this battle would end.

”What are you looking at? Isn’t your husband’s figure quite nice?” He threw her a flirty glance while speaking.

”Humph, if your subordinates know that you’re so cool in front of them but so shameless and arrogant behind, what do you think they’d think?” Bai Ruozhu said with a mischievous smile.

Jiang Yichun laughed, ”What could they think? Isn’t this the essence of being a man?”

Bai Ruozhu was left speechless by his words; fine, still, men understand men, as the opposite gender, she decided not to argue with him.

At this moment, her gaze fell on his elbows and hip bones and such.

Only then did she notice those places were chafed into calluses, they weren’t there before, definitely from the armor.

She slowly sat up, reached out and touched them, expressing her concern, ”Won’t the armor chafe and hurt you? Why didn’t you say anything? You don’t need to wear it all the time when you’re not home.”

Jiang Yichun pulled her into his embrace, ”Stop moving or I won’t spare you, pleading won’t be enough!”

Bai Ruozhu immediately tucked herself in and dared not move, knowing just how tired she was; one more round and she’d faint from exhaustion.

He quickly finished washing himself, hugged her, and went back to bed, ”It’s okay, a man without scars isn’t a man, and it’s just a little callus.”

Bai Ruozhu muttered a soft ”mm”, her heart aching as she touched his hip bone’s callus again, thinking she ought to make some medicine for him tomorrow.

”At least now I’m fine already, and you can rest assured a lot more.” He slid his arm under her head, drawing them closer.

Thinking of that, Bai Ruozhu felt a bit relieved, plus her body was so tired, she quickly breathed evenly and fell into sleep.

Jiang Yichun softly kissed her forehead and closed his eyes too.

Early next morning, Jiang Yichun got up refreshed, as if he hadn’t engaged in physical activity the night before, whereas Bai Ruozhu looked still groggy and said she wanted to sleep more.

Jiang Yichun laughed as he ruffled her bedhead, ”Sleep some more, I’ll be back for dinner tonight.”

Bai Ruozhu slept a bit longer and when she awoke, Min Xiang excitedly said, ”Miss, the Holy Edict just arrived from the palace.”

”Ah?” Bai Ruozhu hurried to get up, ”What edict?”

”Said it’s to appoint Second Master to inspect several cities in the Southwest soon, no need to set off with the army!” Min Xiang said cheerfully, the Residence had been quite troubled about Second Master following the expedition.

Bai Ruozhu, having just woken up, felt a bit fuzzy-headed, took her a while to process. Min Xiang saw her sitting there dumbly and felt a jump in her heart, uh-oh, she shouldn’t have been so quick-tongued; the edict didn’t mention stopping the brother-in-law from heading to war, Miss must be quite upset.

”What’s Second Brother’s take?” Bai Ruozhu came around and asked.

”Second Master went to the palace.” Min Xiang replied, careful not to show too much excitement.

Bai Ruozhu picked up the pace, got washed and went to the front yard, found Second Brother had returned from the palace.

”Second Brother, the edict is out, a ruler’s word is heirless.” Bai Ruozhu advised him in a low voice seeing his somber expression.

Bai Zepei sighed, ”It was Elder Su’s doing.”

Bai Ruozhu figured out while on her way, inspections like this usually occur during peaceful times to avoid rebellious subjects stirring up trouble. How could it be when the army is about to attack the Capital City, they still split people for inspections? And moreover to the Southwest where the Jiuli Clan resides?

The Jiuli Clan is mysterious, no one knows their exact location, but the fact they hail from the Southwest is almost universally known.

”I’m curious how he convinced the emperor.” Bai Ruozhu felt even more fondness towards Elder Su.
