Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1974: Chapter 1973: Framing Others with False Charges

Han Zhiyong once again showed displeasure, Ma Linglong was simply too thoughtless.

He had no choice but to smile and say, ”Lord Bai is magnanimous, please don’t bother with an ignorant woman. Lady Ji might have spoken indiscreetly because she was overly worried about her younger sister. The immediate priority is to treat Miss Ji; what do you think about the compensation matter?”

Bai Ruozhu was not angry either, glanced at Ji An and said, ”All the tuition fees will be refunded, the rest Miss Ji can decide for herself.”

Ma Linglong was about to speak again, but Bai Ruozhu glared fiercely at her, ”I want to compensate her, not you. If you say another word, I’ll have you dragged out and your mouth slapped twenty times!”

Han Zhiyong covertly signaled to Ma Linglong. If Bai Ruozhu insisted on the punishment, Ma Linglong would just have to endure it today and then petition the government office for redress, escalating it further. But why suffer that hardship?

Ma Linglong gritted her teeth and had to keep her mouth shut.

Ji An timidly said, ”Maybe it will get better in a few days, it, it is not necessary...”

”Don’t be afraid of her, the compensation was ordered by Master Han; she wouldn’t dare not comply!” Ma Linglong glared angrily at Ji An; this concubine-born sister-in-law was too spineless.

”How about this, I will compensate you a hundred taels for medical expenses, how does that sound?” Bai Ruozhu generously said.

Ji An was a bit stunned, then hesitantly said, ”Alright, sorry about this.”

Bai Ruozhu gestured to the maid to give her a silver banknote. Seeing the matter resolved, Han Zhiyong extended his hand towards Bai Ruozhu, ”Lord Bai, please follow me, this place needs to be sealed with a seal.”

Nanny Xin displayed a look of shame, ”Master, this...”

”It’s okay, let’s get out.” Bai Ruozhu signaled to the Xin family, and master and servants left together.

Quickly, an officer sealed the door. The other people were unwilling to act, so it was an unfamiliar officer who sealed it.

The onlookers gestured and discussed the matter. Soon Han Zhiyong left with his men, and Ma Linglong also smugly said to Bai Ruozhu, ”Aren’t you arrogant? Let’s see how long you can stay that way.”

”I say the same to you; better watch out.” Bai Ruozhu said with a smile.

”Hmph, you’re just stubborn; I bet you do care.” She finished by glaring at Ji An, ”Let’s go.”

Ji An looked back at Bai Ruozhu apologetically, and Bai Ruozhu smiled, pointing at her own face, giving her a reminder. Who knew if this girl understood it.

Ji An was soon dragged into the horse carriage by Ma Linglong. After sitting down, her mind was in turmoil, wondering if Bai Ruozhu meant her face couldn’t recover.

She was terribly afraid and vaguely suspected that Ma Linglong was behind it, feeling quite guilty towards Bai Ruozhu, but she dared not offend Ma Linglong. After all, she was just a minor concubine-born girl.

Outside the School for Brides, the Xin family displayed anger, Xin Quji clenched his fist and said, ”Master, that doctor must be problematic; they’re simply too much!”

”It’s alright, let them revel for a few days, and then they’ll take a hard fall.” Bai Ruozhu’s lips curled slightly, like a black mandala blooming, making Xin Quji shiver. He had worried that his master might be bullied. Now it seemed only she did the bullying.

”You inform the other students to say classes are temporarily suspended for five days, I’ll give them an explanation. If someone insists on not continuing, refund their money.” Bai Ruozhu said.

”How should we issue refunds? We can’t refund everything, can we? Many have almost finished half their classes.” Nanny Xin asked.

Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment, ”Calculate it by month; refund as much as possible. Forced participation won’t yield good fruits; don’t compel those who don’t want to attend.”

Nanny Xin bowed to Bai Ruozhu, ”Master, this matter is my fault, please punish me.”

Bai Ruozhu helped her up, saying, ”Ma Linglong is targeting me; it’s not your fault. The incident happened outside the school anyway; it would be hard to prevent. Do not blame yourself; I’ll handle it.”

”Understood.” Despite this, Nanny Xin couldn’t hide her guilt.

Bai Ruozhu gave them a few more instructions, intending to leave by horse carriage when a woman hurried over with her daughter in tow.

”Nanny Xin, what’s going on with the school closure? I came as soon as I heard; what happened?” The woman was loud, her inquiries stopping those about to leave to wait for Nanny Xin’s response.

Nanny Xin first returned the courtesy respectfully; her behavior was filled with dignity, making the hurried woman pause, internally cursing her rashness, calming down gradually.

”Madam Zhao, if you want to find fault, accusations are never lacking. The school will be suspended for five days; I apologize for the inconvenience.” Nanny Xin replied confidently and succinctly.

This piqued Madam Zhao’s curiosity, ”Rumors say someone had a rash after applying your cosmetic powder, claiming your products have issues. But my daughter Zhaoge and I have been using them without problem, finding the skin only smoother?”

Nanny Xin shook her head with a wry smile, ”If you want to find fault, accusations are never lacking.”

Repeating the same phrase twice, the first was mere explanation, lacking persuasion, but the second linked to Madam Zhao’s words, carried more credence.

Madam Zhao and her daughter Zhao Ge showed indignation, but they couldn’t help and wouldn’t want to trouble themselves anyway.

”But my daughter’s wedding is soon; she can’t miss classes!” exclaimed Madam Zhao in urgency.

”I’m truly sorry.” Nanny Xin replied with a deep bow.

”Sorry doesn’t help; my daughter can’t marry without proper learning. How will she win her in-laws’ favor?” Madam Zhao insisted, demanding a solution.

Bai Ruozhu thought for a while and approached, saying, ”Nanny Xin, arrange for someone to teach Miss Zhao at Zhao Residence these days. Sorry for the trouble.”

Madam Zhao showed excitement, ”So the lessons won’t be delayed?” Seeing Bai Ruozhu nod, she explained, ”We heard about this place late as it is. I just want my daughter to stand out more, ensuring future marital bliss; please understand me as a mother.”

Bai Ruozhu smiled, ”I understand, so Nanny Xin will accompany you now.”

Nanny Xin bowed, ”Yes.”

Bai Ruozhu, seeing things settled, bade farewell to Madam Zhao, taking her maid and boarding the horse carriage.

Madam Zhao and Zhao Ge watched Bai Ruozhu leave, unable to resist praising, ”Lord Bai truly has an extraordinary demeanor, a role model for us women.”

Zhao Ge’s eyes sparkled with admiration, ”Mother, let’s hurry home to study; I’m far from ready.”

Not long after Bai Ruozhu returned to the Residence, Jianqi appeared with someone in tow.

”Master, you were right; this guy was packed and ready to leave Beiyu City.” Jianqi said, kicking the person onto the ground; it was the doctor Tian Chen, whom Han Zhiyong had brought earlier.
