Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

A monk?

Looking at the pagoda outside, could it be a temple?

The people of Myanmar believed in Buddhism. Buddhism was the national religion. Some Burmese people even worshiped monks to show their piety. Could it be that this mountain village was a temple?

Was it because a drug lord had come to the temple?

The monk’s appearance made Ye Jian lose her train of thought for a few seconds.

However, the monk that walked over didn’t act like a monk. Even his face was very fierce. Ye Jian, who had been silently observing, immediately realized that she might have met a fake monk. Would a real monk have a pistol on his waist?

How could a monk know how to hold a gun?

There was no information about fake monks in the information Captain Deng provided.

The monk in the yellow robe looked at Mozhi. He didn’t know him, but he didn’t ask about his identity. Instead, he glanced at the driver and frowned as he asked a few questions in the local language.

The driver lowered his head slightly. He wasn’t as cold as he was two days ago in the small village. He lowered his posture and replied. Ye Jian noticed that after the driver said a few words, he looked at Mozhi and said a few more words. Only then did the fake monk relax.

With the driver’s introduction, the fake monk started talking to Mozhi.

Toward the end, Mozhi pushed Ye Jian, who had her head lowered and didn’t dare to pull any tricks, in front of the monk. Mozhi started to suck up to the monk.

”She’s a beautiful Chinese girl. There’s nothing wrong with her. Nothing will happen even if she dies…”

He said many things, and the fake monk kept listening. However, from time to time, he would look at the driver from the corner of his eyes. It was only when the driver nodded slightly that a faint smile appeared on his fierce face.

Mozhi heaved a sigh of relief when he saw the fake monk smile. Ye Jian, who was pushed in front of the three of them, continued lowering her head. Her trembling shoulders allowed everyone to see that she was afraid—very, very afraid.

The fake monk and Mozhi had a short conversation. Due to the language barrier, Ye Jian couldn’t understand what they were saying. She was even more eager to learn the Burmese language.

After the two of them ended their conversation, Ye Jian, who was pushed away, saw the driver take off his denim cap that he hadn’t taken off for a few days. She saw that the driver had the same bald head as the fake monk, but the roots of his hair were green and black.

The driver… also used the identity of a monk as a cover outside?

Ye Jian’s gaze darkened as she entered the mountain stronghold that was guarded by sentries and guns. Just as she had guessed, the mountain stronghold was indeed a temple built deep in the mountains for the villagers to worship.

The temple wasn’t a real temple. The monks guarding the temple weren’t real monks either. Besides the fact that the pagoda was a real one, everything else was just a disguise for drug dealers.

Ye Jian was dragged out and locked up alone. Mozhi left with the fake monk and didn’t appear until dawn the next day.

Two days later, Ye Jian, who was locked up, seemed to have been forgotten. Other than to send over a bowl of water and a pancake, no one else appeared.

On the third day, someone sent water and biscuits. Then, they disappeared for two consecutive days. It could be seen that they didn’t want to give Ye Jian too much food and water to prevent her from having the strength to escape.

On the seventh day, a bowl of water and a pancake were sent to her on time. On the eighth day, she was hungry again. For eight consecutive days, Ye Jian’s range of activity was only in the small room where she was locked up. During the day, there was sunlight to accompany her. At night, there were night insects chirping. It was so quiet that she seemed to be the only one in the entire village.

At around 10:00 pm on the eighth day, Ye Jian, who had become much thinner due to hunger, heard the sound of countless motors. The quiet village instantly became lively. Torches lit up the pitch-black night. Even on her side, she could vaguely see the flames.
