Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

It was not until she stood here that Ye Jian truly understood Captain Deng’s good intentions and why they were so strict when choosing the most suitable undercover agent.

She was only standing at the periphery of the mountain village that was only tainted by a little darkness. She knew that this was just the tip of the iceberg.

When they walked into the small village, they saw children running happily. When the children saw people coming over, their first reaction was not to avoid them. Instead, they made a ’pistol’ gesture with their hands and imitated a gun battle with the three people who entered the village.

These were all children’s games. The adults were used to it.

A 25-year-old man walked over barefooted. He was half-naked and only had a horizontal apron around his waist.

When he passed by the children, he raised his hand and pushed the head of one of them. He said in the local language, ”Useless brats, do you dare to use a real gun?”

”Give us real guns, give us real guns!”

The few children circled around the young man. One of them hugged his leg and begged him to give them real guns. The young man smiled and kicked the children who were arguing with him down. The children didn’t cry from the kick. They got up and grabbed two handfuls of soil to throw at the young man. All of them laughed before leaving.

This was the periphery of the Golden Triangle. Cars could enter the mountain village quite smoothly. This mountain village was also the first village they had to go through to enter the core area of the Golden Triangle.

Ye Jian lowered her head as she got down from the car. From the corner of her eyes, she could see everything around her.

The young man walked in front of the three people who had just entered the village. He sized up Ye Jian before saying to the two people who kidnapped Ye Jian, ”New goods? What’s her background?”

”She came out to work in the mountains and forests of China. She was kidnapped and sold to the kidnappers in Yun Province. In the end, the Burmese police suddenly came and the kidnappers hurriedly escaped with a few goods but met with the Burmese police halfway. They lost a few goods, and one of them ran to our town.”

The kidnappers were in charge of the largest group of women traffickers at the border of the three countries. The leader was the middle-aged woman who came to fetch Ye Jian that day. She was known as the kidnapper by the people in Myanmar.

”Are you sure there’s no problem?” the young man asked again.

In exchange, one of the Burmese men, who knew how to talk in Mandarin and was the one who coaxed Ye Jian into the car, said, ”We watched her for six days and investigated her for four days. She’s clean. No one will go looking for her.”

They were already deep in the mountains and forests. There were few people around. Even if someone passed by occasionally and saw white bones in the forest, they wouldn’t be surprised. They wouldn’t call the police and cause trouble for themselves.

That was why the man who could speak Mandarin was so certain.

The other man, who didn’t speak Mandarin and communicated in the local language of Myanmar, pointed at the wooden house not far ahead and said a few words coldly. The young man who received the two of them turned his body to make way for them, indicating that they should lock Ye Jian up first.

They had been on the road for four days. They had already finished everything they could eat. The two of them needed to prepare food that could fill their stomachs for the next three days. Then, they would fill the car with fuel and reserve two barrels of fuel for the road before driving away.

Ye Jian, who had the scimitar pressed against her back, was pushed twice again. The man who could speak Mandarin had an appearance that was no different from a Chinese but was a Burmese. He threatened her, ”Don’t jump around. Be careful of the scimitar in my hand. It’ll cut off your head easily. If that happens, the children will kick it around like a football.

”Do you see that? The football they’re playing with now, it’s a human skull.”
