I Just Started College, How Could I Become a Part-Time Papa?!

Chapter 95: Chapter 74: I Only Hope to Be Best Friends With You

Song Jianye slipped back into the hotel room, two Overlord teas in hand, and shot Zhao Lin a guilty look.

”Auntie...”

Zhao Lin glanced at her. ”Is your stomach ache gone?”

”It’s not hurting anymore...”

Zhao Lin shot Song Jianye a dirty look.

’You’re not in pain anymore, but I sure am!’

”Where are you two going?!”

After stealing a glance at Chen Yuan, Song Jianye whispered, ”I... I don’t know.”

”Do you have enough money?”

”It’s enough. I still have some of my own.”

Zhao Lin wanted to say more, but the more she thought about it, the more furious she became.

”Go on, just go. Old Zhang, you can drive them.”

”No, no, that’s not necessary. We can go by ourselves.”

Song Jianye quietly turned to Chen Yuan. ”Let’s go.”

”Um...”

Chen Yuan stood up. ”Auntie, Uncle Zhang, Sister Jing, we’ll be going now...”

Zhao Lin said nothing. Uncle Zhang smiled and nodded. ”Be safe. If you can’t get a cab on your way back, give me a call ahead of time.”

”Got it.”

The two of them left, and Zhao Lin’s anger flared up.

”Would you look at her? I tell her to go and she just leaves! Doesn’t even offer to stay and keep me company for a little while! She can’t even make a polite gesture. I came all this way for nothing!”

”The young lady has been looking forward to this for a long time, so...” Uncle Zhang did his best to make excuses for Song Jianye.

”Old Zhang, starting today, I want you to watch her like a hawk. You must video call her every single night. If she’s not in her dorm room for even one night, you call me!”

”Madam...”

Uncle Zhang looked troubled. ”If I do that, I’d be overstepping my bounds. I’m only supposed to look after her daily affairs, I can’t manage that much...”

”What’s there to overstep? You’re to be like her father in this. It’s an order. What if something happens?” Zhao Lin said dismissively.

”Well...”

Uncle Zhang didn’t reply. ’Young people these days really are impulsive. It’s true that this sort of thing needs to be handled with care.’

Meanwhile, Zhao Lin kept muttering, ”It’s over, it’s over... She’s not close to me anymore...”

Uncle Zhang could understand Zhao Lin’s anxiety. After all, she had watched the young lady grow up. Now that she was in college and had found a boyfriend, it was understandable that her aunt wouldn’t be able to accept it so quickly.

”Madam, now that the young lady has left, do you have any other plans for today?”

”Prepare a gift for me. I’m going to visit Teacher Jiang.”

”I’ll see to it right away.”

...

Meanwhile, the two of them walked out of the hotel.

”I’m sorry. I didn’t know my aunt was going to be here.”

”What’s there to be sorry about? It’s not a big deal.”

Chen Yuan completely understood her aunt’s feelings.

’When she was little, her mother was always busy, and since Uncle Zhang was a man, there were limits to the care he could provide. That meant her aunt must have played a crucial role in her upbringing.’

’Her feelings for Song Jianye were practically those of a mother.’

’Even if I wasn’t some Huang Mao, in her eyes, this was probably a classic case of a punk kid from the internet luring away an innocent, 170-cm-tall university student.’

’This is going to be tough.’

’My first impression is completely shot.’

”Did my aunt say anything to you?” Song Jianye asked in a small voice.

”She didn’t say a thing. Don’t worry about it so much. I’ll call a car, and we can go have some fun.”

”Mhm.”

Chen Yuan called a car, and the two of them headed to the Zhonghai Wildlife Park. He’d even looked up a simple guide beforehand, which recommended it as a good spot for family outings.

Since it was the weekend, the park was crowded.

There were other couples, of course, but the vast majority of visitors were parents with their kids.

”This place looks fun! Let’s go see the little animals.”

”There might not be any ’little’ animals. I think they’re probably all big ones.”

”That’s fine! As long as they’re animals.”

’Being with Song Jianye was easy. You never had to worry much. No matter what you did, she would offer you so much positive reinforcement.’

’Chen Yuan even suspected that if he got castrated and wanted to be her sister, she’d take him shopping for dresses without a second thought.’

They had bought their tickets online in advance, so after getting them scanned, they went right in.

Just inside the entrance, they saw a flock of pigeons.

A lot of parents were watching with their kids. It felt like an appetizer before the main course of the zoo.

”Let’s go feed the pigeons.”

”Sure.”

Song Jianye took out her purse, bought a bag of pigeon feed, and handed it to Chen Yuan.

”What’s this for?”

”I’m too scared to do it. You feed them, I’ll watch.”

”Don’t be such a wimp. They’re just pigeons.”

Chen Yuan pointed to a young couple nearby. ”Look at the girl over there. Just do what she’s doing. Put the feed in your hand and wait for them to come eat.”

”I’m afraid they’ll peck me.”

”They won’t. Lots of people are feeding them this way.”

Chen Yuan placed the feed in Song Jianye’s hand. ”If any of them dare to peck you, I’ll secretly catch it later and roast it.”

Song Jianye stood on her tiptoes, watching the people ahead feeding the pigeons, and felt a little eager to try.

”I’ll give it a try. But you have to come with me, and don’t stand too far away.”

”Okay.”

She poured a little feed into her palm and cautiously held out her hand.

Having been around people so long, the pigeons here weren’t afraid of them at all. Seeing the food in Song Jianye’s hand, one came fluttering right over.

”AHHH—”

With a scream, Song Jianye flung the feed from her hand.

The pigeon: ’Whoa, lady, you scared me!’

Song Jianye stood frozen, staring blankly at the pigeons on the ground, then took several pictures with her camera.

”Seen enough pigeons? Let’s get going.”

”But there’s still so much feed left. It’d be a shame to waste it.”

”Well...”

Song Jianye glanced at the flock of pigeons and said, ”These pigeons are too fat. I should help them go on a diet. There are a few skinny ones over there. I’ll go feed them.”

Holding the bag of feed, she went over to another spot and gave all of it to a few of the skinnier pigeons.

The pigeons: ’Brothers, the disaster relief rations from the imperial court have arrived!’
