I Just Started College, How Could I Become a Part-Time Papa?!

Chapter 79: Chapter 69: Is There a Man in Your House?

Sun Pengnan: ”It really wasn’t me. Maybe it was the boss.”

Liu Shiyu: ”The boss is already with Song Jianye. Why would he do it himself?”

Chen Yuan: ”Sorry, that was me. Too many messages.”

Chen Yuan groggily got up. The group chat for the External Relations Department already had 99+ notifications.

Besides that, there were messages from other people, too.

The content was all about the 30-into-15 round of the competition. The traffic had exploded, and he had gained over 2,000 followers.

He opened the External Relations Department’s account. Of the three videos posted yesterday, his had been pinned.

The video had over 60,000 likes and 2,000+ comments.

Seeing these numbers, Chen Yuan felt something was off.

On Douyin, everyone’s a pro. Even with his professional-level nursery rhyme singing skills, he was at the bottom of the barrel. Plus, it was a new account with no followers, so it was unlikely to get this much of a reaction.

The other two videos were of Fang Youning and a male student, and they both sang very well.

Fang Youning had over 200 likes, and the other guy had over 100. The difference between their numbers and his was night and day.

Looking at it this way, anyone with eyes could see it wasn’t normal.

Chen Yuan thought for a moment, and an image appeared in his mind.

In the dead of night, a pair of small, fair hands frantically tapped on a phone screen.

Song Jianye said nothing, just relentlessly paid for promotions.

He clicked into the comment section for a look. The comments were mostly positive, but also very superficial.

Everyone was focused on his ”god-tier looks,” and no one cared about his pure soul.

[Say what you will, he actually sounds really good. The equipment is just a bit basic.]

[Has no one else noticed that this guy is pretty handsome?]

[If I met him in real life, I’d call him a total stud, but sorry, this is Douyin.]

[This guy has so much personality. He just left right after he finished singing.]

[Don’t be fooled, everyone. He’s not some college student, he’s the original singer of ”Never Gonna Give You Up”.]

’The original singer?’

’Is this some new meme?’

Holding his phone, he sent Song Jianye a message.

Chen Yuan: ”Let’s get breakfast together.”

Song Jianye: ”I’ve already washed up. How much longer will you be?”

Chen Yuan: ”Five minutes.”

Song Jianye: ”So fast.”

Chen Yuan: ”[Shh.jpg]”

Song Jianye: ”It’ll be our little secret. I won’t tell anyone at all.”

’She’s such a good kid, so how do her words end up sounding so... off?’

As it turned out, Chen Yuan really was fast. He finished getting dressed and washing up within five minutes.

As he was heading downstairs, he received a message from Song Jianye, telling him to wait another five minutes.

With nothing else to do, Chen Yuan went to Dorm 9. After a short wait, Song Jianye came down.

She was wearing a small JK skirt, one he’d seen her wear before. It looked like a skirt on the outside but was actually a pair of shorts.

But the real highlight was her calf socks, and there was a black bow-shaped barrette in her hair.

’I hereby declare,’ he thought, ’this world cannot exist without Sweet Sisters.’

The two went to Cafeteria Three, planning to eat something good. The meal ended up costing over 80 yuan.

”What time did you go to bed last night?”

”I don’t remember. Around 12-something, I think.”

Song Jianye picked up her chopsticks and dismembered the shrimp bun.

”I want to eat the wrapper. Can I give you the filling?”

Chen Yuan didn’t really want it. It wasn’t that he was grossed out by Song Jianye; it was just that buns were only good with the wrapper. The filling alone would be a bit too salty.

[Your baby has developed a picky eating habit. You must guide and help her to correct this bad habit.]

It wasn’t a mission, just a prompt.

”You’re still a teenager, in your growing phase. You can’t be a picky eater. Eat more meat.”

”I’ve never had this kind of filling before. It’s not very good.”

”Be good. You eat this bun, and I’ll go buy you something else delicious later.”

Song Jianye twitched her small, delicate nose. She looked at the dismembered bun, pouted, and looked a little disgusted.

”But I still don’t want to eat it~ Can you eat it for me, please? I don’t want to waste food.”

”No. Picky eating is not a good habit.”

”Pleeeeeease~~~”

”Fine, fine, fine! Give it here.”

’No one in this world can refuse a Sweet Sister, especially one wearing calf socks.’

”You’re the best.”

”Don’t just say it. Show me some real reward.”

”Next time, I’ll let you eat mine again.”

Chen Yuan: ...

’Nothing more needs to be said. It’s all pointless.’

As he ate the filling, Chen Yuan found the video on the External Relations Department’s account.

”You paid for promotion, didn’t you?”

”Just a little bit. I’ve already arranged the finances, so this expense won’t go through the official books.”

”It’s not a question of whether it’s on the books. It’s just unnecessary. This is an account we made for fun. It’s meaningless for you to pay for promotion. It’s a waste of money.”

”I know, and I didn’t spend that much.”

Song Jianye made a gesture that Koreans might find hard to accept. ”Just a tiny bit. Besides, your singing is really good! You didn’t even tell me you entered the campus singing competition. I didn’t even get to go cheer for you.”

’Given Song Jianye’s wealth, her version of ”a tiny bit” had to be at least four figures.’

”I was planning on getting knocked out in the first round. I never expected to be carried into the top 30. It was a total accident.”

”I heard from Yueyue that if you make it into the top 15, you get to participate in the official competition in the auditorium. Are you confident? I want to go cheer for you.” Song Jianye added, ”I promise I won’t scream or shout and embarrass you.”

”How could you coming be embarrassing for me? It would be the icing on the cake.”

”Hehe, that makes me happy.”

”Don’t get happy too soon. There are 15 people competing in total. I might not even make the top ten.”

”I’m sure you can do it.”

”You have that much confidence in me?”

”Mhm, you’re the best.”

After they finished eating, the two of them walked toward the academic building.

”You don’t have class this afternoon, right? What are your plans?”

”I want to go practice driving.”

”Are you going to abandon me?”

”Not really. I just want to catch up to your progress. Otherwise, we won’t be able to take the Subject Two test together. By the time you’re practicing for Subject Three, I’ll be practicing for Subject Two, and we won’t be able to be together.”

”There’s no need to be so serious about it.”

”No way. I still want to learn Subject Three with you.”

Strolling slowly, they arrived at the academic building. Chen Yuan had class on the first floor and Song Jianye was on the second, so they had to part ways in the first-floor lobby.

”Here, this is for you.”

Song Jianye took a carton of yogurt and a bar of chocolate out of her Hermès bag.

’The brands were a bit unfamiliar; he’d never seen them before.’

”If you get hungry, eat the chocolate. After you’re full, drink the yogurt to help you digest.”

”What if I get hungry again after digesting it?”

”Then I’ll give you another piece of chocolate.”

Song Jianye took another bar of chocolate out of her bag.

”What if I feel a little full after eating the chocolate?”

”Don’t you dare try to trick me out of my little yogurt. This is the last one.”

Song Jianye clutched her bag protectively. ”I have to get to class. Bye-bye.”

”Go on.”

Song Jianye left. Thinking about how she had just acted, Chen Yuan savored the memory a little.

’The kid’s all grown up,’ he mused. ’She’s even started guarding her food...’
