I Just Started College, How Could I Become a Part-Time Papa?!

Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Some Embarrassing Little Problems

Friday’s classes were a breeze: Political Thought and Law first, then Advanced Math, and PE in the afternoon.

After his classes for the day, Chen Yuan went to Jiang Wanyi’s place.

The babysitting had gone smoothly, without any major issues. Most of the time, the two of them just chatted on their phones.

But after five straight days, Jiang Wanyi was just about at her limit.

He navigated the familiar route to Jiang Wanyi’s home with ease.

He saw her downstairs, pushing the stroller while watching some kids play soccer.

This was part of their daily routine. As long as the weather was decent, she would bring the baby down for some fresh air.

Jiang Wanyi was dressed casually in a gray dress that fell to her ankles and a pair of black sandals.

Her long hair was held back with a black clip. Compared to the other new moms in the complex, Jiang Wanyi stood out the most, whether in terms of her aura or her looks.

”Sweetie, look who’s here.”

Mili’s attention was drawn to Jiang Wanyi, and following the direction her mother pointed, she saw Chen Yuan.

”Aah, aah, aah, Baba~~~”

Upon seeing Chen Yuan, Mili spread her arms wide, babbling and bouncing up and down in her stroller.

Jiang Wanyi sighed and rolled her eyes at her daughter.

’The moment Chen Yuan shows up, her own mother is instantly cast aside.’

”Here, let me hold you.”

Chen Yuan walked over and lifted the baby into his arms, nuzzling her little cheek. Jiang Wanyi instantly relaxed.

’With Chen Yuan here, it was like she had a pillar of support.’

”Thanks for making the trip all the way out here on a weekend.”

”Don’t say that. Coming here is a major upgrade to my diet.”

”Anything you’re in the mood for? How about grilled meat? I happen to have some at home, and dipping sauces too.”

”Sounds good.”

”Can I have some?” Jiang Wanyi asked tentatively.

”Got a craving?”

Jiang Wanyi gave a noncommittal nod. She used to see Chen Yuan as just a big kid.

But after spending this time with him, she realized he often took the lead. She had even grown accustomed to asking for his opinion on things. Gradually, she began to see him as a peer, and their interactions became much more relaxed. She no longer felt the need to put on airs.

’Besides, so what if I’m a decade or so older? It’s not a big deal! Hmph!’

”It shouldn’t be a problem, really. As long as it’s not super spicy or heavily seasoned,” Chen Yuan said.

”The biggest side effect of greasy foods like that is that they can clog your milk ducts, and then the baby can’t nurse.”

”That shouldn’t be an issue, right? If they do get clogged, another massage should fix it.”

”Then... you should eat more tonight. Satisfy your craving.”

”Eat... more...”

It took Jiang Wanyi a moment to process his words before she understood the double meaning.

’That little brat. He’s really getting bold with me.’

Having decided on dinner, the two of them didn’t rush upstairs. Chen Yuan held the baby, teaching her to say ”daddy.”

Jiang Wanyi sat beside them and tucked her hair back, a gentle smile on her face as she watched the big kid, Chen Yuan.

’A guy his age is bound to be a little goofy, so she didn’t mind too much.’

She had also given up on the idea of getting the baby to say ”mama” first.

She had been trying to teach her ”mama” all week, but no matter how many times she tried, the baby always ended up saying ”dada”...

”Your husband is so young! And he even helps you with the baby.”

A young woman sidled up to them. She looked to be in her twenties, dressed casually with slightly messy hair. The baby in her stroller seemed even younger than Mili.

She sat down next to Jiang Wanyi, looking at Chen Yuan with a sigh of admiration.

”My husband is completely hands-off. He doesn’t do a thing, so all the childcare falls on me.”

Jiang Wanyi wanted to explain, but just as she was about to speak, she noticed Chen Yuan was still teaching the baby to say ”daddy.”

’If I explain that he’s my younger brother, I’ll become the talk of the neighborhood.’

”Mm,” Jiang Wanyi nodded, a little unnaturally.

”You can tell the baby is close to her dad. Did your husband raise her from birth?” the young woman, who was quite talkative, chatted with Jiang Wanyi.

”Ah, yes...”

Jiang Wanyi’s face turned red, like a vibrant, dewy rose.

”Sis, can I ask you something?”

The woman deliberately lowered her voice, asking in a whisper.

”What is it?”

”How many months after the birth did you two... you know... start having a married life again?”

”Huh?”

Jiang Wanyi was completely dumbfounded.

She had thought the woman was going to ask for parenting advice, not something like this.

’How was she supposed to answer that?’

’She hadn’t done anything like that since getting pregnant.’

”Well...”

Jiang Wanyi hemmed and hawed. ’If I say never, will she think there’s a problem with our relationship?’

”After her hundred-day celebration...”

The woman thought for a moment. Her own baby was already over four months old, so it should be fine. The abstinence was really getting unbearable.

”What kind of birth control do you use?” the woman asked.

”I heard that if you’re not careful, it’s really easy to get pregnant again right away, so I’ve been too scared to...”

”That... well... he wore...”

”Got it...”

The woman’s attention returned to Chen Yuan and Mili.

”I’m so envious you have such a good husband...”

Every family has its own problems, so Jiang Wanyi didn’t feel it was her place to comment on the other woman’s situation. She could only respond with noncommittal hums.

”It’s mainly because my wife is great, too. She didn’t let me do anything before the baby was born,” Chen Yuan chimed in.

Jiang Wanyi’s face flushed. Her heart began to beat a little faster, but she maintained a gentle smile.

’This little brat, he’ll say anything now!’

”I’m so jealous of you two.”

The two women made idle chit-chat, and the rest of their conversation revolved around parenting topics.

Seeing that it was getting late, Chen Yuan and Jiang Wanyi headed back.

”You little brat, you’ll really say anything now, won’t you,” Jiang Wanyi scolded playfully.

”Well, you said plenty yourself.”

”What did I say?”

”We didn’t even know each other at the baby’s hundred-day celebration. I certainly didn’t do anything.”

”You heard all that!”

”I wasn’t far away. Of course I could hear.”

”I didn’t know she was going to ask those things! I couldn’t just say ’never,’ so I made something up.”

This was touching on a blind spot in Chen Yuan’s knowledge.

”Why couldn’t you say ’never’? Is it really a requirement?”

”Normal married couples do. The frequency just varies.”

”So it’s not normal if you don’t?”

”Pretty much. If a couple isn’t, it could mean their relationship is bad, or one of them is cheating, and so on...”

”Couldn’t it just be a low libido?”

”Isn’t that also a type of abnormality?”

The completely wholesome Chen Yuan had never experienced such things, so he couldn’t quite grasp the concept...

Seeing Chen Yuan’s confused expression, Jiang Wanyi found it amusing.

When she chatted with him, she could tell that Chen Yuan was a relatively mature person who took things seriously. It was also clear that he had been raised well.

But no matter what, he was still a kid who didn’t understand a thing about the intimate side of a marriage.
