I Just Started College, How Could I Become a Part-Time Papa?!

Chapter 66: Chapter 65: Jiang Wanyi Arrives

Around noon, an Audi Q5 pulled up in front of the Xinyuan building.

The car door opened. Jiang Wanyi, dressed in black capri pants and a knit cardigan, got out and went straight to her office on the third floor.

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK—

Standing at the entrance, Jiang Wanyi smiled and knocked on the door.

Hearing the sound, the teachers at their desks all looked toward the door.

”Teacher Jiang!”

The first to stand was a female teacher with short hair. Her name was Xue Li, a staff member in Xinyuan’s academic affairs department. She was the one who had previously notified Jiang Wanyi about developing the high-quality course.

The other female teachers followed, while the men kept a slight distance, greeting her from where they stood.

”It’s so hard to see you these days! Taking care of your baby at home must be exhausting,” another female teacher asked.

”Don’t get me started. I almost wish I could put her back where she came from. I haven’t found a good nanny yet, either. I’d rather be cooped up in the lab all day.”

”So, will you be able to teach next semester? This must be the time she needs you the most, right?”

”I’ve already taken a whole semester off. If I don’t come back next semester, the dean will have my head,” Jiang Wanyi said with a smile.

”You’re one of our pillars! The dean would fire all of us before he’d ever fire you.”

”You’re all exaggerating.”

It wasn’t time for the meeting yet, so Jiang Wanyi chatted with some of the other female teachers.

The conversation revolved around the challenges of raising a baby, and the male teachers would occasionally chime in. The atmosphere was pleasant and friendly.

At 1:00 PM, Jiang Wanyi and several other teachers from Xinyuan went to the conference room.

The meeting was also about the high-quality course project.

Jiang Wanyi was in charge of managing the specific work, which would then be submitted to the director of teaching and research for review.

When it came to work, Jiang Wanyi’s demeanor grew much more serious, her face devoid of any smile.

Little did she know that Chen Yuan was in a class just a few dozen meters away from her in a straight line.

...

In the conference room, Jiang Wanyi gave her directives, stern and unsmiling.

Meanwhile, in his Advanced Physics class, Chen Yuan tried to follow the lecture but couldn’t understand a single thing.

’Even though my comprehension and memory have improved, I’m still struggling to face a top-tier Cultivation Method like this.’

’But when it comes to learning a foreign language, I can clearly feel how much more efficient I’ve become. My memorization is much faster, too. If I really push myself, I might actually be able to pass the CET-4 next semester.’

’Right now, the Chen family has two university students, and both of us are at non-elite schools. We’re pretty much on the same level.’

’If I can pass the CET-4, I’ll be a cut above my cousin. I’ll get to claim the center spot when we visit the ancestral graves.’

After class, Chen Yuan and his three roommates headed back toward their dorm.

”Boss, look. I think that’s Fang Youning,” Liu Shiyu said in a low voice.

Following his finger, Chen Yuan saw Fang Youning walking toward them. With her was Fan Siyu, holding a cup of fruit tea from a trendy brand.

She wore blue jeans and black ankle boots, her hair falling naturally down her back. Her simple white blouse gave her the air of a mature upperclassman.

”Ningning, I’m gonna head out. Don’t want to be a third wheel.”

Fan Siyu gave a suggestive smile, and Fang Youning’s cheeks flushed red.

”Don’t say things like that...”

”Whether I’m talking nonsense or not, only you two would know. See ya.”

As Fan Siyu left, Liu Shiyu and the other two also tactfully took their leave. Chen Yuan took the opportunity to ask them to carry his books upstairs.

”Um...”

The blush on Fang Youning’s face hadn’t faded. ”The competition is about to start. I’m heading to Room 201. Are you coming?”

”Sure, let’s go.”

As they walked side by side, Fang Youning’s heart beat a little faster. She searched for a topic of conversation.

”Do you remember my little nephew?”

”Of course. We have a ’dick-flicking’ bond...”

”You’re just bullying a little kid,” Fang Youning said, embarrassed.

”My sister messaged me and said my nephew is always talking about you at home. He calls you ’that uncle’ and wants to play with you.”

’Last time I changed her nephew’s diaper, it triggered a passive quest. If I get the chance, it might be a good idea to hang out with him again.’

”Bring your nephew out to play sometime when you’re free.”

”Okay.”

Soon, they arrived at Room 201. The other contestants weren’t there yet.

”I found your backing track. Do you want to test it out?” Fang Youning asked.

”No need. Let’s just dive right in. No foreplay required.”

”Your skill level is quite high, so it’s fine even if you don’t practice,” Fang Youning said with conviction.

”And I think you’ll have no problem making it into the top 15. You can start thinking about what you’ll sing in the finals.”

”If I actually make it, I’ll sing a song in English. That should be enough to impress some people.”

’An English nursery rhyme is still an English song. Gotta secure the cool points first and figure out the rest later.’

”An English song!”

Fang Youning looked as though she’d discovered a new world. ”Then your English must be really good, right?”

”I got an 89 on my college entrance exam.”

”Oh.”

Chen Yuan: ???

”Wow, that was a critical hit.”

”No, no, I didn’t mean anything by it,” Fang Youning quickly explained. ”I only scored a 141.”

”What did I ever do to you? Are you trying to land a finishing blow?”

”I-I really didn’t mean it like that...”

Fang Youning realized she’d said the wrong thing and hurriedly tried to explain, ”What I meant was, I didn’t do that well either. I actually underperformed...”

Chen Yuan: ...

’It’s like your opponent kicked you, stabbed you, and then spat on you for good measure before walking away.’

”My pride is wounded. I’m leaving...”

”Hey, hey, hey... don’t go! I’ll apologize... I’m sorry, okay?”

Fang Youning was completely serious, even bowing at the waist.

”There’s no need, really...”

’A woman’s waist is for arching, not for bowing,’ he thought.

”I haven’t had a single sip of my fruit tea yet. Here, you have it.”

”Oh, I couldn’t possibly.”

”But you already took it.”

”Don’t sweat the small stuff.”
