I Just Started College, How Could I Become a Part-Time Papa?!

Chapter 75: Chapter 68: Close Family

Morning classes were over, and they had the afternoon off.

”Boss, want to go play ball at the medical university this afternoon? Let’s check out their basketball skills.”

”Can’t today. I have to go practice driving.”

”You can go scout it out first. I’ll sign up next semester too.”

”Sure.”

He’d arranged to have lunch with Song Jianye at Cafeteria No. 3, and then the two of them went to practice driving.

Chen Yuan practiced a few times without any issues. Even Zhou Jianye thought he was ready to take the Level 2 test. As long as he practiced occasionally to stay sharp, there would be no problem.

For the rest of the afternoon, it was basically Song Jianye who was practicing.

”Not bad, not bad. A little bit of progress today...”

”Girls and guys are just different. You’re so delicate, not much strength in your hands. Can barely even turn the steering wheel...”

”This isn’t some fancy car. Just go ahead and crank the wheel. Slam the brakes as hard as you can. If it breaks, it’s on me...”

Sitting in the back seat, Chen Yuan had his first real taste of the saying ’money makes the world go round’...

Around 4:30 in the afternoon, the two of them left the driving school.

Song Jianye had indeed improved, but it was only an improvement. She wasn’t at the level where she could register for the test yet.

After he got back, since he’d arranged to have dinner with Jiang Wanyi, Chen Yuan didn’t eat with Song Jianye. He took a bus and slowly made his way over.

When he reached the entrance of her residential community, he saw an old woman selling small pinwheels and bought one for Mili on a whim.

He knocked, and Jiang Wanyi opened the door.

She was wearing a gray slip dress. Her chest was full and round, her hips wide and waist narrow—she was stunningly beautiful.

”Ah, ah, ah... hehehe...”

Seeing Chen Yuan, Mili’s eyes crinkled as she laughed.

”Come on in, everything’s ready.”

Chen Yuan took off his shoes and entered. The food was already on the table. Since it was just the two of them eating, Jiang Wanyi had prepared four dishes.

It wasn’t that she was being stingy; they really wouldn’t be able to finish if she made more, and besides, she was still on a restricted diet.

The most eye-catching dish was the oysters, each as big as a palm.

”She was being so fussy when I was trying to get her to sleep, so I couldn’t make too much for you. I made the braised shrimp and the oysters. The other two dishes are takeout.”

For Jiang Wanyi, this was her way of thanking Chen Yuan.

Aside from washing his clothes and such, making him some food to give him a better meal was about all she could do.

”Having something to eat is good enough for me. I’m not picky.”

Chen Yuan placed the baby in her stroller, and the three of them ate together.

”Try the braised shrimp. It’s my specialty.”

”It’s better than the two takeout dishes.”

”You’re such a smooth-talker,” Jiang Wanyi said with a smile.

”You should eat all six of these oysters. It’s good for you, can’t hurt.”

”They’re too big. I’ll have four, you take the rest.”

”It’d be a waste for me to eat them. I made them for you.”

”They’re a ’beauty salon’ for women too, you know. How is that a waste?”

”You seem to know quite a lot.”

They finished their meal while chatting about little things in life.

Jiang Wanyi put the plates and chopsticks in the sink. Chen Yuan, holding Mili, stood by the window, watching the children play downstairs.

”Ahhh—”

”Ahhh—”

”Do you want to go down there?”

”Ahhh—”

Chen Yuan looked back at Jiang Wanyi. Their eyes met, and they both understood what the other was thinking.

”It’s not dark yet. We can take her out for a stroll. I also need to go to the small market by the east gate to buy a few things.”

”You go get changed. I’ll get her dressed.”

”Mhm.”

Jiang Wanyi went back to her room and changed into gray sweatpants and a small top. She casually tied her hair up in the back. The look wasn’t particularly refined, but it felt very homey and down-to-earth.

The first impression she gave was that this was a woman who knew how to live a good life.

Meanwhile, Chen Yuan had also finished dressing Mili and put her in the stroller. Then, the two of them headed out.

On the way from their building’s entrance to the community’s east gate, they both walked slowly.

Even though their destination was the market at the east gate, they were both enjoying the leisurely after-dinner stroll.

Mili’s curiosity about the world was only growing. Her little head swiveled back and forth, left and right, like a security camera.

There were also people walking their dogs in the community. Whenever Chen Yuan saw one, he would push the stroller away.

’Ever since the last incident, the Wi-Fi name at home had been changed. I wonder how that person’s ”precious grandson” is doing,’ he thought. ’It’d be interesting if it grew eight claws.’

”Ah—”

Jiang Wanyi, who was looking at her phone and replying to a message, was suddenly pulled aside by Chen Yuan.

She looked up abruptly and saw a car coming straight toward them.

’I was so focused on my phone, I didn’t even realize I’d walked into the middle of the road.’

”I don’t just have to look after the baby, I have to look after you too. Next time, you’d better make a double portion of the good food, or I’m going on strike.”

The corners of Jiang Wanyi’s mouth lifted into a gentle smile.

”I’ll go buy you something tasty right now.”

Putting her phone away, Jiang Wanyi’s attention returned to Chen Yuan and the baby.

She realized that they had reached the east gate without her even noticing.

Only then did she notice that from the moment they’d left the apartment until now, she hadn’t paid any attention to the baby at all. Chen Yuan had been the one watching her the entire time.

’Since when did I start trusting Chen Yuan as much as I trust my own family?’

Subconsciously, Jiang Wanyi posed a hypothetical situation in her mind.

’Even if I weren’t home, I wouldn’t worry about leaving him and the baby at home together for several days.’

’It seems I’ve really started to see him as a close family member.’
