I Just Started College, How Could I Become a Part-Time Papa?!

Chapter 55: Chapter 55: Have You Been Hurt by a Woman Before?

The next morning, classes went on as usual.

A wonderful Thursday began with a general education class.

The telecommunications and computer science majors had the class together in a lecture hall.

During the break after the first period, Li Baichuan sidled over.

”Brother Yuan, I heard you made it into the top 70.”

Li Yingying was sitting in the row ahead, and Chen Yuan was playing with her hair.

”Don’t even mention it. The whole thing’s rigged.”

”Could it be that Qi Chen has a crush on you and forced you into the top 70?”

When the topic turned to the juicy details of romance, Li Yingying turned around. She was wearing a small white tank top, and the outline of her bra was visible—a shame her cups were empty.

”Sister Chen actually thinks highly of you. When we were chatting, she specifically mentioned you. She said you should pick a serious song to sing tonight and use this chance to get to know each other better. Who knows, maybe something will happen.”

”She’s a year older than me. An old woman. Not my type.”

”Damn! A hottie!”

Li Baichuan cried out in surprise. Chen Yuan and Li Yingying both looked toward the door.

Standing at the door was none other than Fang Youning.

As a strong contender for the title of campus belle, Fang Youning was also extremely popular at school.

Quite a few guys looked toward the door, starting to whisper among themselves.

”Why is she back?” Li Yingying said.

”You know her?”

”She’s our school’s ’little songstress’! Didn’t you see her performance at the welcome gala? The moment she came on stage, she elevated the entire event.”

Standing at the door, Fang Youning stood on her tiptoes, peering into the classroom. Her gaze finally landed on Chen Yuan.

”Brother Yuan, she looked at me! She just glanced at me! Do you think she might have a secret crush on me?”

Li Baichuan was so excited he was practically bouncing in his seat.

”What kind of dangerous talk is that? Someone call The Palace Museum, they’ve found the missing pig’s head.”

Under the watchful eyes of all the guys, Fang Youning lowered her head and walked quickly to the last row.

”You... you want to sit here?”

Li Baichuan folded down the seat next to him.

”I’m here to see Chen Yuan about something.”

”Oh, you’re here for Chen Yuan...”

BGM: Snowflakes flutter, the winter wind whistles~~~

The attention of every guy in the lecture hall was focused on Chen Yuan and Fang Youning.

Liu Shiyu: ”Isn’t the boss close with Song the School Beauty? How does he know Fang Youning too?”

Sheng Kangming: ”He’s not going for a double kill, is he?”

Sun Pengnan: ”I even got circumcised! Why him and not me!”

So jealous their dicks hurt.

Chen Yuan also hadn’t expected this beautiful young songstress to be looking for him.

’She’s not here to hit on me, is she?’

”What’s up?”

”The 70 people who advanced were divided into seven groups. You’re in my group. I wanted to ask what song you’re singing tonight, and if you need any instruments. I can help you prepare them.”

”I’m singing ’Little Nezha.’ Gotta ride that popularity wave.”

”Huh? What?” Fang Youning was clearly stunned.

”You’ve never heard this song? ’It tells of a myth~ ’bout a certain family~~~’”

Chen Yuan had his own reasons for choosing this song.

Although it was a children’s song, the original singer was Sun Nan. He was a huge star, after all. Singing a song like this in a qualifying round wasn’t completely outrageous.

”It sounds a little familiar. My older sister used to play it for my little nephew.”

”Yes, yes, that’s the one.”

”But...”

RING RING RING~~~

The class bell rang, and the classroom fell silent.

The professor on the stage organized their lesson plan.

”Alright everyone, please return to your seats. Class is now starting.”

Flustered, Fang Youning quietly sat down next to Li Baichuan.

AHEM AHEM AHEM...

After a few light coughs, Li Baichuan straightened his back, laid his notebook flat on the desk, and began taking notes diligently.

”Stop kidding yourself.”

”Class has started. Is there a problem with me taking notes? This is for credit, you know.”

As he spoke, Li Baichuan kept his eyes glued to the blackboard.

”Do you even know the name of this class?”

”Ideology, Morality, and Mental Health for College Students.”

”And you’re just sitting there in the middle. It makes you seem like you have no deep thoughts, no morals, and that your mental health is in question.”

”You just wait, I’ll be back!”

Muttering under his breath, Li Baichuan took his pen and notebook and moved to another empty seat in the back row, where he started scrolling through TikTok.

Chen Yuan scooted over next to Fang Youning.

”Don’t you have class today?”

”Not the first period. The other students have all submitted their song choices, but you haven’t yet. I knew you had class here, and my second period is in this room too, so I just came over.”

As she spoke, Fang Youning handed him a bag she was holding. Inside was a cup of coffee.

”Here, this is for you.”

”Thank you for your help the other day. My sister said she’s going to use the diapers you recommended from now on.”

He stuck a straw in it and held it to Fang Youning’s lips.

”Want a sip?”

”No, no, no, I’m good. You drink it,” Fang Youning said nervously, the tips of her ears turning red.

While the professor lectured at the front, Fang Youning took out her phone, searched for the song Chen Yuan wanted to sing, and then quietly pulled out her earphones to listen to it.

”This song is actually quite difficult, not very easy to sing. It’s the round to get from the top 70 to the top 30, so the competition isn’t that fierce. You could play it a little safer.”

”If this song doesn’t work, I’ll have to sing ’Counting Ducks’.”

”’Counting Ducks?’”

”’Under the big bridge in front of the door, a flock of ducks swims by...’ or, ’I have a little donkey that I never, ever ride...’ Give me some advice, which one is better?”

”Uh, well... I think you should stick with ’Little Nezha’.”

”You seem very reluctant. I have one more ace up my sleeve.”

”What ace?”

”’A little monk went down the mountain to beg for alms, the old monk had warned him, ”The women down the mountain are tigers, if you meet one you must hide away.”’ What do you think of that one?”

”Why would you sing that song? Have you been hurt by a girl before?”

Chen Yuan: ???

”Stop looking for the backing track for a minute and listen to the lecture. Learn a thing or two about ideology and morality.”

Fang Youning didn’t dare to make a peep. ’I think I said the wrong thing.’

With her head down, Fang Youning found the backing track for Chen Yuan. She listened to it a few more times, getting a feel for the song’s style. When she wanted to explain it to Chen Yuan, she found he had fallen asleep.

And just like that, Chen Yuan didn’t wake up until it was almost the end of class.

Quietly, Fang Youning gave Chen Yuan a gentle poke.

”Is class over?” Chen Yuan said with a frown.

”Five minutes left.”

”Perfect timing. I need to wake up slowly, or I’ll catch a cold if I go outside right away.”

”I found the backing track.”

”Mm.”

Chen Yuan yawned, bringing the conversation to an end.

Fang Youning propped her cheek on one hand, her long hair cascading down one side, looking completely listless.

A gentle breeze wafted in through a crack in the window, lifting her long hair, but it couldn’t stir her thoughts.

’We’ve been sitting here for so long, and tonight he’s even competing in my group. Why hasn’t he asked to add me as a friend?’

’And that song he was singing earlier...’

’Who says women are tigers? The song is just spouting nonsense.’

’Could he have really been dumped by a girl, and now he avoids them altogether?’

...
