The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 479: Chapter 479: The Sixth Person in a Five-Person Team (1)

Darkness provided Carson Flores with the best cover.

He lurked at the corner of a building, silently watching Saint Jaramillo at the entrance of the pharmacy, his presence imposing and furious.

He naturally wouldn’t go out.

He was like a hunter in the dark, quietly squatting in wait.

Saint Jaramillo roared twice, but there was no response, which left him furious yet helpless.

He knew his opponent might be hiding in the darkness, perhaps even watching him, but he just couldn’t find where.

”Shawn Boyd, how are you hurt?”

Shawn Boyd had already climbed up from the ground, his face flushed with embarrassment as he said, ”I’m fine, the other party didn’t strike with lethal force, but my bag was snatched.”

Richard Compton was also embarrassed, ”My bag was taken as well.”

Saint Jaramillo asked, ”Is the opponent very formidable?”

Richard Compton nodded, ”Very fast, moves silently in the darkness; I didn’t even see the person when my bag was snatched!”

Saint Jaramillo’s expression grew grave, ”It seems that our opponent is a Great Grandmaster skilled in stealth, the type who excels as an assassin. Let’s gather the remaining items in my backpack for now; the person might still be watching us.”

As the team leader and the strongest among them, Saint Jaramillo’s suggestion went unopposed, especially since Shawn Boyd and Richard Compton had both seen what happened to each other.

All the medicinal ingredients and elixirs were gathered into Saint Jaramillo’s backpack, and he slung it onto his back, ”Let’s move together and search the second floor.”

The search on the second floor went smoothly, and they made new discoveries.

”There are five Wuling Elixirs here.”

Shawn Boyd passed the box of Wuling Elixirs to Saint Jaramillo with excitement, ”According to that alchemy book, Wuling Elixir is a fundamental cultivation elixir here, full of potent medicinal power. For us, though, they are exceptional high-level cultivation elixirs, and they can also be used for a Grandmaster to advance to a Great Grandmaster—this is equivalent to five Great Grandmasters.”

A smile appeared on Saint Jaramillo’s face as he took the elixirs and placed them into his backpack, ”These elixirs’ name suits our Sect well. Wuling Elixirs aren’t much use to Innate Grandmasters, but they have significant effects on Great Grandmasters. Taking these back, our Sect will soon have several more Great Grandmasters.”

After ensuring nothing was overlooked, Saint Jaramillo put on the backpack, ”Let’s go!”

The five people exited the pharmacy and proceeded along the street, discussing in hushed tones about the surrounding houses, speculating on the owners’ identities, and deciding if any warranted priority searching.

Shawn Boyd, who was trailing at the rear of the group, shone his flashlight on a large house to the right, ”This one looks like it belongs to a wealthy family; there should be loot.”

All their flashlights swept towards the right side, and after a long consideration, Saint Jaramillo said, ”It indeed looks like a grand residence, but let’s first comb through the shops; we’ll come back here later.”

Shawn Boyd turned his flashlight back, only to notice a flashlight beam to his left rear, with someone walking there.

Shawn Boyd didn’t think much of it, subconsciously assuming it was just someone from his team who had changed positions while checking out the mansion, and he continued to follow the group.

The person on his left swayed their flashlight left and right and briskly passed Shawn Boyd, heading down the street.

As the group walked and chatted, Shawn Boyd suddenly felt something was amiss.

What was amiss?

Five people were clearly talking, but Shawn Boyd couldn’t shake the feeling that someone wasn’t speaking.

Shawn Boyd’s eyes suddenly widened.

He was at the very end of the team, yet in front of him, there were five people holding flashlights!

A chill went down Shawn Boyd’s spine.

Their team only consisted of five members, but here was a sixth person!

Was this a person or a ghost?

When did they sneak in?

Shawn Boyd felt goosebumps all over in an instant. He wanted to alert the others, but if he yelled out, the situation would certainly become chaotic, making it easier for the enemy to take advantage.

Shawn Boyd swung his flashlight casually, pretending not to care as he swept it over the person to the right.

Richard Compton.

Shawn Boyd continued to move the flashlight, aiming it at the next person shrouded in the darkness.

Jacob Roth.

No problem!

The leader in the middle of the road was Saint Jaramillo, which meant the remaining two must be on either side of him.

Shawn Boyd’s flashlight beam swept across to the right of Saint Jaramillo.

Kieran Newman.

Shawn Boyd’s eyes widened. If these five were his own people, then the ”ghost” mixed into their team could only be the person on the left side of Saint Jaramillo, and now that person was very close to Saint Jaramillo.

Their target was the backpack on Saint Jaramillo’s back!

Shawn Boyd was about to voice a warning when a blinding light suddenly shone directly on his face, making everything in front of him turn bright, leaving him completely unable to see.

In desperation, Shawn Boyd shouted, ”Leader, be careful!”

Upon hearing Shawn Boyd’s warning, Saint Jaramillo was shocked and instantly tensed every muscle, not knowing from where the danger approached.

”Back to back defense!”

A deep, urgent voice came from the rear left side. Saint Jaramillo instinctively turned, his back towards the rear left, while remaining vigilant towards the front.

No sooner had Saint Jaramillo completed this move than his heart skipped a beat.

Something wasn’t right!

That voice was wrong!

The person speaking behind him wasn’t one of their team!

At the same time, Saint Jaramillo felt someone press up against his back, then suddenly his backpack felt lighter as the shoulder strap broke and the bag was pulled away from his body.
