Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 1189: Chapter 1161: Why Cry and Not Admit It

The couple, Meiqiang and his wife, managed to appease his parents and were taking the beauty back home. Dalong hopped over to open the door. His leg still couldn’t walk like a normal person, but he could manage a few steps with a crutch now.

”Brother-in-law! You came back just in time, I have something to discuss with you!”

Qian gave Minglang a look, and Yu Minglang cleared his throat, ”Just in time, I have something to tell you too. Let’s go to the small bedroom to talk.”

Once in the small bedroom, Dalong couldn’t wait to make his request.

”Brother-in-law, can I go back to the company? There’s a performance assessment coming up soon. I can’t keep lying around at home. I’ll just practice in my wheelchair. I thought about it for a long time; I won’t ask for any reward from the higher-ups this time. I just hope you can approve me to go back to study. If it doesn’t work out, can you deduct money from my salary?”

This kid couldn’t stand staying at home for a few days. He was thinking about his friends and the thrill of studying hard. Once you get the hang of it, it’s a pretty addicting feeling.

”Well... ahem, Dalong, brother-in-law has something to tell you, I just want to ask you one thing. Do you want to become an excellent man, or do you want to protect your sister?”

”Is there even a question? I want to be an excellent man and then protect my sister!”

”What if you could only choose one?”

Seeing Dalong’s bewildered face, Yu Minglang started to scheme, shifting his eyes to look outside the door. Once he was sure his wife could hear, he said to Dalong.

”Your sister is such a troublemaker. She got herself into trouble again recently. Her patient has some issues, but she insists on being all ethical and won’t let go. We can’t send someone to protect your sister without solid evidence in this matter. You know how busy the company is, no spare manpower. It’s all up to you now. Only you can protect your sister. But if you protect her, your assessment is over, and you’ll have to return to the old unit and try again next year.”

After Yu Minglang finished speaking, he saw Dalong look as if he had been struck by lightning, completely motionless.

The mischievous brother-in-law was mentally voiceovering for Dalong, shorts, big shorts~

This kid’s quite pitiful too. From muddling through life to finally finding a goal after going through so much, only to be suddenly told he can only choose between dreams and family.

”Of course, if you don’t want to care for our whimsical little troublemaker, brother-in-law doesn’t blame you. If you want to return to the company, I’ll give you special approval, letting you train individually. With my approval, you’re free to choose any trainer, practice however you want from morning till night. After all, the reason you were injured was because of your bravery, you should have this treatment. With this treatment, staying in the company is a given.”

”Can we find someone else to protect my sister?” The terms Yu Minglang laid out were very tempting to Dalong, but he was still worried about Qian.

”There’s no extra personnel now, and I can’t tie your sister down. And there may be some hidden things behind the Mu Family waiting for us to uncover. Let me put it this way: you go protect your sister. If you can help us find evidence of the Mu Family’s wrongdoing, the company will just give you a verbal commendation, but you still have to go back to dig dirt. If you protect your sister and find nothing, not even a verbal commendation, you’ll also have to go back to dig dirt. But your sister will be safe and happy. What will you choose?”

Seeing Dalong struggle, Yu Minglang patted him on the shoulder, ”Brother-in-law knows this is difficult for you. It’s not your fault we have such a capricious little lady in the family. I’ll give you a day to think about it and let me know your decision.”

Outside, Qian was so angry that steam was almost coming out of her ears. She was sure this bastard Yu Minglang kept calling her little lady just to settle personal grievances. Just how many times has he called her that in his mind!

Qian believed Dalong wouldn’t give up this opportunity. After all, the kid just found his life’s goal. He’s fighting so hard to stay at the company headquarters, carrying the hopes of his old unit.

Yu Minglang hadn’t even reached the door when Dalong called out to him.

”Brother-in-law, I don’t need to think about it. I’ll stay with my sister.”

This result surprised Qian, but Yu Minglang just smiled.

”Are you sure? Let me give you a little inside information. Based on your current scores and performance, your probability of passing the assessment is very high. Isn’t it a pity to give that up for your capricious sister?”

”I owe my sister this... Brother-in-law, let me tell you something I’ve never told anyone before. I really didn’t know my dad hid my sister’s acceptance letter back then. When my sister exposed it, I was too young to think much of it, just feeling that my dad was wrong. But now that I’m older and have met more people, I seem to understand.”

”What do you understand?”

”I understand my dad wanted to keep all the opportunities for my sister for me back then, including the cantaloupe story my mom mentioned that day. I remembered, too. Whatever the family had to eat, my dad always let me have it first, leaving the rest for my sister. If there was none left, my sister had nothing. But even so, my sister would save things for me.”

All those things he didn’t understand when he was young suddenly became clear.

After experiencing the incident where Qian cried to give him blood, Dalong suddenly grew up. He finally realized how much he unintentionally took from his sister when he was a child.

Even though it wasn’t something he did consciously, because of him, his extraordinary sister had an unfair childhood.

Being the only boy at home, their father always gave the best to him, depriving his sister of everything. However, his sister still devoted herself to nurturing him until he understood and became successful.

”I’ve grown up now. I’m just starting work, and I don’t have much money. I can’t do much for my sister, but she needs me now, so I’ll go.”

”You don’t want to stay at the headquarters?”

”I do, but my sister is more important. At worst, I’ll go back and dig dirt with the team leader for another year. I’ll try again next year. It doesn’t matter if I’m a year late.”

”Good!” Yu Minglang patted Dalong on the shoulder, feeling very gratified.

The love his wife has shown to this brat over the years hasn’t been in vain. Seeing Dalong like this should make his wife very happy, right?

Yu Minglang then talked to Dalong about some details, including how to speak when he’s with Qian, how to investigate and gather evidence, and what to do in case of emergencies. Dalong listened with great enthusiasm, both admiring his brother-in-law’s strategy and being happy to have the opportunity to protect his sister.

Outside, Qian quietly walked away and sat on the window seat, looking outside. The beauty leaned over, curiously looking at the water droplets on her face. Qian wiped her tears, ”I’m fine, just got some sand in my eyes.”

Yeah, would never admit, she was moved by Dalong.

Sand?

The beauty was puzzled, but there wasn’t any.

Humans are really complicated creatures, why would they cry and not admit it?
