Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 1164: Chapter 1136: Honey, Are You Pregnant? (Fourth Update)

Yu Minglang knew his precious Qian was particularly lazy. When he wasn’t home, she wouldn’t even eat fish because she didn’t want to deal with the bones. These marinated snacks were tasty, but gnawing on them was too troublesome. She usually was too lazy to eat them.

”Who knows, I originally wanted to go to the night market to buy some grilled squid, but it smelled unpleasant and wasn’t fresh. Then I saw this new store opening and bought some to share with you. If I had known you would eat the snacks I bought with alcohol and not let me drink, I shouldn’t have bought them and should have just let you crave them.”

Qian was quite resentful.

”Honey, could it be that you’re pregnant? You can eat spicy food so well. When Yv Gang’s wife was pregnant, she loved spicy food. He even asked me to bring pickled peppers from our mom’s place.”

Yv Gang’s wife was quite amusing. She preferred boys over girls, but wouldn’t admit it. People say sour for boys, spicy for girls. She insisted on liking sour food, eating dried plums daily, and would get up in the middle of the night to munch on pickled chicken feet. Yv Gang had to comfort her several times that boys and girls are the same, but she wouldn’t admit she liked spicy food. Yv Gang secretly asked a colleague for some chili peppers to put in the fridge.

”Huh?” Qian paused while nibbling on a duck head, recalling a bizarre dream from last night where a daughter was seeking help from her father.

”It can’t be. It’s not the time yet.” Qian patted her stomach, unable to remember what it felt like when she was pregnant with Xiaowei in her past life. She seemed to have suffered quite a bit from pregnancy symptoms.

She had split from Yu Minglang then and was feeling down. Coupled with immense career pressures, she was exhausted bearing it alone, almost losing the child. Looking at herself now, eating and sleeping so well, it didn’t seem like she was pregnant.

”Yeah, not the time yet... No worries, let nature take its course. You should eat less of these unhealthy things.”

Yu Minglang just said casually. Both had wanted a kid for a long time without success, and he didn’t want to get Qian’s hopes up too much or put pressure on her.

”Maybe I should get checked this week. Do you think my stress is causing mental tension preventing pregnancy?” Qian said while eating. The spicy food didn’t seem spicy at first, but the more she ate, the more addictive and spicy it became.

”What pressure? I’m glad you don’t go out creating pressure for others. It might not even be your issue. Maybe my work stress is causing body problems. We should get checked together when there’s time. If we can’t have kids, it’s fine. It’s nice to live happily as a couple, isn’t it?” Yu Minglang always believed children should be an enhancement to the family, not a source of pressure. If not having kids affects their relationship, it’s too high a cost.

”True, can’t rush these things. Ooh, it’s so spicy!” Qian fanned herself, realizing it was spicy now.

The dog lying on the ground glanced at her contemptuously, deserved! Serves her right for taunting it earlier, karma!

”Luckily, I know yogurt can neutralize spiciness, and we still have a bottle in the fridge~”

Qian took a bottle of yogurt from the fridge, opened it, and was about to drink. Yu Minglang glanced over, suddenly sharp.

”Don’t drink!”

Qian got startled, her hand shook, nearly spilling yogurt on her clothes.

”Why!”

”It’s expired. You’ll get diarrhea if you drink it.”

Qian checked the yogurt and saw it was indeed expired.

”You are really too careless. If you drink expired yogurt and get diarrhea, what happens? Stay at home; I’ll go get some for you.” He pinched her cheek, got up, and went downstairs.

Qian looked at the expired yogurt, chuckled at the dog on the ground.

”Beauty, do you want to try if expired food gives a dog diarrhea?”

”Woof!” Disgusted with you!

...

”Flush~”

Qian pressed the toilet flush, holding her stomach and hunching over as she came out of the bathroom.

It was already midnight, and she had been to the bathroom multiple times in a short time.

Passing by the dog’s den, she could feel the smug gleam from its green tea eyes in the dark, gloating.

As if saying, ”Serves you right, trying to feed expired yogurt. Now you’re the one with diarrhea!”

”Feeling better?” Yu Minglang stood at the bedroom door in his sleepwear and asked.

It had been several hours since they ate the duck heads. He had planned on discussing pregnancy steps after eating, but just as he held his wife down, he heard her belly rumbling.

Then he watched Qian run back and forth to the bathroom.

”I’m done for; I feel like I’m going to faint...” Qian said weakly.

”I’ll make you some warm water. Hang in there.” Yu Minglang wasn’t hesitant to fuss in the middle of the night. He ran to the kitchen and made her a cup of warm water. Qian took a sip and felt even worse.

”Why is it both sweet and salty?”

”You’re dehydrated and need to replenish fluids. Salt and sugar proportionally help better absorption. Drink up!”

It was actually saline solution, best for diarrhea. Qian drank two sips and then felt her stomach churn, covering her mouth, and ran to the toilet to throw up.

She vomited up all the spicy food she’d eaten, with the lingering taste of spicy duck head in her throat. Qian felt she could quit these foods for life, so miserable!

”No, you need to go to the hospital.” Yu Minglang watched her vomit until her face turned pale, unable to bear it.

”I don’t want to go, just give me some Norfloxacin, will that do?” It was so late, going to the hospital meant registration, drawing blood, too inconvenient.

”Listen, get dressed and let’s go see a doctor. You’re suffering too much from throwing up.”

Yu Minglang found her clothes. While he was rummaging through the closet, Qian crouched by the bed, searching.

She recalled having a medicine box at home.

She found a bottle of Norfloxacin, her go-to for diarrhea, learned from her mother. Only one pill was left, and she intended to take it when Yu Minglang wasn’t looking to avoid a hospital visit. Just as she held it, she felt a tickle.

The dog suddenly appeared and brushed against her hand knocking the pill off!

Tastes awful! The dog disdainfully stuck out its tongue looking disgusted.

Qian felt disgusting too, how could she eat a pill that had been touched by that rascal!

Yu Minglang watched her struggle amusingly, pulled her up, threw away the pill, and patiently helped her dress.

”Come on, now you’ve given up, right? Let’s go to the hospital and get some medication. Stop self-medicating at home; you might worsen it without proper diagnosis.”

Having no choice, Qian let him help her change clothes, though she was still not convinced.

”These are precious experiences summarized by my mom! For colds runny nose, take Niuhuang Jiedu and five cents cold medicine; diarrhea? Norfloxacin; headache toothache? Pain relievers!”
