Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 1165: Chapter 1137: Careless Mom, Attentive Dad

”...Thank your mother-in-law for raising you and Dalong to this age.” Yu Minglang was utterly impressed by her, throwing all the blame onto his mother-in-law for the sake of convenience!

They went to the hospital and registered for an emergency visit. There weren’t many people at the hospital at that hour, and the doctor on duty had already gone to bed. After listening to Qian describe the symptoms, the doctor quickly made a judgment.

”You probably ate too much spicy food, irritating your stomach and causing acute gastroenteritis. Would you prefer intravenous therapy or medication?”

”Which is faster?” Yu Minglang asked.

”Of course, it’s intravenous therapy. Her complexion doesn’t look too good, she might be a bit dehydrated. IV not only reduces inflammation but also replenishes fluids.”

”Then let’s go with the IV.”

The doctor quickly prescribed medication. Yu Minglang paid the bill, took the medicine, and led Qian to the IV area to find a nurse. At night, there was only a small light on in the hospital corridor, which was otherwise pitch black. On their way to the IV area, they passed by the gynecology department, which was closed as there was no nightshift doctor. The corridor, however, had posters with pregnancy tips. Seeing the poster about how medication during pregnancy can cause fetal deformities, Yu Minglang suddenly felt an indescribable sensation, something he hadn’t felt before, and it stuck in his mind.

When the nurse was about to tie a tourniquet on Qian’s wrist to administer the IV, Yu Minglang inexplicably asked another question.

”Nurse, will the medication she’s getting have any effect if she’s pregnant?”

”Is she pregnant?”

Qian also looked at Yu Minglang. Indeed, when did she get pregnant? They’ve been trying for a child with no luck, and she’s almost given up hope.

”No, I was just asking.” He didn’t quite know why he asked that today; it was just a gut feeling.

”It’s best not to risk it. Although drugs during early pregnancy aren’t as harmful to the fetus as during late pregnancy, you should still be cautious. If she’s pregnant, you’d better ask the doctor to switch to pregnancy-safe medication.”

”It’s not necessary, just go ahead with it.” Qian was a bit sleepy; she was somewhat dehydrated and uncomfortable, wanting to get the IV done and catch some sleep.

”Please wait a moment. I’ll find a doctor to change the medication. If you’re tired, Qianbao, just take a nap.” Yu Minglang adjusted her pillow and covered her with a blanket.

”Why go through all this trouble? Aren’t you tired running up and down floors without getting annoyed?”

”It’s fine; consider it exercise.” Yu Minglang touched her forehead.

The nearby nurse was a bit unhappy, dealing with such a puzzling individual at night disrupted her rest.

”Aren’t you exhausted from making a fuss in the middle of the night? You don’t even know if she’s pregnant. What were you doing earlier? If you’d mentioned it to the doctor earlier, it wouldn’t have been so complicated.”

Her complaint made the already sleepy Qian sit upright instantly, eyes showing readiness to argue back. Did she dare imply her husband was acting like she didn’t exist?

”Forget it.”

Fearful of her getting angry and straining herself, Yu Minglang picked Qian up, and the nurse’s eyes widened in disbelief.

How could this man be so strong, lifting her as easily as a ragdoll?

”We’ll take the medication and go home. I’ll administer it to you.”

Seeing the nurse’s attitude, Yu Minglang didn’t feel reassured leaving Qian in her care. Besides, the bed didn’t look very clean either. Better to take the medication and handle it at home. After all, they’d been trained for IV-related procedures, and he could take care of Qian himself.

They went back to switch the medication. The doctor was also displeased at their fussiness. Yu Minglang said nothing, but Qian memorized the doctor and nurse’s names for a future complaint; their attitude was too poor.

While the doctor’s and nurse’s reluctance to help were irritating, Qian understood it was brought upon by her extra-fussy husband. Why did he insist on changing the medicine, causing unnecessary trouble? In hindsight, it would have been easier to take some medication at home and settle the issue.

...

”Brother-in-law!”

Chen Zilong ran over, panting heavily.

He had just finished eating, and for the intern Chen Zilong, seeing Yu Minglang was no easy task. Since that meal, he hadn’t had a chance to meet Yu Minglang alone.

Yu Minglang was the top authority among them. Chen Zilong wasn’t even officially in the position yet, just an intern. Even when they met, it was through layers of people. Chen Zilong finally seized his chance after the meal today to catch Yu Minglang by the stairs.

”At work, you should call me Vice President!” Yu Minglang said, frowning.

He initially planned to use his lunch break to check on his wife. How was Qian recovering? They had come back from the hospital late last night, and he personally administered fluids to Qian until past two o’clock before going to bed.

”Brother-in-law, there’s no one else here—” Chen Zilong tried to be chummy with Yu Minglang but immediately stood at attention when glared at.

”Yes, Vice President!”

”What’s the matter?”

”I just wanted to talk to you about something. Could you possibly assign me a different instructor?”

”Is there a problem with your current instructor?” Yu Minglang had deliberately assigned two exceptionally experienced seniors to train this batch of newcomers, ensuring the training program was top-notch.

”It’s not really a problem... It’s just that they’re too strict, you know? Sometimes they make issues out of nothing...”

Chen Zilong had a lot of complaints he wanted to share with his brother-in-law.

”Oh? It seems you have many grievances here.” Yu Minglang said blandly.

”It’s not exactly dissatisfaction either. Our original workplace was already quite strict, but this place seems stricter. Brother-in-law, I’m still growing; constant pressure will stunt my growth!”

Chen Zilong remembered his brother-in-law’s promise vividly. Didn’t his brother-in-law say he’d have an easier life here?

But that wasn’t what happened.

It hadn’t even been a week, and he felt like he was about to transcend to immortality. Compared to here, the old place couldn’t have been better!

Although digging was tough work, at least he didn’t have to deal with constant criticism. His team leader, while strict at first, became supportive later on, even accompanying him when he got things wrong.

The instructors here couldn’t care less; if you did something wrong, you’d be punished without mercy, losing points in the process. Once the score hits zero, you’d be sent back. Coming here with high expectations from the old place, it would be disappointing to return just like that.

So, Chen Zilong carefully considered his words before approaching his brother-in-law.

His brother-in-law had always been kind to him, especially since his promise had brought him here.

Where was the promised good life upon arrival?

”Look, there’s so much to learn every day, and digesting it all takes time, right? But those darn trainers don’t give us any time. You learn something one day, and they’re already testing you on it the next. If you don’t pass, you lose points. If it weren’t for sneaking test answers, I’d already be out of points and sent home. Brother-in-law, you have to help me!”

Chen Zilong pleaded desperately. With his brother-in-law as such a high-ranking leader, wasn’t he here just for formalities?
