Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 279: Chapter 267: Breaking Through the Sky (Birthday + Extra)

”Don’t move. One of this batch is already damaged by you. If you mess up these two more, they won’t sell for a good price. The buyer, Apo, said she wanted clean ones.” The bald man looked at Qian lecherously, his eyes like those of a beast.

Qian lowered her gaze, refusing to meet his eyes. Her hands were tied behind her back.

”Don’t sell them. Let’s keep them for ourselves. Look, this one with the beauty mark on her forehead is quite good-looking. How about it, Boss? Let me have a go at her, just once.” The man standing in front of Qian started to unbuckle his belt.

Shi Yu tried her best to shield Qian, but she was bound. Qian had already prepared for the worst. Suddenly, the girl who had faced misfortune earlier struggled to get up, having somehow untied her hands, and frantically lunged at the man in front of Qian, biting him. The men nearby quickly pulled her away and harshly slapped her, tying her up again.

”Enough of this. If you keep at it, it’ll be dark soon. The mountain roads are hard to navigate at night. Even if these two good-looking ones go for 1000 more, people will want them. We can make a bit more for the New Year.” The bald man’s words made the sinister man give up for the moment, casting a wicked glance at Qian before turning to the front passenger seat.

A large van; the bald man was driving, with Qian and three other victims in the back. A sleazy man sat in the front passenger seat, while another obviously unsavory man sat next to Qian, watching them. He kept licking the corners of his mouth, looking from Qian to Shi Yu. Such beautiful girls were rarely seen.

One could anticipate that sitting in a car with this person would not bode well—being groped would be the least of their worries.

Suddenly, the sleazy man clutched his stomach.

”Ouch, I ate something bad. I can’t take it; I need to use the toilet!”

The bald man cursed under his breath, pointing at the woman guarding Qian. ”Old Five’s wife, you’re not going back. Come with me to deliver the goods.”

”Brother, I still need to go home and feed my child. Can I make it back home before dark?”

”No problem, hurry up!”

With a word, the bald man replaced the bad man with a stout woman.

The sleazy man in the front seat glanced back at Qian and Shi Yu before turning to the bald man, ”Boss, I’ll sit in the back, and let Old Five’s wife come to the front?”

”No way. Don’t get any ideas about this batch. A prosperous New Year depends on them. Da Mei, keep them in check and don’t let them cause trouble!”

”Got it, brother!”

It sounded like a family syndicate.

Regardless, Qian and Xiaoyu were safe for now.

What Qian didn’t expect was that this person called Da Mei was also once taken and trafficked, a former victim now aiding the wrongdoers.

”When you get there, stop crying and wailing. Work diligently. If any of you can give birth to a son, your status will be secured. Look at me.”

This woman called Da Mei raised her hand to show the large gold ring to Qian and the others.

”I’m living quite a good life now, with three sons. My husband treats me well and never hits me. Don’t be like her—silly and running away. The more you run, the more you get beaten.”

Qian nodded and agreed.

”Big sister, you seem like a wise person.”

Shi Yu couldn’t bring herself to be as adaptable as Qian. Qian was deliberately playing along with this woman, but with a purpose. Shi Yu thought of a text she once studied at school.

It turned out that there were indeed people willing to eat blood-stained steamed buns, willing to aid in evil. Victims who became perpetrators, persuading others to accept, made the world seem terrifying, human nature so complex!

”Don’t play tricks with me. I’ve seen all kinds of people over the years. From chaste women to the strong-willed, none have ever managed to escape. It’s fate. I’m telling you, you just have to accept your lot!”

Qian’s compliance made Da Mei quite pleased, but she still warned her.

”Big sister, don’t you ever think of your original family?”

This question made Da Mei momentarily dazed.

Her original family...

After having several sons, her husband let her contact her family. But so what? She had already given birth; she couldn’t go back. She was tied here for life.

”Stop talking. It’s annoying!” The bald man warned from the front, and Da Mei dared not speak.

The car continued on to a fork in the road, with three paths ahead. Suddenly, Qian clutched her stomach.

”Big sister, my stomach hurts. I need to relieve myself.”

”No way! Don’t try any tricks!”

”I truly...can’t hold it...”

”Take her out. Don’t mess up the car; it’s inauspicious for the New Year!” The bald man braked. Da Mei kicked Qian, taking her out. By the roadside, there was a patch of wild grass. Qian deliberately squatted slowly and, using the grass as cover, quickly removed the crystal marigold anklet from her foot.

The anklet had many small marigold pendants. Ignoring the cuts the metal made on her hands, Qian endured the pain and removed them one by one.

”Are you done? Don’t try anything!” Da Mei urged.

Qian emerged from the grass, ”I’m done, I’m done. There wasn’t anything initially. Maybe I was just too scared.”

”Hurry up and get in the car!”

Da Mei carried an electric baton, walking behind Qian.

As Qian was getting into the car, she discreetly dropped one of the marigold pendants she held in her palm.

”Big sister, I get carsick. Can you open the window a bit and let me sit by the window? I’m afraid you’ll hit me if I vomit in the car...”

”You’re so demanding!” Da Mei glared at Qian, pushing her to the window, where the window was opened slightly.

Probably fearing the hassle, perhaps also seeing Qian as too timid and weak to cause trouble, Da Mei didn’t tie Qian up again. Throughout the journey, Qian continuously tossed small marigold pendants out of the window whenever the others weren’t paying attention.

Even though she knew this might not be useful, she still held on to a sliver of hope.

Doing something was still better than doing nothing.

Yu Minglang must have already realized she was missing by now, and if he had, he would definitely try everything to find her.

However, considering the power the Shi Family had in his previous life, they still couldn’t find Shi Touyu. Qian knew it would be incredibly difficult for him to find her in such a place.

They chose one of the three roads, speeding toward an unknown destination.

Meanwhile, in Q City, Yu Minglang was about to tear the sky apart.

Qian and Shi Yu had been out of contact for more than 24 hours.

Although it hadn’t reached the 48-hour disappearance reporting threshold, Yu Minglang had already guessed that something had happened to Qian.

No matter how upset she was with him, she wouldn’t disappear for this long.

Jia Xiufang still didn’t know Qian was missing.

After checking with Zheng Xu, Yu Minglang told Jia Xiufang that Qian had been taken by his mother on a trip and wouldn’t be back for a few days.

At this critical moment, he couldn’t let Jia Xiufang worry.

Besides, she couldn’t help anyway.

Yu Minglang bore the burden alone.
