Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 260: Chapter 248: Opening Up the Heart

Teng Daye looked at his daughter’s frozen red face, ”Kids’ jokes shouldn’t be taken seriously. Come back with me; I have a contract to sign.”

”You have to keep your promises. If you’re busy, don’t accompany me. I’ll sell them myself.”

”How long have you been with her, and you’ve already been brainwashed like this? It’s just not eating; we can go abroad for surgery.”

As soon as Teng Daye finished speaking, his phone rang again. Seeing the number, he didn’t want to answer.

Hang up!

”Dad, you fear no difficulty; why do you dare not face Qian?”

”Who’s afraid of facing her!”

”Then answer it!”

The phone rang persistently; Teng Daye, with extreme impatience, answered Qian’s call under his daughter’s provocation.

”Mr. Teng, how are you?” Qian’s voice was so pleasant.

She had just soaked in the hot spring and was now enjoying a full body spa massage in the women’s section of the club with her sister-in-law, lying on the luxurious massage bed, eyes closed and enjoying holding her phone.

”Chen Xiaoqian, can your little house game end?” Teng Daye sneezed from the cold; Qian seemed not to hear, turning her head to say something to the masseuse.

”Could you be a little lighter, thanks.”

Damned, tricked people into selling leek boxes like fool deer in the cold, while she went to the spa!

Teng Daye now really wanted to choke Qian with his own hands.

”Ah, Mr. Teng, what did you say just now?”

”I said—”

”Sis, can you ask them to lower the air conditioning? Oh, I’m sweating.”

”Ah-choo!” Teng Daye sneezed again; Qian’s smug voice made him want to smash the phone.

”Ah, Mr. Teng, let me make it brief. The reason I’m calling is to remind you that abroad there’s an advanced surgical treatment for neurogenic anorexia. It targets a particular point regulating emotions in the central nervous system, and the cost is expensive...”

”My family is poor, only left with money.” Teng Daye said irritably.

”I know, you’re just loaded, loaded comrade. As a responsible doctor, I must remind you, while the recurrence rate after surgery is only 5%, once the central nervous system is operated upon, Shuixian will no longer be complete. Her emotions will be affected. Would you prefer selling leek boxes or making your daughter incomplete?”

”Bastard!” Teng Daye smashed the phone.

”I just don’t believe that all the money can’t cure you!” Teng Daye touched his daughter’s hair. The bodyguard’s car drove over; he wanted to get in the car, opened the door, and turned to see his daughter’s disappointed face.

”Dad, can’t you accompany me?”

”Daddy has work; he can’t accompany you in these kids’ pretend games—if you’re really worried about your naughty little friend, I won’t touch her then.”

Teng Daye closed the car door, Shuixian called out to the car forcefully.

”Am I really less important than business? What do you earn so much money for! I don’t need money; I don’t need bags; I don’t want anything; I just want you to fulfill a promise, is that not possible? Give me back my dad; give me back the dad who used to set up stalls with me!”

The daughter was an introverted child, rarely losing control like this; Teng Daye looked at her through the car window; Shuixian cried.

”Boss?” The driver dared not drive, asking Teng Daye.

”Inconsiderate child, ignore her, she’ll come back when she figures it out, drive!” Teng Daye closed his eyes, not looking at Shuixian.

Less than ten meters into the drive, Teng Daye couldn’t help but look back, Shuixian squatted on the ground, curling herself into a ball.

Suddenly in his mind, a long-ago picture emerged.

Five-year-old Shuixian curled herself into a ball, squatting on the ground in the same way, crying in a childlike voice and asking him why they couldn’t sell anything.

Successful Teng Daye suddenly remembered.

The year his wife passed away, he also sold leek boxes with his child.

He had done countless businesses in his life, tried everything, and the more he did, the smoother, the larger it grew. But he had deliberately forgotten this initial part.

Because of his wife’s passing, because of creditors’ pressure, because of his incompetence, he made a little girl suffer with him. As a successful person, he instinctively blocked this memory.

But now, how did it suddenly come back?

Back then Shuixian squatted on the ground, just like now; how did he answer her then?

”Don’t cry, Shuixian. When it’s all sold, Daddy will buy you the Nine Linked Rings you said you wanted, Daddy will buy it for you when it’s sold...”

Couldn’t believe he forgot; he wanted to make money at first just to make this child’s life a little better. He walked too far and forgot the original intention when starting.

”Turn back, go back.”

”Crying won’t solve the problem; you need to think about what to do.”

Shuixian looked up, seeing her returning dad standing before her.

”You’re so grown-up now, can’t cry like a kid. Isn’t it just a few leek boxes? Your dad sold oil fields worth billions, surely selling these won’t be an issue.”

”Dad?” Shuixian asked joyfully, how did he change his mind?

”Watch carefully, I’ll demonstrate. Every business, big or small, must have a gimmick. Even good wine fears a deep alley. The era of mindless work has passed. It’s a time for marketing now; there must be a complete planning scheme!”

”...What’s the plan you’ve come up with?”

Teng Daye cleared his throat and shouted, ”Selling leek boxes!”

”Pfft!” Shuixian laughed.

”Why not help sell together, your little friend is really too crafty...”

”Selling leek boxes, world’s best leek boxes!” Shuixian shouted cooperatively.

Teng family’s several bodyguards watched from afar, unwittingly pondering a philosophical question.

Whether to pretend to be passersby and buy up those leek boxes, it’s a difficult decision.

After shouting for a long time, finally came the first customer, buying 2 yuan worth.

Teng Daye and Shuixian excitedly clapped their hands.

Selling a billion worth of oil fields doesn’t bring as much joy as this 2 yuan.

Opening day is always a good sign.

Afterwards, business wasn’t particularly good, but they managed to sell some occasionally; snowflakes began to fall, and it became colder.

When there was no business, father and daughter could chat.

”Cold?” Teng Daye asked his daughter.

”Not really, Dad, am I a bother to you? Maybe you should go do business; I figured it out, I was a bit stubborn earlier.”

In that short while, Teng Daye’s phone had rung several times, but he hadn’t answered.

”It’s alright, fulfilling one’s promise is important, Shuixian, it’s Dad’s fault, always busy with work neglecting your feelings, it won’t be like that from now on.”

”Really?” Shuixian looked at him joyfully.
