Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 278: Chapter 266: Staying Calm and Rescuing Yourself

At this moment, Qian suddenly understood that breaking up with Yu Minglang was such an irrational behavior—or perhaps, it was exactly as Zheng Xu had said.

She originally didn’t intend to truly break up with him, just wanted to put on a show, pretending to live up to the little bit of conscience she still had.

He was the benefactor from her past life.

Seeing his handwriting, Qian remembered everything.

If he wasn’t her benefactor, she might have been able to calmly accept his feelings, but now her benefactor loves her deeply, even got distracted at work and got hurt because of her.

So, Qian made a decision she thought was right, but Zheng Xu’s words sharply pierced her heart.

She just wanted to find a dignified excuse for herself, so she wouldn’t have to continue feeling guilty.

She owed Yu Minglang too much, too much to know how to repay.

Sometimes, the difference between the smartest person and the dumbest person is just a wall; being too smart, you become foolish.

If she can safely escape this time, she must choose a correct way to handle this relationship. The future is full of ignorance, and no one knows when danger will come. Yu Minglang’s job is dangerous, but she has encountered abduction.

Qian admired herself for being able to think so much in such a critical moment.

The car stopped, the woman came over and gagged both Qian and Xiaoyu.

Qian guessed that they might have reached a downtown area.

The car drove on for a while, and they could hear the sound of car horns outside, then it stopped, and a smell of gasoline spread.

This should be refueling the car.

Shi Touyu tried to make a muffled cry for help, but no one could hear it. The tank was full, and the car continued to move forward.

If anyone tells Qian again that bread is the worst quality car in the world, Qian would definitely say ”ha ha” to that person.

It drove so far and still didn’t break down, what a great national product!

If the car broke down, there would be more opportunities.

After refueling, the car continued to drive, bumping back and forth, without water or food, Qian and Shi Yu felt very uncomfortable, but no one could fall asleep. They were dancing on the tip of a needle, every inch covered in frost.

When the car stopped again, it had been a long, long time.

Qian guessed they might have changed the license plate along the way, or didn’t need to. In this era, the Skynet CCTV system hadn’t yet fully covered the country; as long as they avoided checkpoints, it wouldn’t be much of a problem. That’s how they could be so brazen, even arrogant.

This time when they stopped, the middle-aged woman came over, ungagged Qian and Shi Touyu, and tossed them a bottle of water and two steamed buns.

”Eat quickly. We still have to hit the road after eating!”

They had been tied up for so long that their hands were numb once freed.

The two girls didn’t know how long it had been since they last ate, but at this moment, they exchanged a glance.

With their hands free now, was there a chance to knock out these two bastards, like after the girls took down this fat woman, they could hijack the car, and Qian could go on a fast and furious joyride?

But this thought lasted only 2 seconds before it shattered.

Qian saw it, and Shi Yu saw it too.

No wonder this woman dared to untie them.

Outside, several cars were parked, filled with fierce-looking men; they were almost certainly accomplices.

In those cars, one wonders if there were more girls like Qian and them.

”How about your end?” The woman who tied up Qian asked the man in the car beside her.

”No luck, didn’t get any. How much goods did you get?”

”Ha ha, we did okay, with some help, got two, pretty decent goods. After this job, I can go home for the New Year.”

”I also got one, a dumb woman arguing with her man at night and ran out, bumped into me, hahaha, what a bargain!”

Talking about people as if they were goods, so casually, it really makes one want to risk their life against them.

Shi Yu clutched the steamed bun, wondering if she could rush out and figure out a way to perish together with these people to help Qian escape.

So many of them, each one more brute than the next.

Shi Yu especially wished at this moment that she had a bomb strapped to her, to blow these scumbags up, or a barrel of gasoline to burn these bastards to death.

”Keep your head down and eat, don’t look, don’t think, obey!” Qian kept her head down, eating the steamed bun quickly. She had to conserve energy and reminded Shi Touyu not to act rashly.

Shi Yu, although naive, was truly loyal. Guessing that she might want to sacrifice herself to save Qian, Qian had to remind her to bide her time and keep her composure.

In a den of thieves, resisting would only lead to a more miserable death.

With Qian’s hint, Shi Yu held back her anger. Qian stuffed a steamed bun into her hand, ”Eat. Without eating, you have no strength. Don’t forget, you still have an important task.”

The two sat there eating quietly when suddenly came a scream from the front.

A girl was surrounded by several men, being relentlessly punched and kicked.

”Run? You think you can run with those long legs? Break her legs for me!”

The man speaking was a big bald guy, looking fierce, hitting the woman without mercy.

The circle of scum is unimaginable to normal people. Over there the beating was continuous, like purgatory on earth. Shi Yu’s stomach contents kept rising. She wanted to stand up, but Qian held her hand tightly and shook her head.

Going out wouldn’t help a bit, and it would only end up trapping her too.

That girl was likely also abducted, dragged into the car after a severe beating, her screams growing weaker and weaker.

Just within five meters, how could they not hear it? Qian held the shivering Shi Yu, her heart burning like fire.

It’s not that she didn’t want to save her; it’s just that there was no way.

Shi Yu seemed terrified. What happened here had surpassed all her previous understanding. Originally living under the bright sun, suddenly she was moved to a terrifyingly dark place she had never touched.

Turns out some people can really be worse than animals. Just because you can’t see something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

Qian held her tightly, speaking soothing words.

”Don’t be afraid, I’m here. No one can touch you.”

”Qian, she, she...” Shi Yu felt her blood run cold. She was so scared and so angry at those bastards!

”Your calmness not only saves yourself but can also help her. Bear it, Shi Yu, remember what I taught you, keep the grievance in your heart, do what you should at the right time. Blood debts will be paid in blood, one day, bear it!”

After resting, these people forced Qian and Shi Yu onto another larger car, tied them up again, but didn’t gag their mouths. In this car, besides Xiaoyu and Qian, there was also a girl covered in wounds. Her eyes were lifeless, apparently deeply traumatized, so they gagged her to prevent her from screaming.

The driver was replaced by the bald guy from before, along with two other men, all burly and speaking in similar accents.

”These two goods are not bad.” One man looked at Qian and Xiaoyu’s faces, swallowed, and even reached out to flirtatiously touch Xiaoyu’s face.

Oh no, he’s getting lustful!
